Dinner reservation at 6:00 pm. It was my first time and I was a bit lost, so I arrived early. I had trouble finding a parking spot, but when I called the restaurant, they kindly guided me and greeted me at the front. The stairs led down towards the river, and after crossing the bridge, I arrived at Yamadori. I could hear the sounds of cicadas and summer frogs, even though it was still a bit cold. I wanted to warm up by the charcoal fire in the hearth. Inside the restaurant, there were two rooms, each with a large hearth. The hearths were handmade. A salad was served at the edge of the hearth, and I started eating while waiting for the charcoal to arrive. The warmth from the charcoal made the room cozy, and I took off my coat. The skewered chicken arrived, enough for two people. The pieces were large, so I grilled them slowly and enjoyed them with rock salt and yuzu pepper. The chicken course also came with a hot pot, which was a delightful addition. A large shrimp, two pieces of beef, tempura, and rice cooked in a pot were served. Everything was delicious, and I was impressed. The hot pot had a clear and light chicken broth with plenty of vegetables. Even though I was full, I couldn't stop eating. Thank you for the feast.
