Hankyu Awaji Station is crowded with transfer passengers. However, the number of customers entering and exiting the ticket gates is lower compared to the neighboring Juso Station. There are shopping streets on both the east and west sides of the station. Today, we visited the East Awaji Shopping Street. The area is bustling with new restaurants, including a high-end yakiniku restaurant that serves beef from Tottori Prefecture. The entrance has two doors, and inside, there are only 4 counter seats. We ordered a draft beer, Namul assorted plate, raw beef intestines, grilled tongue, and assorted hormone plate. The background music playing was mainly John Coltrane's songs. The dishes were served on high-quality tableware, and the draft beer was smooth with a light taste. The Namul plate was refreshing, and the raw beef intestines were served on perilla leaves with green onions and sesame seeds. The spicy sauce was mild and complemented the dish well. We also tried a local sake from Tottori, which paired nicely with the meat. The grilled tongue was thick and juicy, and the assorted hormone plate included liver, heart, small intestines, tripe, teppanyaki, and red raw beef. The liver and heart were cooked rare, while the small intestines were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The dish was paired with a special Junmai sake, which had a sweet aroma. We ended the meal with cold noodles, which had a chewy texture and a flavorful broth. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and the staff were attentive and friendly.
