Another bento story lol. Occasionally, the black army also has meetings with bento during the day. There are about 20 guys, and it seems like they get their bento from Mitsukoshi a lot. The bento seems to be Kyoto cuisine, with a strong dashi flavor and a very elegant feel. The portion is small and the colors look like they would appeal to women, not really fitting for the guys... The scene of the black army guys eating this bento silently in the meeting room is eerie...

I was busy and didn't have much time, but I didn't want to skip lunch, so I headed to the basement of Mitsukoshi. I saw "Minoyoshi" first. It's a Kyoto-style obanzai restaurant. The matsutake mushroom bento was a bit expensive, so I went for the one next to it. Oh, this one is also 1200 yen. Oh well, it looks elegant and has a refined taste. It's delicious. I wish I could have eaten it slowly. When will this work be over?

This is a nationwide chain store. The other day, I passed by this store in Mitsukoshi and found that they were selling jelly dishes. The summer vegetable jelly dish (400 yen excluding tax) had okra, tomato, eggplant, pumpkin, sweet potato, green peas, etc. The vegetables gave a nice summer feel, but the jelly was unexpectedly firm. Maybe it was made that way so it wouldn't fall apart when taken home? When I think about it, aren't jelly dishes from cake shops more wobbly? I'm not very familiar with Japanese jelly dishes, so maybe that's why. The rolled omelette with Kujo green onions (360 yen) was just delicious. Thank you for the meal.

"Soba Sushi" and "Chawanmushi" (Note: Review from July 2015 visit) I visited "Minoyoshi Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Store" located in the food floor on the 2nd floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi. I purchased "Shrimp Tempura Soba Sushi" and "Chilled Yuba Tofu Chawanmushi". The refreshing green color of the soba is inviting and perfect for the hot season. The chilled yuba tofu chawanmushi had a refreshing and smooth texture that was especially delicious during the hot weather when appetite tends to decrease. I visited "Minoyoshi Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Store" on the 2nd floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi. The department store basement was bustling with many shoppers on the holiday. Today, I purchased "Colorful Chirashi Sushi" and "Hiroshima Prefecture Restaurant's Kaki-no-dashi Gohan". The colorful chirashi sushi with various ingredients was appetizing to the eyes. The kaki-no-dashi gohan had a subtle and delicious flavor. I visited "Minoyoshi Fukuoka Mitsukoshi Store" on the 2nd floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi. This shop offers elegant Kyoto-style bento boxes and side dishes with a seasonal touch. Today, I purchased the July seasonal bento box "Yoiyama Sansaku" for 1,050 yen, which is suitable for enjoying the evening mountain stroll with Gion Hayashi playing. The bento box made of bamboo and bamboo skin exuded a simple taste, making it feel wasteful to throw away the container after eating. The side dishes included simmered dishes (pumpkin, chicken meatballs, carrots), dashimaki tamago, grilled sago, eggplant dengaku, red vinegar pickles, simmered sweet potatoes, smoked duck, young peach simmered, and kombu tsukudani, with Uonuma Koshihikari rice (certified rice from Tsunan Town) used for the rice. Personally, I found the texture of the red vinegar pickles and the small simmered young peaches to be unique and enjoyable. It would be even better if it were a bit lighter in flavor with no additives, but I understand that it may not be possible for commercially available bento boxes. Some may find the portion size to be small, but appreciating such elegant bento boxes occasionally has its own charm. When I went to Mitsukoshi, I purchased a bento box for 1300 yen, I think. It had tamagoyaki, salmon, and ikura. All my favorite things in one box. The tamagoyaki had a strong dashi flavor. There was plenty of salmon and ikura compared to the amount of rice. It was delicious, but I felt like the salmon was a bit too salty for my taste.

This is a restaurant located on the B2 floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi, serving elegant Kyoto cuisine for takeout. I recently visited this place after visiting a dentist in Tenjin and decided to have lunch here by buying a bento. The showcase displays colorful bento boxes and side dishes. I chose the "Momiji" bento on this day, a seasonal two-tiered bento priced at 1800 yen. The dishes included red and white namasu, dashimaki tamago, minced and fried flounder, saury with yuzu sauce, chicken meatballs, carrots, daikon, sweet potatoes, and pickled mibuna. It also came with mixed rice, sesame tofu, and ganmo. The restaurant is located on the B2 floor of Fukuoka Mitsukoshi. Both the bento box and the hot pot were incredibly delicious. I would love to visit the main branch in Kyoto.
