Lunch [Food Log Curry WEST Top 100 Stores 2023] ■ Three kinds of curry (Chicken Keema + Beef Tendon + Vegetables) ¥1,200 (tax included) Representing Osaka's spice curry is the renowned shop "SOMA." The owner, Kiyoshi Izumi, was featured on the TV show "Passion Continent." In the scorching heat of Osaka under the relentless sun, you can transfer from Shin-Osaka Station directly to the Midosuji subway line and get off at Nakatsu Station. Just a 3-minute walk from the station, the slightly suspicious-looking "SOMA" appears. Around noon on a weekday, there is only one person waiting inside the shop. Expecting long lines, this unexpected surprise is quite delightful. Order and pay at the entrance, then take a seat. The menu offers a choice of the classic Chicken Keema, along with options to choose two of the following: 1 meat curry, 2 vegetable curry, 3 tomato curry. With 5 options for the meat curry alone (chicken, pork belly, mutton keema, beef tendon, Szechuan tofu), it's hard to decide. As seen on Passion Continent, the shop is filled with plants hanging everywhere. The owner, who is both a curry chef and a musician, plays modular synth music, creating a unique atmosphere. The order of "Chicken Keema," "Beef Tendon," and "Vegetables" arrives in 5-6 minutes. Surprisingly, such elaborate curry is only ¥1,200. The moment it arrives, a vibrant spice aroma fills the air. The classic Chicken Keema is coarsely ground, meaty, rich, and deep. The beef tendon matches well with the spices, combining the flavor of the beef tendon with the spices. The chunky cut vegetables have a mild and gentle taste. Each dish has its own unique finish, yet they come together harmoniously on one plate. It's not too overpowering, making it suitable for everyone.
