割った鍋
I heard about a dish called "Shukumeli" that I had never heard of before, available at the fast food chain "Matsuya," and for some reason, I felt like I wanted to try it. I found out that it is available at some locations in Osaka, and decided to go to the "Matsuya Tsutenkaku Store" after watching a movie at Shinsekai Toei. It is served as a "Shukumeli hot pot set meal" with rice, miso soup, and salad. However, I didn't really need the salad or miso soup, as I had done some research on what Shukumeli is and it didn't seem like they would go well with it. I was impressed that "Matsuya" serves a lesser-known foreign dish in Japan, but it's also typical of them to serve miso soup with everything. However, I was relieved to find out that Shukumeli is also available as a standalone dish. It was my first time trying Shukumeli. It didn't come out as quickly as gyudon or curry, but when it finally arrived, it was piping hot. It appeared on a cast-iron pot with a solid fuel burner underneath. The setup may take some effort, and heating it up also takes time. But when I tried it, it was delicious. I had done some research on what kind of dish it was, and it not only met my expectations but exceeded them. I was wondering about the satsumaimo (sweet potato), but it worked well. The dish consists of chicken cooked with garlic, sour cream, salt, and oil, which is a Georgian cuisine. It's kind of like a stew, or more like throwing chicken into a hot cheese fondue. The addition of sweet potatoes and cheese topping might be a "Matsuya" twist. I thought maybe more sour cream could have come through, but overall, I was very satisfied. I also felt a sense of satisfaction from trying something unusual. The only downside is that it is a limited-time offer, and it is scheduled to end on December 15, 2019, just two days from when I am writing this. It's a shame that it's only available for a short period and at a limited number of locations. If you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend it.
