During snack time, I ventured into a workshop. The store is large, but the sales area is a small box about 6 tatami mats in size. The meticulously arranged dorayaki in the showcase is like the moon. The gentle colors already soothe me. It's clear that they are popular, as they sell out quickly. I bought one of the aces to enjoy later, a crepe-like abekawa. Not only is the color beautifully baked, but the artistic lines and roundness are striking. It feels soft and round in my hand, like a juggling ball. It's cute. The ace is filled with jam, whole strawberries, strawberry cream, and whipped cream. It's a delicious cake that surprises with changes in taste and fusion. The interior color is a faint, definite milky pink as if a love heart is drawn on the cheek. A unique, local dessert. I am proud that this local dessert is spreading happiness, and I hope they continue to do so around the world. Thank you very much.

The shell-shaped fresh dorayaki with large amaou strawberries is amazing! It's a bit pricey but worth it. Not great for gifts due to short shelf life, but perfect for a quick treat. Highly recommend trying this unique snack!

I bought the popular cut-off pieces of sweet potatoes from Itoki King and Hakata Amabi, which I couldn't buy after several attempts in the Fukuoka Itoshima area for some reason. It's a popular shop, but it's far from my house so I can't go there easily. It was delicious as expected, with a moderate sweetness that would go well with matcha. It would look good in a tea room too.

"Ido King" has been featured in TV commercials a lot recently, and as a result, my friends from Fukuoka keep requesting it as souvenirs. On this day, I was asked to go to the main store of "Ido King", a Fukuoka Prefecture Itoshima-produced Amaou strawberry processing and sales place in Nanakaze-dai. The store used to be very spacious, but now the sales space is minimalistic, which I find makes it easier to shop. The main products seem to be the "Dora King" and "Hakata Amabi", but there are also new items like castella and yokan. However, the requested item is usually the "Hakata Amabi" from the commercial, which is a Amaou strawberry-flavored warabi mochi. This time, I also bought a box for my family for 1,620 yen. The box is beautifully designed, but I wish it had a bit more of a premium feel. The large pieces of warabi mochi are arranged vertically, giving the appearance of a substantial amount. The package includes condensed milk and soybean flour, allowing for different flavor experiences. The soybean flour is especially delicious! I also tried the "Dora King", which was available in small sizes. Overall, both the "Hakata Amabi" and "Dora King" were delicious and worth trying.

I stopped by on a weekday at noon to buy souvenirs. Since I received some as a gift before, I decided to buy some for myself as well. The shop had a large sign, making it easy to find. When I entered, there was one group of customers already there. However, shortly after, about 4 more groups arrived. It seems like a popular shop. There were 5 different types to choose from, so I had a hard time deciding. I ended up buying one of each type, totaling 5, and also bought one for myself. It cost around 2,200 yen for 6 pieces, so about 360 yen each. They were delicious, but a bit pricey. As souvenirs, they are good.

I came to Itoshima (Fukuoka Prefecture) for the first time with a friend who lives in Tokyo. It's not that far away, but it's been a long time since I came here myself. I was surprised to see that the number of employees (production staff) has increased quite a bit during my absence. There weren't many things that came to mind when thinking of Itoshima, so we just decided to come here, but my friend was delighted and said, "It's delicious!" Doraking and Rusk are still delicious. I visited the shop on Saturday evening, but unfortunately the Amaou warabi mochi was sold out. The staff mentioned that you can make a reservation in advance, so I will do that next time. I purchased the Hakata Amabi (mini) for 1,296 yen. It was indeed delicious, but I don't think it offers good value for money. It would be nice to receive it as a souvenir, but for personal consumption, once is enough.

I couldn't decide which one to buy as a souvenir, so I asked the staff to make a random assortment for me. The set they made for me includes three types of dorayaki with a total of 15 pieces. Dorakingu Nama (fresh), priced at 410 yen, has a whole Amaou strawberry inside red bean paste, wrapped in strawberry cream and mochi skin. It is a limited-time product available from mid-November to the end of May. Dorakingu Nama (matcha), priced at 410 yen, combines the bitterness of matcha with the refreshing sweetness of Amaou strawberries, available from mid-November to the end of May. Dorakingu Anko, priced at 215 yen, features a unique flavor of strawberry butter and sweet red bean paste, reminiscent of a nostalgic taste. I went there because a friend from out of town wanted to visit. It took about an hour by car from the city. Since it was around 5 pm, they only had dorayaki. It was 400 yen each (lol). They also had Amaou strawberry ice cream for 370 yen. I understand it's a touristy place, so the prices are high. But if you could at least eat inside the store, it would make more sense. There were only 5 people in the store, and the selection was limited. Regardless, it's expensive. It's a mystery. It's not amazingly delicious, but if it's a specialty of Hakata, I could forgive it. However, the dorayaki was just average, and the ice cream was nothing special. There are much tastier options out there. Even Häagen-Dazs is 50 times better. I will never go back, and I will do my best to stop anyone from out of town from going there. If you can pay 400 yen for a regular dorayaki or ice cream with strawberries, then go ahead and try it.

The cream was rich, and the dorayaki dough was chewy and very delicious! It matched well with the acidity of the Amaou strawberries. The appearance is also cute, so it would make a great souvenir. However, the price is too high. Even though it's smaller than a regular dorayaki, it costs 400 yen (about $4), which is quite expensive. If it were around 200 yen, I would definitely go back for more.

I bought this souvenir at a gift shop near the station. The packaging was stylish and the quantity was good for the price. It is said that Itokingu's strawberry processing is unbeatable. It's important to take pride in your work. I noticed after buying it that the white beard in the photo of Amaou strawberries is probably meant to represent condensed milk. It's clever. As for the sweets themselves, the description says they experimented to convey the sweetness of Amaou strawberries, but they don't taste much like strawberries. The slightly firm pie crust has a hint of strawberry flavor, but I wish it had more strawberry and condensed milk taste. The mousse dorayaki had a fluffy strawberry mousse that made it more like a cake than a dorayaki. Perhaps it's because of the chewy and thin dough. It was quite satisfying to eat.
