A bento shop in the southern part of Osaka City that specializes in tonkatsu and fried foods. Tonkatsu Bento for 650 yen. The thinly sliced tonkatsu covers the whole plate, served on a bed of white rice with sauce drizzled on top. Shredded cabbage and mayonnaise are provided in a separate pack. A bento with enough volume to satisfy even adult men.

Near the bride's family home, this place has a traditional atmosphere from the early Heisei era. It was a bit different from my image of tonkatsu. When I took a bite, I thought it was beef cutlet? The meat is dark in color. It's pork, right? It seems like it's been pounded quite a bit, making it tender with a good texture. The meat has a strong umami flavor and very little acidity. The portion of rice is generous, suitable for men, but not too much. Cabbage is served separately, which I put on top of the tonkatsu. Delicious! There's a generous serving of mayonnaise. I wonder if they would give me more cabbage if I said I didn't need the mayonnaise? I'll ask next time.

Today I had lunch at Port Town Higashi Station. I was going to just go to the convenience store, but I ended up going to Izumiya instead. The atmosphere was so nostalgic! It felt like being in a 70s New Town, specifically the one I used to play in, Senri New Town! Even now, there were quite a few people around, and Port Town Higashi was bustling! The cafes were all packed for lunch, so I went to a tonkatsu restaurant in the specialty store area. The specialty store area also had that old nostalgic vibe. I loved it! I ordered a tonkatsu bento for about 800 yen. It came with a huge tonkatsu, rice, and cabbage. The tonkatsu was like a big straw sandal with sauce on top! The taste was simple but delicious. The sauce was sweet, which made the rice go down easily! It gave me a sense of nostalgia and energy! Thank you for the meal!

I suddenly had a craving for the reliably delicious taste. The tonkatsu bento is good, but I should have chosen the beef cutlet bento. It's delicious, so it's all good. The parking lot is big here and you get one hour free, making it a recommended spot that's consistently good even on holidays.

Traditional bento shop. Bought as a side dish this time and it was delicious. Next time, I want to buy it as a full bento.

A local favorite delicious bento shop. The staff is very friendly. This time, I had a tonkatsu bento, and the tonkatsu was delicious, but the rice was even better than any other bento shop I've tried before.

Stable. Be careful not to overeat because there is a large amount of food.

Today's lunch was a hearty Dojo bento box for 650 yen, filled with a variety of fried items. The lineup included shrimp fry, squid fry, chicken cutlet, fish cake, fried fish, croquette, bite-sized cutlet, and more. It was so delicious and satisfying! The restaurant, Tonkatsu Dojo Port Town branch, was crowded during lunchtime, but it was worth the wait. I left feeling full and satisfied.

Tonkatsu Dojo is a bento shop chain that is centered around Nishinari and Suminoe, receiving strong support from the local community. I had heard a lot about it, but decided to try it for the first time. On this day, I visited the Port Town store in Minato-ku, Suminoe. It is located on the first floor of a shopping mall in front of Port Town Higashi tram station. Parking is available in the rotary next to the building or the adjacent flat parking lot, with the first hour being free. The shop is located at the back of the specialty store area in the supermarket, but its flashy pop colors make it easy to spot. I arrived just before 12:10 pm. The small shop was bustling with 5 staff members frying away. The woman at the register was working hard while carrying her baby of about six months old. I ordered the most popular Dojo Bento, the classic Tonkatsu Bento, and the Karaage Bento that I wanted to try, totaling 6 items. The staff split the order among themselves and efficiently prepared it in about 5 minutes. I took the bento back to my office to eat during lunch break. The Dojo Bento contained 6 types of fried items, including pork cutlet, loin cutlet, shrimp, white fish, chicken, and squid. The plain rice that came with it seemed to be a normal portion, but it felt like more than a large serving (laughs). I managed to finish it, but my stomach was stuffed. The Karaage was not as good as Kamadoya or Hokkahoka-tei in my opinion. Considering the price, the portion was generous and left me feeling satisfied. Since I didn't get to try the Tonkatsu Bento this time, I'll have to go back sometime to try the yakiniku, steak, ton-teki, and ginger pork. I wonder how much volume they have. Thank you for the meal!

This is a takeout-only tonkatsu restaurant located inside the Port Town Shopping Center. I visited after watching a high school baseball game. It was on the first floor of the shopping center and there was a bit of a line since it was lunchtime. I ordered their famous tonkatsu bento box. It was ready in about 5 minutes and I took it to go. The box felt surprisingly heavy. There was a large tonkatsu on top of the rice, covered in demiglace sauce. The combination was delicious. The tonkatsu was easy to eat and there was also a little bit of chikuwa tempura on the side. A salad (cabbage with mayo) was included separately. It was indeed a delicious tonkatsu, just as the reviews said. I also saw other customers ordering the fried chicken bento box, which looked very appetizing. I will try that next time.

- Late November. Deluxe Pork Cutlet Bento for 700 yen. Unlike the regular pork cutlet bento, this one allows you to pour the sauce yourself, so you can enjoy the crispy pork cutlet. It also comes with two pieces of fried chicken and a fried egg, so you won't get tired of eating it. Highly recommended. - Deluxe Steak Bento for 800 yen. Beef steak. The meat is tougher compared to pork steak. Personally, I prefer the pork steak as it is more tender and juicy. The steak sauce here is delicious. - Deluxe Pork Steak Bento for 780 yen. Quite a generous portion. The steak sauce goes well with this pork steak. You also get to enjoy fried chicken at the same time, leaving you satisfied. - This bento shop is located in a shopping center near Port Town Higashi Station. Seeing several men lining up made me think it must be a place with hearty bentos. I ordered the popular pork cutlet bento for 600 yen. The sight of a palm-sized pork cutlet placed on top of white rice is impressive. When I tried it, the sauce already poured over it made it delicious. The pork cutlet is quite thick. Towards the end, it might get a bit too filling. Despite being a bento, it is much tastier than many Western-style restaurants. The separate containers of mayonnaise and cabbage are also nice touches.

On the first floor of the shopping center at Nanko Port Town, I stumbled upon Tonkatsu Dojo Port Town store! I decided to visit right away. Tonkatsu Dojo is known for its tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), and this visit marks my third time at one of their locations. Just like the other stores, they had a variety of bento boxes available, but I couldn't resist ordering the tonkatsu bento for 600 yen. I was surprised to see that the cabbage was served separately! It's the first time I've seen cabbage served separately in a bento box (laughs). The tonkatsu was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and had a great volume as always. It's a big size, bigger than the palm of my hand! For a satisfying meal, the tonkatsu bento is the way to go. The cute touch of a piece of tempura bamboo shoot on the side was also nice. I was full and satisfied. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I have been hooked on this place since I was in elementary school! Whenever there is no lunch at home, this is the place to go! The tonkatsu is so big that it looks like it's about to overflow! And the fried chicken bento is overflowing too (^^) It's like a bonus in a way (^^) The overflowing fried chicken bento is really impactful! I think it's run by a family, the main store might be in Kitakagaya nearby? I haven't been there, but in terms of taste, the tonkatsu and sauce are delicious and go really well with rice! I didn't take a photo because everyone else is taking them, but I just forgot. I'm going back home next week so I'm planning to go buy some! It reminded me of the past with this taste after a long time! Thank you for the meal!

The price is not particularly cheap, but the portions are generous. The food is delicious. The tonkatsu is not crispy, but it is moistened with sauce, which is actually good. Maybe it would be even tastier if it were crispy? That's an eternal mystery. There is something about this place that captures our hearts and doesn't let go. I feel like if I don't eat here at least once a month, my hands start shaking and tears and runny nose won't stop. I suspect that the bento shop near Port Town East Station has closed down several times because of this place. Also, it's technically a chain restaurant, but I haven't heard great things about the other locations, so it's probably best not to think of it as a chain.

The interior of Port Town Higashi is a station that is frequented by customers who are shut-ins and sometimes go for walks or have meals. However, I haven't been coming here much lately, so it's been about half a year since my last visit.
