ちびさや。
Seriously, without any jokes, the canelés, tarts, and melon cakes in Japan are all the best in the world. I haven't traveled the world, so it might be too much praise, haha, but undoubtedly, this is the best cake shop I've ever been to in Japan. I used to go all the way from Osaka to Rokko just to buy their cakes because I love them so much. Now, they have finally opened a new store in Osaka, and I'm already a regular customer there. The new store even has a stylish eat-in space called "SAISON" which is reservation-only, and you can enjoy melon cakes and exclusive menu items there, which is amazing.
Their ultimate cream-filled canelé is a must-try. It's inspired by the French traditional pastry "brioche savarin," with a moist texture soaked in an orange-flavored liqueur syrup. Inside, there's a special diplomat cream (custard + whipped cream) with a hint of vanilla bean, topped with Anglaise sauce, plenty of whipped cream, and a slightly bitter caramel sauce. It's a menu that cream lovers can't resist. It's a must-try. This specialty cannot be found anywhere else.
In addition to that, they also offer the famous melon cake, melon 100% juice, tarts, and cakes for takeout or eat-in reservation. Among them, the domestic strawberry tart, pistachio tart, pear tart, and chocolate tart are highly recommended. The diamond-like texture of their tarts is incredible. Once you try it, you won't be able to go back to other tarts. It's truly amazing, and words can't fully express it.
I highly recommend making a reservation in advance, as they tend to get fully booked quickly. It's a place that I want to share but also want to keep to myself. They also offer tart and cake reservations, and I always make sure to reserve the strawberry tart in advance. For eat-in, I recommend the ultimate cream-filled canelé and melon cake, along with melon juice and mint tea. For takeout, don't hesitate to choose their tarts generously. And don't forget to try the freshly baked canelé from the new store. You will definitely get addicted to it. I've tried canelés in many places, but this is truly the best canelé in Japan. The canelé is amazing. The tarts are amazing. Make sure to visit before it gets fully booked.
