I could see the owner preparing the food from my seat, it was a simple and very gentle flavor, with soft noodles ^_^ I sprinkled some pepper halfway through, lol. I always prioritize taste and cost-performance, so I consider this restaurant to be a good choice.

I had to wait for the restaurant to open for 30 minutes, so I decided to explore the neighborhood. That's when I stumbled upon a restaurant that I had been wanting to try for a while. They had a daily changing menu displayed outside, so I quickly went in. The restaurant was long and narrow, with a raised seating area at the back and an L-shaped counter in the middle. I ordered the shrimp chili set meal. The shrimp tempura also looked delicious. The dish was served to the customer who lived nearby before me, and I was surprised by how quickly it was served. The dish consisted of shrimp, onions, and bell peppers, with five large shrimp. The flavor was just right, not too sweet, with a good balance of acidity and spiciness. Even children would enjoy the taste. The shrimp was firm and delicious, without any unpleasant smell. This is what a good city-style Chinese set meal should taste like. The delicious egg and seaweed soup and the side dish of seaweed stems complemented the meal perfectly. The rice was good, but this meal would be perfect with two servings of rice. It would also make a great accompaniment to drinks. Overall, it was a delightful meal. The friendly atmosphere of the kitchen run by a happy couple added to the experience.

Inside, it was a local Chinese restaurant. I was in the mood for noodles, so I ordered the Gomoku Soba. I visited a little after 11 o'clock, so I waited leisurely. The Gomoku Soba came in a shallow bowl with plenty of eggs. The noodles were slightly thick and fluffy. The broth was not too strong, with little greasiness, making it a refreshing Gomoku Soba. It had various ingredients like wood ear mushrooms, pork, and bamboo shoots. At 650 yen, it was quite a good value. I was curious about the "Katsu Don" on the menu. I wondered what a Chinese-style Katsu Don would be like. My visit was around Christmas time, and they were also taking reservations for Christmas chicken.

In this area, there are not many restaurants, but there are some deep-rooted, community-based places that are thriving. Heiwa Restaurant is one of those places. The exterior doesn't look very Chinese, and even inside, it doesn't feel like a typical Chinese restaurant. The local old men are enjoying shochu at the counter. I started with a beer and checked the menu, but they didn't seem to have mapo tofu. However, they offer half-sized dishes which is nice. I tried the spicy squid with ink sauce. The thickness of the sauce was amazing. The first bite was so sour that it made me cough, but it was delicious. They also have plenty of manga to read. It's a cozy place. I would like to try one of those next time.

<2015.8> Fukuoka Day 2♪ From 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, Kobuta had some errands to run... We had plenty of time for lunch breaks, so we decided to have a leisurely lunch. However, the heat was unbearable. So, we ended up choosing the closest Chinese restaurant for lunch for the next few days. Before entering, we were surprised by the daily special (Mapo Tofu set or Chicken Tempura set) for ¥650. We thought the portions might be small, but anyway, Kobuta ordered the Chicken Tempura set and D-chan ordered the Chinese rice bowl, and we also shared a Champon. The Chinese rice bowl arrived first, with a rich color and flavor. It looked as flavorful as it tasted. After a while, Kobuta's Chicken Tempura set arrived. It was a huge portion for ¥650! It was more like fried chicken rather than tempura, with a rich flavor and tender chicken. When we were halfway through, the Champon arrived. It had a generous portion, but it felt like it wasn't enough after the flavorful Chinese rice bowl. The flavor was surprisingly light. We both love Champon, so we enjoyed it anyway. It was delicious. Yesterday we went to a different Chinese restaurant, but today we were late for lunch at the place we wanted to go, so we ended up at Heiwa Restaurant. The daily specials were "Ginger Pork" and "Omudon". Kobuta had the Ginger Pork, D-chan had the Tianjin rice bowl, and we also shared some fried vermicelli. Once again, we were satisfied. Sometimes, high-end Chinese food is good, but these affordable and popular Chinese restaurants are still delicious (*^^*). They have been in business for around 42 years.
