I didn't know that Kasu Udon was famous... I finally went there after not knowing about it. The smooth udon noodles go well with the gentle broth and are delicious. Osaka's light flavor is just right. The oil residue is also good. The prices here are reasonable and you can eat well. Thank you for the meal.

One of the specialties in the southern part of Osaka is Kas udon. Sometimes I crave Kasuya's Kas udon in Yaoyao, which also serves yakiniku and is quite good. However, going from yakiniku to udon means definitely going overboard on calories. Lately, I only need beef tongue and skirt steak. ☺️

I had the Harami set meal and Katsuya dipping noodles at Katsuya in Yao City, Osaka Prefecture. Before heading to a preview event for a new product with my boss and other colleagues, we decided to grab a bite to eat. The Harami set meal looked delicious, so I ordered that, and feeling a bit hungry, I also added the Katsuya dipping noodles. I thought it would be ramen noodles, but it turned out to be udon noodles. The dish had a crispy outer layer and a chewy inside, with a fragrant taste and low fat content, rich in collagen. The "katsu" was made by slowly frying beef offal until the fat was completely removed, then added generously to the dipping sauce. The flavorful soup was carefully crafted by Katsuya and was quickly devoured. I even finished all the dipping sauce.

Yakiniku lunch is here. If you have green onion salt sauce and tongue, you will be happy.

I often use it for lunch. The combination of Upper Kalbi set, Upper Harami set, and Salted Tongue is a staple. Adding green onion salt sauce makes the rice taste even better. I think it's really nice as a weekend treat.

I used to love Kasuya Udon even before it became a chain store, and would go to eat it in Fujiidera. I went to the Kyuhouji store after a long time to eat Kasu Udon, but the broth was thin, the udon was hard, and the oil kasu smelled bad. It was not the Kasuya Kasu Udon that I have been eating since long ago. It is very disappointing that even the taste changes when it becomes a chain store. I will never go to Kasuya again.

It's convenient and helpful to have it right in front of the station.

Monday is a day off for the Chinese restaurant across from the office. I searched on Tabelog and explored the opposite side of the station. Unfortunately, the "phantom" grill restaurant, Jyotsugawa, was not open. I had been wanting to go to "Bunsman" for hamburgers, but they are closed on Mondays. So, I ended up coming here instead... Just four days ago, I tried Katsu Udon for the first time at a different restaurant during my long stay in Osaka. I wanted to wait a bit longer before trying it again, but my lunch break was ending, so I hurriedly ordered Katsu Udon. I made a big mistake and forgot my phone, so I only took a picture of the front of the restaurant later. The appearance is quite ordinary, so a photo may not be necessary... The regular Katsu Udon costs 556 yen. During lunchtime, you get free rice with it. The umami flavor of the katsu seeps into the udon broth, so rice is a must. And it's all you can eat! People from Kanto may mock "rice with udon??? Carbohydrate overload!" but this is Osaka, a carb heaven. Whether it's biathlon or triathlon, it's a carb world here. Not only rice, but also free refills of furikake. In addition to Soup On The Rice, I wanted a little side dish... I couldn't decide between karaage or horumon, so I added Horumon Yaki for 300 yen. Still, it's under 1,000 yen. In conclusion, I should have gone with karaage (laughs). It's not bad, but it's more like a boiled or stewed horumon yaki instead of grilled. It feels like a ginger-flavored stir-fry made with horumon instead of pork. It was 300 yen, but it felt more like a snack for beer than a combination of horumon fat + sauce with rice. The new guy is still a bit inexperienced, but the other staff members are very friendly and the atmosphere is quite nice. Compared to the restaurant that boasted "using only domestically produced beef katsu" four days ago, the katsu here was a bit tough and had a slight lingering smell, but this flavor is my default and I have no problem with it. Plus, it's almost half the price. Overall, no issues and very satisfied.

Kasu Udon, a restaurant with about 20 locations in the southern part of Osaka, also offers horumon-yaki (grilled offal) dishes. Even though they have expanded nationwide, their kasu udon is completely different from other chain restaurants. If you try the kasu udon here, there's a high chance you'll end up loving it. The broth has a nice balance of kombu and bonito flavors, with a hint of yuzu, not too strong. The crispy fried pork fat has just the right amount of oiliness and no unpleasant smell. The udon noodles are chewy like hand-made ones, perfectly cooked. The horumon-yaki is made with a mix of offal, giving it a nostalgic taste. It's boiled and marinated before being grilled, resulting in a delicious dish that goes well with rice or drinks. The alcohol selection is also reasonably priced. And to top it off, all the staff members are beautiful ladies. When you're in the Kansai area, be sure to stop by and try it out. I even bought some as souvenirs. 2 servings for 1080 yen. Perfect!

Not only katsu udon, but also yakiniku. A soul food in the area of Habikino and Fujiidera in Osaka Prefecture, katsu udon. When it comes to katsu udon, the chain store that is expanding is KASUYA. I didn't know there was one in Yao. I visited for the first time with a friend. Before trying the katsu udon, we had a light meal with the yakiniku. We ordered the bamboo set for 3-4 people and some additional dishes. The quality of the meat is average, typical for a casual izakaya. The alcohol options are mostly under 400 yen per glass, which is commendable. The katsu udon had no unpleasant smell of pork. It was udon with a dashi broth made from bonito and kelp. While the izakaya aspect may leave something to be desired in terms of variety, this place is recommended for its focus on katsu udon.
