Near the main gate of Asahiyama Zoo, there is a snack shop that offers takeout only. They have benches and tables outside for customers. The service was okay. I bought a Calpis for 300 yen this time. The taste was average, but it was much appreciated as it was unexpectedly hot in Hokkaido during the summer.

The soft serve ice cream at the Asahiyama Zoo is located closest to the main entrance. The cup costs 350 yen and the cone costs 400 yen. It wasn't particularly creamy, but I was hoping for more of a milky flavor so I was a little disappointed. There is a restroom inside, so it's a good resting spot.

I am impressed by the warm meal. I wasn't expecting much, but my friend had a taste and we will eat at the rest area next door. Be careful not to slip. From Asahikawa Station to the zoo, we took a bus on the way there (very crowded, sweating from the heating). On the way back, we didn't hesitate to use a taxi. It cost about 4000 yen.

When I visited Asahiyama Zoo, I had a lunch consisting of Ezo deer meat Ezo deer jingisukan donburi and buttered potatoes. The Ezo deer jingisukan had firm and lean meat with a strong meaty texture. The buttered potatoes were seasoned with a hint of salt and were delicious. It was very enjoyable to eat while looking at the snow-covered scenery from the cozy cottage-style heated rest area.

●November 2, 2020 (Monday)●A cafe located right inside the main entrance of Asahikawa Zoo. I was caught in a sudden rain while wandering around the zoo, so I decided to take shelter and went to the shop. I ordered the "Ezo deer Genghis Khan rice bowl" that I had been wanting to try. It was only 690 yen for authentic game meat, which was quite reasonable. Since it was raining, I ate in the rest area, but the lack of background music made the space feel a bit impersonal. As for the rice bowl itself, it was neither good nor bad. It had a slightly unusual taste due to the meat, not like the straightforward taste of a beef bowl. However, since I have hardly ever eaten deer meat before, I have limited criteria to judge whether it was delicious or not. As a single rice bowl dish, it had a fresh taste and was enjoyable. It had a good portion size for a shop inside a zoo, and I was pleased that they didn't skimp on the meat. I went to Asahiyama Zoo and got hungry, so I went to Asahiyama Zoo Club. Here, you can enjoy a variety of dishes and snacks, from bite-sized snacks to meals. I visited Asahiyama Zoo, which has suddenly become popular. It was colder than Sapporo city, but thankfully there was no wind. It has been years since I last visited a zoo. I used to take my daughter on my shoulders and go out often. The performances are impressive and the animals are cute, making you forget about the cold. I had lunch at a restaurant near the main gate. I chose pork bowl and zangi. My companions all had soup curry. The food seemed to be reheated behind the counter, but we ate it in the adjacent mountain hut-style rest area. The warmth of the Daruma stove was comforting. The pork bowl had a good balance of sweet and salty sauce, and the meat was tender, making it delicious overall. The zangi had a slightly oily texture due to reheating, but the seasoning was good. The only downside was the lack of alcohol. The soup curry was spicy and the rice was surprisingly delicious. Overall, I found the lunch options at the theme park to be satisfying. We also enjoyed the winter-exclusive penguin parade, making it a fulfilling day at Asahiyama Zoo.

After touring the park, my wife saw the sample of soft serve ice cream in front of this shop and said, "I want to try it because the white cream with a cookie shaped like a white bear's butt is cute." Before the trip, she saw in the guidebook that she was interested in this soft serve ice cream (photo of a bear). There were three types of samples, and it said "you don't know what kind of cookie comes with it," but all of them were different colored bear butt cookies, so we decided to buy it. It was like buying a CD based on the cover, she liked the appearance and bought it. However, the cookie that came with the soft serve ice cream was not a "bear butt" cookie. It was a different cookie from the display, so I asked the staff, "Isn't it a bear butt cookie?" but they said, "It's a chick" and then went somewhere. I thought they should improve the confusing sample display and customer service, and if they want to sell it as a bear-themed item, they should focus on ordering bear-shaped cookies. Even though it's May, Hokkaido reached nearly 37 degrees, so it already feels like summer. After walking around a lot, I replenished with ice cream and shaved ice. I ordered a butt-shaped ice cream for 350 yen, and a lemon shaved ice for 300 yen. I chose a mix and chocolate ice cream. The cookies were in the shape of a duck and a polar bear, so cute! The ice cream was rich and cool, and the cookies were deliciously crispy. The shaved ice was served generously in a cup with refreshing lemon syrup. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I bought a meal ticket and ordered Asahikawa ramen. It was lunchtime but not crowded, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal.

I bought this for eating while walking at Asahiyama Zoo ♫ It's shaped like a churro but the inside is made of potatoes! The texture is chewy and addictive ( ^ω^ ) Thank you for the meal~

I wanted to try something local, so I had soy sauce tonkotsu ramen and soy sauce yakisoba. The ramen was delicious and surprisingly good! If you come here, definitely try the ramen!
