Today's lunch was at the French restaurant Chanfreash in Matsuyamayama, Yahata Nishi-ku, Kitakyushu City. I chose the 3000 yen course. It started with appetizers, followed by a salad with pate de campagne on top and a fruity, acidic sauce that was delicious. The soup was a cold summer corn soup, followed by bread. For the main course, I chose duck and sea bream, which had a delicious sauce. The dessert was peach-based. I'm happy to have found this hidden gem of a French restaurant nearby. I will definitely visit again.

Had lunch at the French restaurant "Champfleuri" in Hachiman Nishi-ku. Located in a residential area, so it might be hard to find without navigation for those who are not locals. The interior of the restaurant, which is a renovated house, consists entirely of table seats. It has a historical atmosphere, but is well-maintained and clean. The lunch menu offers three options: 1800, 2200, and 3500 yen, so I opted for the middle course. My companion had a beer. First, the appetizer was served, but I was too engrossed in conversation and missed taking a picture. It included lettuce at the bottom, topped with Parma ham, smoked salmon pate on country bread, chicken galantine, and seafood terrine. The soup was a rich pumpkin potage. The pasta was made with dry noodles, and that day it was Bolognese. Bread refills cost 100 yen. For the main course, you could choose between fish or meat, so I chose fish. That day, it was sautéed silver cod with white wine cream sauce. The sauce was delicious, so I wiped it clean with bread and finished every drop. Dessert was a homemade soufflé cheesecake and milk gelato combination. Both were to my liking, and the accompanying compote of apples and persimmons was also nice. Finished with tea. It's a slightly old-fashioned type of French cuisine, but it's cooked with care. The fact that they have been in business for a long time in this location is proof that they have fans. Thank you for the meal.

The appetizer was a variety of carpaccio, terrine, and prosciutto. The French Foie Gras and Duck Western-style Chawanmushi had a strong foie gras flavor which I didn't particularly enjoy. The baguette was delicious with a nice chewy texture and increasing sweetness with each bite. The main courses were Matsutai Polle with white wine sauce and Black Wagyu cooked sous vide with truffle sauce. Both dishes were tender and tasty, but the truffle sauce was on the lighter side. The dessert consisted of homemade cream cheese jelly and cherry blossom ice cream.

The location is quite difficult to find. Just like last time, I got a little lost this time as well. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant. It feels more like a house than a restaurant, and you can't see inside. It might take some courage to visit without any information, and it doesn't feel very casual... However, once inside, it didn't feel pretentious and the atmosphere was nice. There are about 30 seats, so it's probably best to make a reservation. The menu includes: Course A (\1680): Appetizer, Soup, Today's Main Dish, Dessert, Bread, Coffee (or Tea or Peach Tea) Course B (\2100): Appetizer, Soup, Pasta, Fish or Meat Dish, Dessert, Bread, Coffee (or Tea or Peach Tea) Special Lunch (\3000): Choice of Drink, Appetizer, Soup, Fish Dish, Meat Dish, Dessert, Bread, Coffee (or Tea or Peach Tea) There is a weekday lunch for around 1200 yen, but since it was Sunday, it was not available. The difference between Course A and Course B is whether there is pasta or not. This time, I was quite hungry, so I ordered Course B for 2100 yen. It included salmon, squid, chicken terrine, and chicken bacon as appetizers. The flavors were very refined. In particular, the terrine and bacon had a strong but delicious taste. The pumpkin cold soup was accidentally deleted from the photos, but it was sweet, flavorful, and delicious. The bread was a French baguette with gorgonzola penne cheese, with a rich and intense flavor. I thought the portions were small, but the richness made it just right. For the main course, my friend had fish and I had meat. The fish dish was swordfish with tapenade. Tapenade is a sauce made with anchovies, garlic, and olive oil. The fish was overcooked and had a strong fishy taste, leaving a bad aftertaste. The tapenade was delicious, but the main fish dish was disappointing. The meat dish was pork with sweet potatoes. The pork was tough and overcooked, making it quite hard to chew. Considering how delicious the other dishes were, the main dishes were... I couldn't help but wonder what went wrong. For dessert, we had chestnut ice cream and tiramisu. The chestnut ice cream was a nice seasonal touch, and both the ice cream and tiramisu were elegant with a mild sweetness. I hesitated between ordering coffee or orange juice, but I had plans to go to Starbucks later, so I opted for orange juice, which turned out to be delicious and rich. In November, I visited "Champ Fleurs" for lunch, located in the middle of a residential area. I wish I could enjoy a nice meal with plenty of wine, but with kids, it's not always possible. Some friends think, "Isn't it harder to enjoy without wine?" but oh well. There is parking in front of the restaurant. It was around noon, and the place was filled with elegant ladies. The interior had lovely paintings on the walls, and you could see the chef working in the kitchen at the back. The atmosphere was quite nice. I chose Course B. The appetizer included Tasmanian salmon, pickles, shredded chicken, and chicken pate. The flavors were refined and delicious. The cauliflower soup was creamy and had a gentle vegetable taste. The meat dish was venison, a rare treat for lunch. The fish dish was red snapper with a shrimp sauce, which I regret not ordering. The pasta was a mix of three flavors with mushrooms in a tomato base. The dessert was an apple tart with homemade milk ice cream, a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Overall, it was an elegant and satisfying lunch, perfect for women. The place was fully booked even on a weekday, so reservations are a must. The service was attentive and courteous.

On Mother's Day, I went to lunch with my mother and sister. We reserved the most luxurious "Course B" (2,100 yen) which was very reasonably priced. The restaurant was not very big, but the tables were spaced out nicely, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. First, we were served the "Red Chicken and Bacon Terrine". It was a delicious appetizer with rich chicken flavor and the smokiness of bacon, providing a satisfying bite. The soup was a "Tomato Cream Soup" with a natural sweetness and tanginess that whetted our appetites. The baguette served at the right time was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, so delicious that I couldn't help but have seconds (105 yen). Next, we had the "Wagyu Beef Ragout Pasta". The pasta was smooth and chewy, cooked al dente, and the tender beef and sauce melded together for a luxurious taste. For the main course, we chose between fish or meat. My mother and sister had the fish, "Pan-Fried Sea Bream", while I chose the meat, "Oyama Pork Saute". Both dishes were cooked perfectly to bring out the flavors of the ingredients, harmonizing well with the sauce, and were very delicious. For dessert, we enjoyed the "Strawberry Mille-Feuille" and "Strawberry Parfait", both using strawberries but offering different textures, crispy and fluffy, and both were delicious. Finally, we savored plenty of coffee and left the restaurant fully satisfied. Looking at the restaurant's website, the chef had worked at various Prince Hotels before returning to his hometown to open this restaurant with the desire to cook in a homely atmosphere while interacting directly with customers. Seeing customers of all ages enjoying their meals, it was clear that his wish had come true, and the restaurant was loved by the locals, leaving us with warm feelings from this delightful lunch experience.

I went to lunch with friends for the first time in a while. The price was very reasonable (1200 yen for lunch) and I was very satisfied. The menu included potage, main dish, bread, dessert, and a drink. You can choose between an appetizer and dessert for this course. (We chose dessert.) The food was delicious and well-prepared. The warm dishes were served warm and the cold dishes were served cold. There were fewer customers than before, perhaps due to the recession. I would like more people to experience this restaurant. It is located in a residential area, so it may be a bit hard to find, but they have a website where you can check the location.

I made a reservation because 6300 yen was 3150 yen. I had to order a drink, so I chose blood orange juice, which was delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, and we had a window seat which made the meal enjoyable. I don't remember the menu clearly, but the salad with prosciutto for the appetizer was just right in saltiness. The main meat dish was very tender, the sauce matched perfectly, and I wanted to eat more. We were the last customers for lunch, and there was a problem at the register. The chef came out and asked how the food was, which was a nice touch. I usually can't come because I have small children, but I definitely want to go again.

I visited the rumored restaurant in the residential area of Orio. I made a reservation for the busiest time at 12 o'clock. It was full, but they managed to squeeze us in. I ordered the mid-range 2100 yen lunch course, which included appetizer, soup, pasta, choice of fish or meat, and dessert. Everything tasted homemade. The hot coffee at the end was a bit weak for my liking. I could see the owner cooking in the kitchen and the wife serving, both working hard. I hope they continue to do well together.

I sometimes go there, but this time I went with my family because my son came home. We ordered the "Spring in Full Bloom" course, which was priced at 2800 yen and included 6 dishes - starting with a platter of appetizers, followed by soup, a choice of meat or fish main dish, foie gras rice bowl, and dessert. The soup, made with peas, had a slightly grassy taste which I didn't particularly enjoy. I've had a chilled potato soup before which was delicious. For the main dish, I chose the braised Hokkaido beef over the pan-fried sea bream, but my wife preferred the sea bream. What surprised me was the foie gras rice bowl that came next. It was incredibly delicious, with foie gras on a bed of mixed grain rice cooked in a flavorful sauce. It was the first time they served this dish, but I hope they make it a regular menu item. We also ordered a cheese platter and enjoyed it with some wine, making the total cost around 5000 yen per person. It was a great deal.

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, I tried a limited-time takeout menu (reservation required). It was even more delicious than I imagined. And all for just 2,000 yen - what a deal! I couldn't help but think how amazing it would be to enjoy it warm at the restaurant. Once the situation settles down, I definitely want to visit the restaurant in person.
