In Fukuoka City's Nishi Ward, along the coast of Imazu, there is a "Taiwanese Cafe" that opened on 7/7 with the concept of "Itoshima x Taiwan." It is located near the popular Itoshima Shokudo. There is a fairly large parking lot across the road from the entrance of the restaurant. There are also terrace seats outside the entrance, and the exterior of the restaurant is stylish. The interior of the restaurant is open and spacious, with a great view of the sea right in front of it. On this sunny day, many people were windsurfing, looking very enjoyable. I love water sports, if only I were 20 years younger. (^◇^;) There are counter seats by the window and table seats in the center, making it quite spacious. The lighting is reminiscent of Taiwan. The restaurant specializes in Taiwanese cuisine using Itoshima ingredients, as well as Taiwanese tea & sweets, and stylish drinks. We tried a few dishes to share.
- Braised pork rice & sweet potato fries set (1,400 yen including tax), served with warm Taiwanese tea.
* The braised pork rice is served in a small bowl, with tenderly simmered pork belly (from Itoshima), boiled egg, pickled mustard greens, and coriander. It seems like pickled mustard greens are not usually included in Taiwan, but it's a fusion with Itoshima. (^◇^;)
* The pork is tender and flavorful, and the rice is made with mixed grains, making it healthy. There was more rice than expected, and the sauce was delicious.
- Sweet potato fries - fried sweet potatoes. You can choose between "Itoshima vegetable mayo" and "cream cheese chili." We chose "cream cheese chili," which turned out to be surprisingly delicious. ^^*
- Taiwanese tea - there was no explanation, but it was probably oolong tea.
- Kumamoto ginger tea soda (600 yen including tax) - I took a sip, and it had a strong ginger flavor. It feels like it can purify you from the inside.
- Itoshima-style "pepper cake" (450 yen including tax) - it seems to be a Taiwanese soul food. The filling is similar to the filling of a meat bun. It is made with Itoshima pork, and it gives the impression of a baked meat bun. The taste was average. The photo is not bitten, but broken by hand. (^◇^;)
The location is great, and I was able to relax while watching people windsurfing, as I love the sea. ^^ Inside the restaurant, Itoshima vegetables, processed products, and restaurant merchandise were also being sold. It might get quite crowded on weekends or during the summer holidays. It's a good place for a break during an Itoshima drive date.♪
