On this day, I casually visited "Karaage specialty store Karakichi Iihori store".
Exterior and Interior:
This karaage restaurant is located in Iihori, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyushu City. I remember it used to be a ramen shop, but it has transformed into a trendy store. The exact opening date is unclear, but the interior is still fresh and clean. There is a TV playing in the background, and there is a bit of clutter with menus and information, but they have seating for dining in, as well as delivery services.
Seating:
There are 3 dining seats available.
Menu Composition:
The karaage comes in two flavors, soy sauce and salt, with variations like Nanban, sweet sauce, and spicy. They also offer bento boxes, with the option for a mixed bento. They also have other side dishes like pig's feet, croquettes, and sand liver karaage. I ordered the following:
- Kyushu soy sauce karaage (2 pieces for 260 yen) - about 110g. Each piece is around 130 yen, so it's confirmed to be larger than average. After a few minutes of waiting, the karaage arrived, and it was indeed large. The Kyushu soy sauce flavor had a noticeable amount of garlic, giving it a strong flavor. The breading was crispy, and the meat was juicy and tender. The only downside was that it was a bit oily, but overall, it was delicious.
Strong Points:
Large and juicy karaage.
Service:
Average.
Overall:
It had been a while since I visited Iihori. This day, I had my kimono dressed, but we only stayed for 10 minutes... My daughter, like me, makes quick decisions. This way, we might avoid getting scolded by Kintaki Sakonosuke next time. Thank you for the meal! ^ ^
