At Ebisutei, a specialty restaurant for Gyudon in Nihonbashi, the beef Gyudon costs 800 yen (tax included). The beef is slightly firm, and you can get a free upgrade to a large serving of rice. The sauce and rice seem to be more to my liking compared to the long queues at Dotonbori Niku Gekijou, a popular spot among foreigners. It turns out that Ebisutei is affiliated with Takoyaki Ebisu.

I stopped by a beef bowl restaurant in the electric town of Nihonbashi because I didn't have time for a leisurely lunch. It's a small counter-only place where the staff is handling everything alone, so the service is a bit slow for a fast-food style restaurant. When the food arrived, my first impression was that the bowl was small. The main beef bowl was disappointing for the price of 1000 yen, the meat was tough and not particularly tasty. The mini beef tendon udon was decent. It's understandable why the place was empty during lunchtime.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. The chicken bowl looked delicious, but this time I went with the most popular option, the kalbi bowl. The counter has 4 seats, and you buy a ticket from the vending machine to place your order. It seems like you can also get takeout by purchasing a ticket. A man was running the place alone, taking orders and then grilling the meat. I only caught a glimpse, but it looks like they grill the kalbi and then cut it up with scissors before serving. The kimchi had just the right amount of spiciness.

A donburi restaurant along Sakaisuji in Ponbashi. I had been curious about it because I pass by it often, but there were always few customers whenever I looked. To be honest, customers are drawn to places with more people. I ordered the Kalbi Don (700 yen), extra meat (200 yen), and extra green onions (100 yen) for a total of 1000 yen. The taste is typical, like what you would find at Yoshinoya or Matsuya. The portion of rice is generous. If I'm going to spend 1000 yen, I'd rather eat something different. If the price were 300 yen less, I might have higher expectations for this place.

In Osaka's Nihonbashi, the turnover rate of food and beverage establishments is unusually high. Bad restaurants disappear in an instant. Recently, there has been a lot of buzz about "Ebisutei Nihonbashi," so I decided to check it out. The interior of the restaurant only has counter seats and is operated by a ticket machine. On rainy days, they offer special deals. The ticket machine offers dishes like Kalbi Don, Chicken Don, and Hetadon. You can also get takeout, making it convenient to eat at your office. They offer both sweet and salty sauces, and I chose the sweet one. The rice comes in a large portion. The service is speedy, with only a few minutes of waiting. On the day I visited, they also served soup as a bonus due to the rainy weather. Personally, I'm not a fan of having kimchi and other toppings mixed in the same bowl. I would have preferred if they were served in a separate small dish. I also wished there was more meat. While the meat wasn't dry, I felt it lacked juiciness and the sweetness of the meat fat. The sweet sauce was appetizing, and even with the large portion of rice, I finished it quickly. With the increase of Kalbi Don restaurants nationwide, I hope they strive to stand out with unique flavors or perfect the classic taste.

Competition is about gaining the experience of tasting the bitter flavor of defeat. At the Japan Athletics Championships, Chisato Fukushima was defeated by Hanaka Ichikawa. Her position as the unbeatable champion in Japan came to an end in just one race. There can only be one winner, and the path to victory is tough. No matter how invincible a champion may seem, they cannot avoid defeat. It's not strange to lose. Today, I went to Ebisutei, a beef bowl restaurant located in Nippombashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka. While the recommended dish is the beef bowl, I decided to try the chicken bowl. The chicken thigh meat was cut into bite-sized pieces and served with a flavorful sauce over a bed of rice. A side of kimchi added a nice touch to the meal. The rice was surprisingly delicious and satisfying. After finishing the meal, I was full and satisfied. Next to Ebisutei is a champon noodle restaurant called Okeidon. They have irregular hours, so I haven't had a chance to visit yet, but as a fan of champon noodles, it's a place I'd like to try someday. The path we take should be one of diligence and perseverance, with no regrets in the end.

Today is Tuesday. On my way back to the company housing, I got hungry. While wandering around the area of Ebisu, I stumbled upon a new restaurant called Ebisutei, which serves beef bowl. I decided to eat here today. Inside, there are long red counters along the walls on both sides. There were two groups of customers at 8:30 in the evening. I looked at the menu at the ticket machine. They offered chicken bowl, pork bowl, and beef bowl. I decided to go with the beef bowl, which is also the restaurant's namesake. There were two sizes available, regular and large. I chose the regular size for 700 yen, with extra rice for 100 yen. I also ordered soup for 100 yen. I sat at the counter behind a large water dispenser. A man came to pick up his food ticket. I waited for a while. What bothered me was the volume of the music. It was too loud for a restaurant. Well, it's not a club after all. But really, it was noisy. Not the kind of volume you'd expect during a meal. Just then, a young woman brought me the beef bowl and soup. At first glance, it didn't look like a large portion even with the extra rice. Well, this kind of perception can lead to lifestyle diseases... The beef was cut into small pieces. The secret sauce had a taste similar to barbecue sauce and it soaked into the meat nicely. It went well with the rice. The kimchi covering about 30% of the surface of the bowl also paired perfectly. And let's not forget the mini soup. It had a unique taste with a hint of sesame flavor, which helped cleanse the oil in my mouth. In the end, I was full. I was satisfied with the food. However, there was a curtain hanging in the kitchen, but I could hear the chitchat of the male and female staff who seemed to be part-time workers. Just a heads up, customers can see and hear you. Thank you for the meal.

It's a restaurant called "Ebisuya," located right nearby, known for their takoyaki. I ended up going in past 11 PM, feeling a bit guilty about having meat and rice so late at night, but my stomach was empty and I wanted something warm to eat. The place is small, with only 4 or 5 seats available. They only have one menu item, with the option for a regular or large serving (mostly just more rice). The rice itself is pretty average in taste, but the portion is quite generous. On top, there's plenty of kalbi beef and kimchi. The sauce is delicious, sweet with a spicy kick, and I could eat several bowls of rice with just the sauce alone. The kimchi adds to the flavor as well. However, the beef is just okay, with a lot of gristle that I had to pick out. If they used better quality meat, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more and coming back more often.

Here is a review of a sister store of the takoyaki shop "Ebisu" located nearby, which specializes in beef bowl. The regular size is 800 yen and the large size is 900 yen. The beef in the bowl is thinly sliced and marinated in a sweet soy sauce. It is served with kimchi and sunny lettuce. The taste is delicious but lacks a punch. Honestly, you could probably make the same dish at home. The price and taste seem to be quite far apart. However, this place probably focuses more on takeout and delivery, especially during late-night hours, so the prices might be reasonable considering the location. The staff members are energetic and friendly.

The service from the staff was very unpleasant and condescending, despite the delicious food. It's a shame, I will not be returning.
