探食!
First visit. We ordered relatively high-priced items (hair crab, softshell turtle, shark fin, abalone) and also drank quite a bit of sake, so it ended up being around 15,000 yen per person, but normally you can enjoy it without spending that much. It was a meal with someone I hadn't seen in a long time, so we ordered without hesitation. The menu and prices are in the images. There is also a hot pot that requires a reservation in advance but is not listed here. The appetizer was mainly beef, which is rare for this type of restaurant, with a good balance of fat and condiments, making it easy to eat quickly. Starting with the sashimi, there was no disappointment. The cuttlefish could have had a bit more fat, but overall it was good. Next, the most delicious dish was the hair crab with crab miso. As shown in the image, the miso is mixed with the crab meat without cutting it, leaving the white meat to enjoy separately, which is delightful. This way, you can enjoy the crab meat itself and also the pleasure of eating it with the miso. The crab was boiled perfectly, with a great texture and taste. We had seconds of this dish. The softshell turtle and shark fin dish with burnt leeks and rice cakes was a bit too sweet for me, but I enjoyed the unique thick texture and umami of the softshell turtle broth. The soup and slightly burnt rice cake go very well together, creating a warm feeling. I also thought that the rice cakes helped to fill up the stomach. The shark fin in the dish was quite thin, so using thicker pieces would allow you to enjoy the broth more. The price may be sufficient as it is now, but it might be necessary to use easily replaceable shark fin due to the ease of ordering without a reservation. The abalone dish is very cost-effective considering the portion size. There is room to make it even softer and enhance the flavor of the abalone, but I am satisfied considering the price. The grilled flounder with miso marinade was cooked and flavored well, but it was too salty, so we left some. Some of the pickled vegetables were a bit too salty, which may be the preference of the owner. Three female staff members, likely part-time workers, appeared at the right times. While they didn't provide detailed explanations, I think the service is sufficient given the price range. If you want to go to a proper Japanese restaurant with a luxurious budget rather than an izakaya, this place is perfect. I definitely want to visit again.
