Comparatively easy weekend, Saturday I visited in search of delicious green curry after a long time. Personally, this place is in the top 5 for green curry in the city. This time, I had it with fresh spring rolls and herbal tea. It took about 7 minutes for the dishes to arrive. First, I tried the spring rolls, and the sweet chili sauce was amazing. Then, the main dish, the green curry, was perfect as always, with a balance of spiciness, coconut flavor, and gentle sweetness. It was still the best green curry.

When you feel like eating authentic Thai cuisine, this is the place to visit. The lunch menu is reasonably priced. I visited at 12pm on a weekday and the restaurant was full. The kitchen seemed very busy with just one person. This time, I ordered the green curry. It was not too spicy and had a delicious flavor that you can get addicted to. You can choose from chicken, pork, or beef for the meat. Everything I have tried here has been delicious, so I always have a hard time deciding what to order.

It's the time around the second half of lunchtime. It's hot. In times like this, I feel like having some ethnic food. Let's go to my favorite place. Oh, we can sit without waiting. Set meal with 3 side dishes 900 yen, Mini Yum Woon Sen 300 yen. I love Yum Woon Sen. They brought it out first so I can enjoy it while waiting for the main dish. I love the unique flavors that you can only find in this ethnic cuisine. The texture of the shrimp and squid is so delicious. This might be my first time trying Kaogeen. It's nice to be able to try a variety of dishes. First, I have the Khao Man Gai. Tender steamed chicken with Satay sauce. You can dip it a little and eat it as it is, or have it with extra sauce and rice. Next is the Gapao Gai. It's a classic. The strong flavor with basil aroma makes it easy to eat with as much rice as you want. Just be careful with the portions. Lastly, the Namprik Pao stir-fried fish. Namprik Pao? I looked it up, and it's chili sauce. It has a similar vibe to shrimp chili. The sauce coats the fried white fish well, making it another dish that goes well with rice. The firm texture of the fish gives it a satisfying bite. This is something I would definitely want to eat more of. Sweating, but enjoying the rich flavors, I finished my meal. It's still delicious. I want to come back again.

A low-key popular restaurant that is always busy, even slightly past lunchtime. As the evening approaches, more customers come to enjoy alcohol and delicious dishes. Surprisingly, there are many female customers. I ordered the Ga-Pao-Gai for a simple meal, which was reasonably priced even with additional toppings like fried egg. The herbs and spices were well balanced, making it easy to enjoy. However, the restaurant was a bit hot inside. Mixing the rice and air to enjoy the aroma, the spiciness could be increased for even more flavor. The movements of the owner also had a tropical feel. The slightly sticky floor even added to the ambiance. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

At first, I was aiming for a soba restaurant in the East district, but it was crowded with a long line in the heat. Next, I tried a coffee shop in the North entrance, but it also had a long line and slow turnover. Finally, I arrived at this shop that I wanted to try for a while. It was a bit full, but they said I could wait if I didn't mind. After about 20 minutes of waiting, my Gapao Gai with a fried egg arrived, costing 700 yen. The fried egg was slightly overcooked, which was a bit disappointing, but the Gapao was delicious. Without the fried egg, it would have been too cheap at 600 yen. By around 1 o'clock, all the previous customers had left, leaving only me. If I had come a little later, would the fried egg have been runny? What should I eat next time? I want to come back to this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I checked the reviews to predict the crowds and visited the restaurant at a slightly different time. The interior of the restaurant is small. There were 2 customers already, so it was a good decision to go at a different time. I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so I ordered the lunch plate with 3 items. It came with Gapaow, sweet and spicy white fish, black pepper shrimp with glass noodles. The Gapaow and glass noodles were reheated so they were hot, but the white fish was cold, which was a bit disappointing. I prefer to eat hot food when dining out! The Gapaow and glass noodles were tasty but a bit salty. If you're in the mood for ethnic food and want to try a variety of dishes, this place might be good. Thank you for the meal!

On Saturday, the restaurant was quiet and empty. I had a dish with three toppings on rice. The lemongrass squash I ordered after the meal was unexpectedly delicious. I realized halfway through drinking it that it had lime in it. It was a thoughtful touch. I like it. They have a wide variety of alcohol, so I have high expectations for the evening as well. It was delicious. I will come again.

2023.05.06 (Sat) 11:30 3rd revisit "I want to go to Gapao" My wife told me that Little Chill wants to go to Gapao when I returned home on May 5th. Little Chill is currently in the middle of baseball practice. Apparently, when asked what he wanted to eat on Children's Day that morning, he immediately replied that he wanted to go to the restaurant where he first tried Gapao Rice. I remember it well. I remember the first visit on January 12, 2019, when we visited after receiving good news from a child talent audition. I devoured a whole serving because it was so delicious. The second visit was on October 19, 2019, when Middle Chill, who loves Thai food, joined us to eat Gapao Rice. It seems that the legendary Yasukojiya House restaurant that captivated our 4-year-old at the time is a must-visit if Little Chill wants to go. However, unfortunately, the dinner menu is different, so let's go for lunch on the next day, the 6th. On the 6th, a rest day for Little Chill's baseball, he skipped breakfast in anticipation of Gapao Rice and finished his hated homework before visiting. When the restaurant opened, there were 3 groups and 5 people waiting in line. After us, 2 more groups arrived. It's still a popular restaurant. Except for the 2-seater tables, the restaurant was almost full. We ordered 3 servings of Gapao Gai (topped with fried egg) for 700 yen each, and my wife's favorite fresh spring rolls (shrimp and coriander) for 350 yen. Oh, it's so delicious! It's been 4 years, but the excitement from back then quickly came back. The fish sauce is subtle, and the spice level is just right for Japanese taste, making it a "delicious Gapao Rice." The three of us silently nodded as we enjoyed our meal. It was a simple happiness for Yasukojiya House. "Oh, that was delicious, wasn't it?" This made Children's Day, one day late but special and memorable.

Lemongrass squash for ¥500 and Khao Man Gai for ¥750. After 3:30 pm on holidays, there were 2 groups of customers already. During dinner time, it's a one drink per person policy. Since I had to work afterwards, I reluctantly ordered a soft drink. It's been a while since I had Thai food and I was excited. Although there are many items available at supermarkets, I just can't bring myself to make them at home. It's strange. I love both Gapao and Khao Man Gai. The soup that used to be served at a snack bar run by a Thai mom I used to visit in Niigata was also delicious. They don't serve soup here, which made me realize how special it was. I enjoyed a delicious Khao Man Gai after a long time. The prices have gone up, but I still think it's a good deal. I would like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Eating papaya salad with dishes like Gapa, Kao Man Gai, and curry for lunch can help you understand the taste direction of the Thai restaurant. It is a lightly seasoned, less salty, mildly spicy, and Japanized Thai cuisine.

GAPAO GAI B Set 1000, KAO MAN GAI B Set 1100. The B Set comes with two appetizers. The appetizers were served as four different dishes, and I particularly liked the chicken gizzards. The soup of Kao Man Gai had a subtle flavor of fish sauce and salt, which complemented the chicken well. The seasoning of ginger, sauce, and rice in Kao Man Gai was elegant and delicious. The Gapao had a mild basil flavor, not too overpowering, and the spiciness was quite low in the normal version. They offer free extra spiciness, so I recommend trying it. The rice was cooked perfectly, although I would prefer Jasmine rice over the Japanese rice.

I want to eat Yam Wun Sen! I found this place near Sapporo Station that is open all day, so I decided to stop by. It's past 3 o'clock and there are no customers. I couldn't decide between another dish, but I chose the Green Curry instead of the Gapao Rice. The Yam Wun Sen is not as strong in flavor as I usually like, but it's still delicious and easy to eat. I'm dining alone, so I'm happy that I can eat this amount at this price. The Green Curry is also delicious, but spicy. I want a drink. They don't have water, so I'll have an herbal tea, please. The prices are reasonable, so I'll come back next time to try the Gapao Rice. Maybe even the Khao Man Gai... Thank you for the meal.

Pad Kra Pao Gai (Stir-fried chicken with holy basil) with extra spicy, Thai street food style, is great because you can order quickly, eat quickly, and leave the restaurant quickly. I wanted to try Pad Kra Pao Moo (Stir-fried pork with holy basil) but they didn't have it today, so I had Pad Kra Pao Gai instead. Both are delicious, so it's okay.

I had a large serving of extra spicy Pad Krapow Moo (Thai basil pork) after a long time, but I just had to eat it. Adding extra ingredients and making it spicier makes it taste even better. It's cheap and delicious, and you can really feel the taste of Thailand. It's very similar to the Pad Krapow and Khao Man Gai I had at the street stalls in Bangkok, which is great!

Visited a restaurant near Saitama Shintoshin North Exit. They are considerate of allergies and preferences, so even those who dislike cilantro commonly found in Asian cuisine can enjoy. Prices are very reasonable, around 500-600 yen for individual dishes. I ordered a set with a drink and one appetizer. The Khao Man Gai and the appetizer of turnips and sand liver are both lightly seasoned. Khao Man Gai Set A for 990 yen.

This time, I visited the restaurant around a late lunch time and a bit early for dinner. Due to the timing, there were no other customers in the restaurant. I was thinking of having Khao Man Gai, but ended up ordering Gapao Rice. It was served in about 5 minutes, with a fried egg on top of the rice and minced meat stir-fried with onions, bell peppers, zucchinis, and other vegetables. The aroma of spices was strong, but it wasn't too spicy, so it's recommended for those who don't like spicy food. The price was very reasonable, so if you feel like one dish is not enough, trying other menu items together might be a good idea. I noticed a dish called Pad Thai on the menu, which caught my interest. Maybe I'll try that next time? Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

I visited for dinner at a slightly early time than usual. I wanted to try Massaman curry, so I ordered it without hesitation. I also requested chicken skin gyoza, but unfortunately they were sold out that day. Instead, I ordered shumai. The Massaman curry was served in about 5 minutes. It looked very red and spicy at first, but when I tasted it, I could feel the sweetness of coconut milk within the spiciness, making it very delicious. The potatoes and meat inside were both soft and very tasty. The shumai took a bit longer, about 15 minutes after ordering. Compared to Chinese shumai, the skin was thin and not very noticeable, and the filling was moist. It was very delicious when served hot. Getting these two dishes for only 1000 yen with change back was very reasonable. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

I came back after a long time. Since it's been a while, I want to try various dishes. Let's see the menu and consult with my hunger level. Pad Thai and Tom Yum Soup Plate for 1,500 yen, Yam Khuruan Nai for 400 yen. I chose the homemade lemongrass squash as the set drink. The homemade drink has a very attractive sound. It's refreshing with a mild sweetness and carbonation. Yam Khuruan Nai has chewy sand liver. It would be a great snack with alcohol. I'm not sure if the leaves and bamboo shoots in Tom Yum Gai are edible or not, so I'll skip them this time. The soup is rich, spicy, and slightly oily. The Coriander Potato Salad is interesting. It might be a hit or miss depending on taste preferences. I personally like its unique flavor. Gai Xiao is like a quiche or Italian omelette. It's lightly seasoned and good for a break between bites. I really wanted to eat Pad Thai. I love the ethnic flavors in this dish! It's packed with eggs, juicy shrimp, and a satisfying portion size. I enjoyed trying a variety of dishes and left feeling satisfied.

I visited during a late lunch and early dinner time at a restaurant called Gapaou near the south gate of Hokkaido University. The interior had 8-seat tables and a 6-seat counter, with partitions between every two seats. As it was a quiet time, there were no other customers. The restaurant serves Thai cuisine. I decided to try their Green Curry, a simple dish of curry with rice which cost 550 yen. The curry was flavorful with tender chicken and what seemed to be turnips, in a coconut milk base with a good balance of sweetness and spiciness. The aroma of spices was also delightful. I enjoyed it very much and finished it quickly. I think Gapaou Rice might be their main dish, so I will try that next time. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will visit again.

Lunchtime from 11:30 to 14:00 every day in December 2020 offers Gapao Rice and Thai Curry for only 500 yen excluding tax, which is quite reasonable! The Thai Curry Set A is priced at 880 yen and you can choose from Green (very spicy), Red (spicy), or Massaman (medium spicy) curry. It comes with one side dish and herbal tea. The side dishes included in the set were fresh spring rolls with punchy sweet chili sauce, seafood glass noodle salad with a refreshing sour taste, green papaya salad with a crunchy texture, and sand liver with white turnip which had an unexpected combination with a strong lemon flavor. I chose the Massaman curry which had a spicy kick with a creamy sweetness from the coconut milk, and the chicken was tender and delicious. It also had fried potatoes in it which can be choking if you're not careful. It seems like they have a lot of delivery orders coming in. I would like to try other dishes on their menu as well. Thank you for the meal!
