When my family moved to Itoshima, we heard rumors about a famous bakery near Fukuyoshi Station called "Wheat Seed Family". It was a tiny shop with the shutter half open at the entrance, and they would sell out within 30 minutes of opening, making it almost like a mythical place. I tried to visit a few times, but never managed to actually go inside. Then, there was an accident - a trailer crashed into the shop, causing it to be completely destroyed and closed for a long time. However, there were rumors of its comeback, and finally in February of this year, it reopened. I had been meaning to go, but kept putting it off. Everyone seemed to be eagerly awaiting its return, as I received gifts from various people who had visited the shop. It was clear that the locals loved it. Now, in December, I finally made the time to go and visit. The new shop was adorable, and even though I arrived right at opening time at 10 am, there were already customers inside. The bread was all packed in bags, and the system involved taking a basket to pick out your items. Each bread cost only 120 yen, which was incredibly cheap. I bought three savory breads, a banana cake, and an apple cake for a total of 600 yen. The bread looked delicious, and there were also cakes in the showcase. I quickly returned to my workplace to try them out. The savory breads were surprisingly good, with one being a Wiener bread and the other a gratin bread. They were packed with flavor and ingredients, making them very satisfying. The two cakes were for my wife and daughters, and they were a decent size and tasted great. The shop also had a separate area that seemed like a cafe, hinting at future plans. It was a bit lonely in the Fukuyoshi area, but with this shop at the center, things are looking up. I finally visited "Wheat Seed Family", and when I asked about the name origin, it was interesting and lovely. Itoshima is filled with wonderful bakeries, and I look forward to visiting this one again soon.
