Rumoi... I searched but couldn't find any interesting restaurants besides sushi and seafood ones. One place that caught my eye was "Kitchen RuRu." Despite its café-like name, it offers a variety of dishes like set meals, curry, soba, and udon, giving it a cafeteria-like feel. Located on the 4th floor of the Rumoi Joint Government Building, it's quite a stylish name for a public facility eatery. I visited just before closing time at 11 am, with no other customers in sight. Looking at the menu board outside, I noticed that the daily specials hadn't been updated, still showing last week's offerings. The weekly set meals included options like A set meal, B set meal, C set meal, and bento, but today's menu was a mystery. I took a chance and ordered the C set meal for 550 yen. I handed my ticket to the three older ladies in the kitchen, who then placed an order for "pork belly" with the cook. I was curious to see what would come out. Doesn't this kind of anticipation make dining fun? After pouring myself some water and tea, I sat at a window seat on the 4th floor, enjoying the surprisingly nice view of the low-rise buildings around. When the food arrived, it was a stir-fry of pork belly and eggplant, accompanied by burdock salad and pickles. The dish was a bit oily but lightly seasoned, which I enjoyed. The miso soup, with ingredients like cabbage, onion, komatsuna, and carrot, had a mild saltiness. Although I wished the rice quality was a bit better, considering the price, it was acceptable. As I was eating, I realized the menu hadn't been updated, and when asked by one of the ladies if I had seen it, I jokingly replied that I would eat anything, which made her smile. Looking at the menu again on my way out, I regretted not choosing the B set meal with curry instead. Nevertheless, I had a delicious meal. Thank you for the meal!
