I had heard that Tarafuku was a shop that catered to students, serving cheap yakitori, so I had always assumed that the quality would be mediocre. However, the yakitori here was surprisingly good in both quantity and taste, priced at only 50 yen per skewer! I entered the shop around 11 PM, thinking of grabbing a quick bite somewhere. The place was bustling with students, chatting and having a good time. It seemed like mostly students from schools like Seinan Gakuin University in Nishijin. Stepping into such a place really makes you feel the energy of youth. The shop was filled with people enjoying yakitori, with shelves lined with bottles of shochu. I ordered a draft beer for 480 yen, which came in a metal mug along with a half-cooked boiled egg as a complimentary dish. I also ordered 6 skewers of yakitori for 50 yen each, as well as a plate of amberjack sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, a recommended menu item. The yakitori skewers included various parts like chicken thigh, gizzard, heart, skin, and beef tendon. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the skewers at such a low price. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. I didn't order more that day, but I could easily see myself coming back for more, maybe even devouring 20 skewers in one go. At just 50 yen per skewer, it's a great deal. This shop also has a branch in Rokumonmatsu, so I'll definitely consider it for a cheap night out with friends in Nishijin or Rokumonmatsu. I prefer these kind of down-to-earth, student-friendly places over upscale restaurants.

This is a shop I often go to, where the all-you-can-drink option is only 1500 yen, making it very cost-effective! On this day, I felt like having drinks with my husband after work but couldn't decide on a place, so we quickly settled on this one. We were able to sit at the counter and it was spacious enough, so no problem at all! (*´ω`*)

Last night, I finally visited Tarafuku-san, a restaurant in Nishishin that I had always been curious about but was always full. The unbeatable pork steak was really delicious, as well as the sesame yellowtail and yakitori. The portions were generous and I left very satisfied. I forgot to take photos, but the celery ajillo was also very tasty and I definitely want to go back again. I went with another guy and the staff were very polite and the food came out quickly, so I was very happy. However, I felt that the alcohol overall was a bit strong.

I went on a business trip to Fukuoka and searched for a yakitori restaurant in Nishijin. It was a weekday, but we made a reservation since there were many of us. The seating area was a bit small but the sunken kotatsu style was nice. I didn't manage to take photos of the food we ordered, but the yakitori and pork belly were cheap, with chicken skin costing only 50 yen per skewer. They didn't have sesame mackerel, but I tried the sesame sea bream and sesame amberjack, which were delicious. I started with a draft beer and then switched to highballs, which were a bit weak. I regretted not opting for the all-you-can-drink option when we paid the bill.

It had been a long time since I visited the original Tara Fuku store, where I used to drink with classmates while watching Fukuoka University students rolling around outside during the spring enrollment season. The atmosphere was familiar and comforting. We sat down and noticed that there were many yakitori options on the menu, which was perfect for both our business partners and me, as we both loved chicken. A friendly server came to take our orders, and we started off with a toast of highball. The menu had expanded since my last visit, and we decided to try the recommended "Half-Boiled Egg Skewer" and the "Soft Pig's Feet." The dishes arrived quickly, and the presentation of the Half-Boiled Egg Skewer was impressive. The soft-boiled egg with a sweet seasoning was a delight to eat. The Soft Pig's Feet were also delicious and tender, making us order the Spicy Fried Soft Pig's Feet as well. We couldn't stop eating the crispy and flavorful Chicken Skin. As we enjoyed our meal, we ordered some Chicken Liver and Jeju Island Mackerel (salt-grilled) to complement our drinks. The Chicken Liver was cooked perfectly, and the salt-grilled mackerel brought back nostalgic flavors from my childhood. It had been a while since I had eaten salt-grilled mackerel for breakfast, a dish my mother used to make for me. Overall, I was impressed by the variety of dishes and the quality of food at Tara Fuku. It had been a while since I last visited, and I was glad to see that they were still thriving. After finishing our meal, we decided to head to a bar in the neon-lit streets of Nishijin, reminiscing about old times and enjoying the vibrant nightlife.

Revisit - 2012.10.10 - Suddenly decided to have a drink in Nishijin. Looking for delicious 50 yen skewers... Goma mackerel - unfortunately, it seems to have a sesame dressing on it. I prefer it with more finely ground sesame. The appetizers were cheese tofu and boiled vegetables. Skewers included (clockwise) skin, pork belly, beef suji, garlic chicken skin, yotsumi, and shishamo. Chicken hearts were available separately. Despite everything, the 50 yen skin skewers were the best! Not too fatty, just right! One bite dumplings. They stick together when grilled, so it's a bit disappointing when the skin peels off while eating. Also had smashed cucumbers and plum jellyfish. Ended up drinking three glasses of alcohol despite not planning to... But still managed to stay within the budget of around 3000 yen per person. Even though it was a Wednesday, the place was full, as always, at Tarafuku. Thank you for the meal! Strolled around Nishijin looking for a place for dinner and stumbled upon this place. It was a weekday, but the restaurant was full. I killed time at the convenience store next door and then returned. We were seated at a sunken kotatsu table and toasted with beer. We ordered 10 sand liver skewers and various other skewers. The skewers here are small but satisfying at 50 yen each. It's always busy here, especially being close to the station. I recommend making a reservation if you plan to go.
