Recently, I got some delicious restaurant recommendations from a person named H, so I decided to visit the restaurant with a junior colleague from work. The restaurant is located right in between Shinsaibashi and Namba on the Midosuji Line. It's easy to find as you head north on Midosuji from Namba, then turn west on the second street past Dotonbori. The restaurant has a few tables for four people, creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for groups. Each table has good ventilation for the charcoal grills, so the smell and smoke are not too bothersome. The restroom is also separated for men and women, which is a nice touch for female guests in a predominantly male-oriented yakiniku restaurant.
We ordered a variety of dishes recommended by the owner, as the menu had so many options it was hard to choose. We had a kimchi assortment, simmered hormone, tongue, sirloin, belly, skirt meat, heart (salted), honeycomb tripe, and oxtail soup. Along with some beer and highballs, the total came to just over 4000 yen for one person. The portions were small, around four pieces each, and priced at around 600 yen, making it easy for women to enjoy a variety of dishes without feeling overwhelmed. The meat had a nice thickness and a sweetness unique to black wagyu beef, making each dish delicious. The sirloin was surprisingly easy to eat, with a juicy and tender texture. The tripe, while visually unappealing, had a crunchy and bouncy texture reminiscent of abalone, which was enjoyable. The egg-filled oxtail soup was comforting and tasty.
Although there are many yakiniku restaurants offering photogenic meats like "Tamaki" in Nakazakicho, this simple yet diverse style of enjoying various dishes was lovely. However, one downside was that since you cook the meat on charcoal grills, you have to constantly watch it to ensure it doesn't burn. Additionally, I felt that a greater variety of condiments like wasabi or yuzu pepper would enhance the dining experience.
Overall, I believe this area around Nishi-Shinsaibashi is a competitive battleground for meat lovers, similar to Nakazakicho. Whether dining with a large group, enjoying a meal with a friend, or savoring the meat alone, this restaurant offers a variety of dining styles. Thank you for the delicious meal!
