First visit to a long-established sushi restaurant in Shin Umeda Food Street with about 8 counter seats. I had passed by this restaurant many times before but felt a bit hesitant to enter alone. However, this time I made a reservation over the phone and went with a friend. We started with maguro, kanpachi, and vinegar dish, followed by an assorted sashimi platter, grilled eel, toro tekka, toro taku hosomaki, and a set of nigiri sushi to share. We also enjoyed 5 different types of sake, including the Ship of Eight Sake Tasting Set (no photo). I had heard good things about this place, and it did not disappoint. The appetizers, sushi, and sake were all reasonably priced, and I realized that having sushi at a counter in Osaka is definitely worth it. The total bill for two came to 20,020 yen.

There were 2 sushi chefs, 1 female staff in the kitchen, and 1 staff in the dining area. The atmosphere was not very calm, more like a quick sushi stop before getting back to work, not standing but a fast-paced place. I ordered the 11-piece assorted sushi set for 1,000 yen with red miso soup. The tamago was normal, squid was a bit sweet with a strong vinegar taste, the delicious roll was sweet with items like cherry blossom denbu, tamago, shiitake, cucumber. It was tasty but the seaweed was a bit hard to chew. The shrimp was normally delicious, the turban shell had a nice crunchy texture without any strong flavor, the conger eel was normal, the horse mackerel was delicious, and the salmon was delicious and the highlight of the day. The red miso soup was a bit small in portion, but overall, I was satisfied with the 1,000 yen lunch. It's 100 yen more than the daily special, but the portion seems to be quite different. This is a sushi restaurant located on a shortcut from Umeda to Osaka Station. The location is great! It's quite a long-standing establishment. I had lunch for around 1500 yen. The daily special was sold out, so this was the cheapest option. The air conditioning has been working for 50 years and apparently there are leaks. Half a century... impressive!

Their limited lunch set of sushi looks delicious. The toppings include conger eel, shrimp, squid, white fish, squid with flying fish roe, tuna, thick roll, egg, and hand-rolled pickled radish. It also comes with red miso soup with wheat gluten and seaweed for 880 yen. The soy sauce is a slightly sweet dark soy sauce. The sushi rice is seasoned with sugar for a flavorful white rice. Next to McDonald's in the Shin-Umeda Food Court, there is a restaurant called "Umeda Yoshino Sushi". This is a place that MyRebi-sama used to visit. I was curious about it but hesitated to go in. Tonight, I can go home early and I feel like having some sushi! (Although my family might get mad at me for wanting to go home early) At 5:00 PM, there were 3 customers at the counter. The table seats had other women sitting there. One was also a woman, and the other was a young man. I had no choice but to sit in the middle. They quickly brought me a basket for my belongings. I ordered a draft beer and started with three pieces of sushi. The sea bream with green onions was amazing! The salt sprinkled on top made it even better. As recommended by MyRebi-sama, it was truly delicious. The yellowtail was thickly sliced and flavorful. I also had my favorite salmon. Of course, I had to have some tuna. Although they didn't have medium fatty tuna, the fatty tuna was so melty. And because I love tamago, I had the egg sushi too. The rice was barely noticeable, but the sweet egg was delightful. It was cut into two pieces for 150 yen, which was a great deal. The cold egg had a strong dashi flavor and was delicious. I took a quick photo when the place was momentarily empty.

I visited Yoshino-san after about a year, and the words "Long time no see" instantly comforted me. My first order was the usual assortment of flatfish, bluefin tuna, octopus, and shrimp. I wanted to have shrimp and mantis shrimp as well, but they were sold out... However, Yoshino-san always makes everything taste incredibly delicious regardless of what you order. Even my favorite beer tasted like a hindrance compared to the food here! I added an order of conger eel and swordtip squid, both of which were delicious as they were. The swordtip squid was tender and the conger eel was good, although nothing out of the ordinary. For the finale, I ordered Japanese cockle, which was so good that it felt like a waste to swallow it!! Ah, the stress melted away, but the food was so delicious that it made me tired. As a smoker, I switched to a restaurant where I could smoke, but I will definitely come back here again. It was truly, truly delicious.

The sushi was freshly made after ordering. The set included tuna, squid, amberjack, octopus, conger eel, sea bream, salmon roe, and shrimp, all with generous portions of toppings. The slightly sweet sushi rice was smooth and delicious. The salmon roe was slightly larger than usual but rich in flavor, while the sea bream and amberjack were incredibly fresh and tasty. The shrimp had a good balance of volume and texture. Overall, it was a crowd-pleasing sushi that would make a great souvenir for family too.

I also ordered a hot sake for 385 yen and added more sushi - swordtip squid, red shrimp, fatty tuna, whelk, and squid. The swordtip squid was a masterpiece, it looked like nothing from afar but had an amazing texture. The price difference between swordtip squid and regular squid was only 50 yen, but the quality was much higher. There were a lot of regular customers at the restaurant, both old men and old women.

The flavors did not disappoint, and I was once again impressed. I also had some hot sake and ordered crab miso battleship sushi and octopus. I'm not a fan of octopus, but I trusted Yoshino to make it delicious, and they did not disappoint. The octopus had a great texture and flavor. I was blown away by how tasty it was.
