It's been a while since I had lunch at the Tokyo branch. I hadn't decided, but oh, the Chinese restaurant here has changed again. I was thinking of my favorite Chinese rice bowl, but they were promoting hand-pulled noodles with a big sign.
- Five Ingredient Hand-Pulled Noodles 950 yen
The large bowl was a good first impression. And just by looking at it, I felt like I made the right choice. It's packed with ingredients as expected, and the soup is delicious, similar to what I like. It's worth a try. Shrimp, Chinese cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, other mushrooms, pork belly, oh, it's a five-ingredient dish. I thought it wouldn't go down for a while as I was eating. And the hand-pulled noodles. The edges and thickness give a chewy texture. It's similar to sukiyaki or houtou noodles. It's filling because of this chewy texture, so I, who usually adds rice, didn't need it. My appetite was completely satisfied. Next time, I want to try the regular lunch menu like fried rice or Chinese rice bowl.

We opened at the intersection of Yasukuni Street and Seisubashi Street in Higashi-Kanda. The area of Higashi-Kanda is not very familiar to me, but our restaurant is located across from the Ryukakusan Building. We offer 18 types of set meals and noodle dishes, with knife-cut noodles being our specialty. I decided to try the knife-cut noodles for the first time in a while. When I entered the restaurant, I saw tables for 4 people on both sides. I was seated at a vacant table and ordered the Ma La knife-cut noodles (950 yen). They brought me a paper apron to wear. The Ma La knife-cut noodles came with plenty of bean sprouts and a topping of pea shoots on a mound of meat miso, generously sprinkled with sesame seeds. The soup was red in color, but I was unsure about the spiciness. When I tried the meat miso dissolved in the soup, I was surprised by its sweetness! The soup itself was not sweet, but the meat miso I mixed in was. The knife-cut noodles were soft, which made them absorb the soup quickly and become mushy towards the end, making it difficult to eat. The pickled vegetables were average, and the salad had a mild flavor. The almond jelly was okay. The mushy noodles expanded in my stomach, leaving me feeling very full. However, considering the location, I felt that the price of 950 yen was a bit high. Since the restaurant just opened, I hope they will continue to improve. Thank you for the meal.

Fukuraku, an authentic Szechuan cuisine restaurant, has opened at the corner of the intersection of Jinggu Street and Seishuhashi Street in Higashi-Kanda. Previously, it was a dumpling and sake bar called Hanasan, and before that, it was Keitaro Sake Bar. This is a sister restaurant of Fukuraku, a Szechuan cuisine restaurant along the International Street in Asakusa. When passing by, I noticed congratulatory flowers in front of the shop. They do not have a set menu for tired customers. Inside, there are several 4-person booths lining both sides of the central aisle. There are about 10 tables in total. The restaurant is run by a manager and a female staff member. There were about three groups of customers, all of whom seemed to be fans of Chinese cuisine. I started with a draft beer (495 yen), served in a slim Kirin Ichiban glass. Peanuts were served as a complimentary appetizer. I also tried the pork, mushroom, and egg stir-fry (550 yen). It contained pork, mushrooms, crunchy greens, and carrots, all cooked perfectly. The dish had a nice thick sauce and great seasoning. For drinks, I opted for a Hoppy set (470 yen), which included two refills of Nakao (220 yen). I also ordered some pan-fried dumplings (450 yen). The dumplings were bite-sized, with a crispy exterior and a thin skin. They had a nice garlic aroma and were simply delicious. Overall, this restaurant offers complimentary appetizers, reasonably priced menu items with tax included, and an authentic Chinese dining experience.
