A relaxed shop fitting its name perfectly. Located on the way from Lespoir Kyuyama to Kyuyama Ryoiku-en. When you enter the shop, you are greeted by a slightly elderly woman. "Today, I can only make curry and yakisoba, is that okay?" Since I wanted a light meal, I decided to enter. The interior of the shop gives off a Showa era vibe with a counter, a raised seating area, tables, and even a siphon. After the meal, I learned through conversation that the owner has been running a coffee shop in Kyuyama for over 40 years, with the siphon and counter seats being the same ones from back then. Originally, she used to work at a morning coffee shop in a distribution center, and when that shop closed due to changes in the flow of people, she brought over the chairs from there. The elderly customers reminisce about the old chairs, saying "Oh, these kinds of chairs are nostalgic." Going back to the menu, they offer curry, egg curry, and yakisoba, each coming with a salad for about 700 yen. This time, I chose the egg curry for 650 yen. "Sorry, it will take a bit of time," she said as she gave me a banana. How thoughtful! I expressed my gratitude, and she thanked me in return. The egg curry came with various side dishes, like miso soup with plenty of clams, boiled bamboo shoots, and steamed sweet potatoes. Simple but delightful side dishes like these make you happy. The curry had a typical taste, but the perfectly cooked bamboo shoots and easy-to-eat sweet potatoes stood out. The coffee, whether hot or iced, is made with a siphon. The owner values siphon coffee greatly. The shop's name comes from the fact that this area used to be a rural area in the past. Now, Kyuyama Town is relatively lined with houses. The chatty owner shared many things with me, even some important ones.
