After soaking in the hot springs in Tomamae-cho along the coast, we drove for over an hour to Shihoro City to eat Genghis Khan. When it comes to eating meat in Hokkaido, Shihoro Genghis Khan is the best choice! Hokkaido's Genghis Khan is divided into seasoned varieties in Sapporo and northward, and raw lamb is the main dish from Sapporo to the south. Matsuo, Naganuma, and Sato's Genghis Khan are particularly famous. Recently, you can eat raw lamb Genghis Khan almost anywhere, but here in northern Hokkaido, it's mostly seasoned. While it's nice to enjoy Genghis Khan in an elegant restaurant, personally, I think the real charm of Genghis Khan is being able to barbecue and cook it yourself outside with friends. This barbecue house allows you to do just that, and since most customers head to the neighboring "Shepherd's House," it's relatively empty. Even in winter, it's not too cold inside, allowing you to enjoy Genghis Khan. This has become my favorite spot now. Every year, I come to Shihoro City to eat Genghis Khan here. The meat is Suffolk, marinated in a unique sweet sauce that tastes like various fruits and vegetables. This sauce is a bit different from other seasoned Genghis Khan sauces. It's like Shihoro's original. If you're bothered by the visible tendons in the meat, go to the neighboring "Shepherd's House." The meat portion is quite generous even for one person. The vegetable platter is essential for iron plate Genghis Khan, with bean sprouts, onions, and bell peppers cut into strips of the same thickness as the bean sprouts, making it easy for the sauce to soak in. Once the iron plate is heated, start by arranging the vegetables in a donut shape... then place the meat in the center and pour all the sauce over the vegetables. Hokkaido's Genghis Khan is best enjoyed this way! The vegetables soaked in the sauce, along with the meat, are a delight to savor! The meat is tender thanks to the sauce, and the flavor of this sauce is incredibly delicious! I prefer it over Matsujin and Naganuma! Rice is a must for seasoned Genghis Khan. A serving of rice comes in a bowl piled high! And all for just 200 yen, what a great deal! It was so delicious, and we had our fill of meat and vegetables, adding more as we went along. We left feeling full and completely satisfied! Can't wait to come back! Thank you for the delicious meal!
