Shin-Sapporo Station. I have recently come to like it and often go shopping there. I enjoy the atmosphere of the underground shopping area, similar to a department store basement. I usually buy deli foods in the underground area, but this time I was lured by the Strawberry Fair and decided to try Kurashiki Coffee Shop on the 1st floor. It seems like there are too many cafes in the complex facilities of Shin-Sapporo. There's UCC, Misuzu, Miyakoshiya, Kahi Sakan, and more. Each of them seems to have their own customers and is bustling. Surprisingly, I found out that Kurashiki Coffee Shop is actually part of the Sanmark group! I didn't know this until I wrote this review. And although this is unrelated to Tabelog, I found out that Sanmark Holdings is listed on the stock market. Shareholders receive a card that gives them a 20% discount at Sanmark Cafe and Kurashiki Coffee Shop, which piqued my interest a bit. I am not a shareholder of Sanmark Holdings, I just used it as a regular customer! The items my companion ordered. ☆ Today's Coffee 410 yen (tax included) is cheap. Plus, they use a siphon method which gives you the equivalent of 1.5 cups of coffee. On this day, they had Guatemala coffee (normally 460 yen). If there was a 20% discount card for shareholders, it would be 328 yen. That's a great deal. However, since I'm not a shareholder, I can't take advantage of it... ☆ Limited-time Strawberry Tart 690 yen. I tried a bite, and it seemed quite pricey. The plate was chilled, which was nice, but the tart crust and the warm filling inside felt mismatched. It didn't quite hit the mark as a dessert. Also, the lack of a dessert and coffee set discount was disappointing. The price of the Dolce items seemed high, but the food items were not as expensive, like the curry for 680 yen or beef stew for 980 yen. Shareholders can enjoy the beef stew for 784 yen with the discount, which is enviable. I don't know how it tastes, though. Moreover, they have a lunch menu available from 11:00 to 14:00, where you can get a curry lunch for 890 yen with a drink and salad, which is not bad. There are also several set menu options that come with a drink. The Morning menu starts from 440 yen. The toast (half size) with a drink and boiled egg set is a good deal and makes you want to use it if it's nearby. The pricing is attractive. What I ordered this time was ◎ Spring Coffee and Food Pairing 690 yen. It was a Peruvian Red Condor coffee with a slight acidity and citrusy flavor... The acidity was quite strong, giving it a slightly overcooked impression. There was also a bit of bitterness. Honestly, it wasn't my preferred type of coffee. The beans themselves were like that, and it was brewed using a siphon method, so I can't complain. The menu described it as having a gentle citrusy acidity, but I didn't feel the gentleness or the citrusy notes, just the acidity lingering in my mouth. Perhaps it's because it was brewed using the siphon method, it wasn't watery but rather rich and solid coffee. The chocolate and nuts that came with the set paired well with it, but I felt that two pieces of chocolate were a bit lacking. I wanted a few more pieces of chocolate, even if it was for an additional 100 yen. It's commendable that a chain store like this emphasizes quality beans and the siphon brewing method. It made me realize once again how precious it is to have a cafe that carefully drips coffee like the old-fashioned coffee shops. Coffee is truly deep.
