I tried crispy grilled eel for the first time in Kansai and it was incredibly delicious! I used to think that steamed eel in Kanto was the best, but this was a whole different experience. People often talk about Kanto and Kansai styles, but I think even people from Kanto should try this dish.

I made a reservation to revisit a restaurant that had great performance, good prices, and delicious food last time. It was a shop recommended by a eel enthusiast even in the world that Ma-tsuko does not know. They even showed me the eel being prepared right now. They also showed me the grilling area.
- Special selected eel rice bowl 5480 yen (excluding tax)
- Two eel rice bowls to compare 4480 yen each (excluding tax)
I wanted to compare the two types of eel rice bowls, so I ordered two. The volume was the same, but there was a price difference based on the quality of the eel. The eel in the rice bowl from the "bed" side was also very delicious. It may be a common expression, but the eel was grilled with its own fat, making the skin crispy. The flesh was fluffy and tender, with just the right amount of fat and moisture. The special selected eel was even more meaty and the fat was sweeter. The eel liver was also a nice touch.
- Grilled eel over rice bowl with toppings 4480 yen (excluding tax)
You can enjoy it multiple times by adding grated yam, condiments, and broth. I just love this place and want to visit it frequently.

Charcoal-grilled eel at Nedoko, Osaka Fukushima: Ordered an eel lunch at Nedoko in Fukushima and they grilled it right in front of me. The chef skillfully prepared and grilled carefully selected domestic eel (confirm in advance). Absolutely no exaggeration, it was a truly impressive experience after a long time. The eel bowl created by the chef and hostess was just amazing. This time, the activity-packed hitsumabushi cost 6028 yen including tax, and to be honest, it was worth more than 100%. Sometimes, try a serious Kansai-style eel and it was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the feast. Charcoal-grilled eel Nedoko Fukushima branch.

This is my favorite eel restaurant I have been to so far. I love the crispy eel! I ordered the special eel rice bowl, half and half grilled eel (with sauce and without sauce), and eel skewers, and they were all amazing. The crispy eel paired with beer was also perfect!

Just a short walk from Shin-Fukushima Station, there is a must-visit restaurant for eel lovers. And for those who say "eel is better Kansai style," this place is highly recommended. The restaurant is located in a renovated traditional Japanese house with a unique atmosphere. When you open the door, you'll find only stairs leading up to the second floor where a retro-style space with a counter and tables awaits. In the water tank, you can see live eels squirming around. The specialty here is that you can enjoy freshly prepared live eel, and if you sit at the counter, you can even watch it being prepared. I had made a reservation in advance for the "Limited to 5 servings! Sold out" live eel special eel rice bowl and the special eel rice bowl with grilled eel. I chose the live eel special eel rice bowl. A whole live eel was used to make this special eel rice bowl. As soon as I sat at the counter, the huge eels for the day arrived, lively and squirming. They were skillfully prepared by the owner, skewered, and cooked on the grill. The aroma and sound were already delicious. After about 15 minutes of waiting, it was ready. The live eel special eel rice bowl was visually stunning with thick slices of eel. I took a bite and it was incredibly delicious. The crispy texture and aroma of the skin, the rich flavor of the meat, it was so delicious that I couldn't help but cry. I felt so lucky to be able to eat such delicious eel rice bowl in Osaka. The overflowing eel roll was filled with eel and the broth was gentle and soothing. I was completely satisfied. The delicious food, great atmosphere, and excellent service made for a wonderful lunchtime experience. July 30th, the midsummer day of the ox, is definitely set at this place. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

It was delicious! The skin was crispy, the meat was tender, and the sauce was sweet and savory. And the fact that you can get an eel rice bowl for under 5000 yen is amazing! I had some extra money left over, so I ordered an extra bowl of eel. The eel was incredibly delicious and the sweet sauce was perfect. I wanted to eat more, so I ordered another bowl. I also ordered a beer, making it a nice lunchtime drink.

I stopped by while I was in the area for errands. I had eaten breakfast early, so I wasn't very hungry. I ordered the eel rice bowl with less rice. The eel was plentiful and grilled to perfection, with a crispy skin and a delicious aroma. It paired perfectly with the sansho pepper. It was very delicious.

Today, I visited the eel specialty restaurant "Sumibiyaki Unagi Neboko" in Fukushima. We enjoyed a full course eel meal starting with eel liver sashimi for ¥10,000 per person. The eel rice bowl at the end was amazing. I definitely want to go back again.

The eel restaurant in Fukushima introduced on the show "Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai" was amazing. We ordered the fresh live eel and it was beautiful. We visited with three people and were recommended the following dishes:
- Smoked eel for 1980 yen: Goes well with alcohol, the eel has just the right amount of fat and a delicious smoky flavor.
- Overflowing eel roll for 2178 yen: A sophisticated dish with eel wrapped in egg and coated in sauce. Delicious.
- Special eel bowl for 6028 yen: The eel was grilled without steaming after ordering, resulting in a crispy surface and incredibly tasty fat between the meat and skin. The eel was thick and truly top-notch. I will definitely bring my parents here next time.

I visited the main store in Shinsaibashi about 3 years ago, and since then, I have been disappointed by the lack of fatty eel. However, the taste was still impressive. I heard that a new store opened in Fukushima, so I decided to check it out. As I walked past the long line of people waiting at the oden shop, I noticed that there were many good eateries in the area and lots of young people around. I sat at the counter, surrounded by the thick smoke and the delightful smell of eel. I ordered a platter of 5 skewers and enjoyed them with eel, which was an ideal combination. To finish off, I had a half-and-half portion of white-grilled and soy-grilled premium eel, although it was not freshly prepared. The eel wasn't as thick as I had hoped, and I realized that it might have been better to leave the dream of a perfect eel experience untouched.

The Heart of Osaka, Fukushima Store, was featured on the November 8th episode of "Matsuko's Unfamiliar World," so I decided to visit the store! I sat at the counter seat and watched as domestic eel was grilled over charcoal right in front of me♪ The eel skewers are different from eel rice dishes like unaju, as you can enjoy them slowly while sipping on alcohol (*^^*). I was quite satisfied with the 5 kinds of skewers, eel slices, and grilled eel that I ordered (૭ ᐕ)૭ Now, I'm looking forward to visiting the main store in Shinsaibashi for a comparison♡ Personally, the eel belly was the best❀(*´▽`*)❀ We enjoy gourmet food with the concept of "eating to lose weight"٩(`・ω・´)و I would be happy if you could also check out my Instagram account: ID @kanae.0402. Thank you m(*_ _)m

We visited without a reservation but managed to get a table. It seems like we arrived at a good time because after us, reservation guests started coming in one after another! We were able to order the special live-grilled eel (6028 yen). This was also good timing. Before filleting the eel, we were shown the impressive Kiso River eel. It was my first time having freshly filleted eel, so I was excited by this performance. My partner was also very excited! We waited eagerly for the dish to be served, savoring the luxurious moment. The eagerly awaited freshly grilled eel was presented. First, the appearance. Indeed, it was much larger than a regular eel bowl. A large eel grilled whole. And the dish was not a typical eel box but a ceramic plate. The size of the plate may make it hard to notice, but if it were in a box, you would see the volume protected by the raft. Live-grilled and freshly grilled at this volume and price point, I think this is a great deal. Additionally, the appearance of the eel is unique. Normally, the eel is covered in sauce, but this one has absorbed the sauce, giving it a dry appearance. The lack of shine on the eel is actually what creates the magic! I was amazed with the first bite. The fragrant aroma of the crispy eel from the mouth to the nose. The crispy texture of the meat and skin, followed by the sauce and eel's deliciousness spreading in the mouth. The sauce is not too sweet or too spicy, and since the eel has fully absorbed the sauce, the flavor of the sauce and the eel's meat spread in the mouth. Sprinkling with sansho pepper adds a refreshing aroma that doesn't linger in the mouth! I wanted something refreshing to eat, so I couldn't help but exclaim "this is the best!" This is the true delight of live-grilled eel, the essence of Kansai style. My partner ordered the same dish and couldn't finish it due to the size, so I tried it later and it had changed into something completely different as time passed. It was a learning experience, truly savoring the luxurious eel where freshness is key, and I left the restaurant feeling grateful for this encounter. The grill master, the staff, everyone was friendly, and this has become a restaurant I want to visit again. Thank you!

Everything is delicious. The 5 kinds of grilled liver and gizzard platter is so tasty. The liver is especially good. The grilled white fish and eel with sweet soy sauce and rice are all so delicious. I was impressed by how good everything tasted. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely come back here if I ever get tired of eel. Thank you for the meal.

The eel was delicious with a rich flavor. The eel bowl had just the right amount of sauce, allowing you to fully enjoy the taste of the eel. It was a crispy eel dish in the Kansai style. The skewers offered a variety of flavors and were satisfying. The eel roll was more like a rolled omelet, which was also delicious.

Visited this restaurant for the first time with a friend on a holiday evening. Got a last-minute invitation to go for drinks and gladly accepted! Checked out some places of interest but most were closed on Sundays, so we ended up finding this place through a last-minute online reservation. It's a charcoal-grilled eel restaurant near JR Tozai Line's Shin-Fukushima Station, located on the second floor of a renovated old house. You need to climb stairs to get in, but the atmosphere inside is nice. While course orders need to be made in advance, we were able to make a same-day online reservation for our seats. We had two servings of eel liver soup, overflowing eel rolls for 2178 yen, five types of grilled eel skewers for 3828 yen each, smoked eel for 1980 yen, pickled eel for 1760 yen, and two skewers of eel liver for 803 yen each. The five types of grilled eel skewers included belly, tail, strips, leek rolls, and burdock rolls. Although they may look small in the photos, each skewer had a satisfying portion. We tried to order "tsukune" as an additional item but it was sold out. The prices were quite high, possibly due to the quality of eel used or the effort put into preparing them. However, the lack of variety made us feel a bit bored towards the end and left us feeling a bit unsatisfied. It might be more worthwhile to opt for a Japanese course meal that includes a variety of dishes. We had a few glasses of Asahi Super Dry draft beer for 638 yen each and finished with a watered-down Three Peaks whiskey for 700 yen. The beer was also on the pricier side. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Next time, we might come for lunch and try the grilled eel on rice.

The winter menu at the creative eel restaurant featuring "hot pot" is excellent. I saw a famous hot pot on TV called "pufferfish and eel golden pot" and when I visited another day, I requested a different hot pot since they were serving it continuously. They then served me "yellowtail shabu-shabu". I was told it would be available until the end of March, so I went to have my last taste. The winter eel, with its fatty richness before hibernation, was truly amazing. The punch of the special selected grilled eel that the manager served was incredible! It was really delicious. I couldn't post a clear photo of the grilled eel because it was blurry, but that couldn't be helped... The sake they offer is also delicious. I got really drunk. The delicious eel and the delicious sake made for a very pleasant memory. Thank you for the meal, thank you.

I have been worried about what would happen after the fire at the high-end restaurant in the area near Shimo-Fukushima Shrine. It seemed like the insurance company was not cooperative, but fortunately, the restaurant was able to reopen without being demolished and rebuilt. There are a few high-end restaurants in the area, but it is rare to find one that serves lunch. I was happy to discover Sapporo Akahoshi, where you can enjoy a delicious eel dish with a crispy skin and a tender interior. The only downside is the stairs. Enjoy a sophisticated lunchtime experience at this restaurant!

I saw eel skewers on the menu and decided to drop in. The seating is limited, so it might be better to make a reservation. The restaurant is in a renovated old house, not very spacious but has a relaxed atmosphere with mainly table seating. I had the specialty eel skewer assortment and egg over rice. It was nice to have a variety of eel dishes to enjoy. The pickled liver appetizer was also delicious without any unpleasant taste. Thank you for the meal!

A great place for a casual drink! Even though alcohol cannot be consumed due to the current state of emergency, you can enjoy a light meal at home. I ordered skewers, chicken liver with ponzu sauce, and smoked dishes. Each dish has its own unique flavor and goes well with drinks. When alcohol is allowed again, I think this course would be perfect for a bar-hopping night!
