When it comes to Sukiya, it is a famous chain restaurant known for its beef bowls, alongside Yoshinoya and Matsuya. The abundance of toppings is often talked about as a highlight, but the variety of portion sizes, such as the extra-large and mega sizes, is also a notable feature. Recently, I discovered that Sukiya actually has a "Gyudon King," which boasts double the portion of a mega beef bowl, as a secret menu item. I learned about the existence of this Gyudon King from a review by Saiken8700. Although it was originally a limited-time menu item, it seems to be available as a secret menu item at most stores now. I called the customer service center to confirm this, and they indeed informed me that it is still offered. Excited by this discovery, I decided to visit the nearest Sukiya location. In Fukuoka City, most of these types of restaurants are located in the suburbs, making the Fukuoka City Hall store a valuable establishment in the city center. I avoided peak hours and visited at 11 p.m. to order the Gyudon King, which was promptly served. It arrived not in a bowl, but on a large plate resembling a curry dish, piled high. I wondered about the size of this dish. Here are the details: - Regular: Beef 85g, Rice 260g - Large: Beef 170g, Rice 320g - Mega: Beef 255g, Rice 320g - Gyudon King: Beef 510g, Rice 650g The Gyudon King contains double the amount of beef and rice compared to the Mega size. This certainly provides a satisfying meal. As I began eating, I noticed the substantial volume of beef, which tasted even juicier compared to the Large size and above. Although I usually have a big appetite, I ate at a leisurely pace and finished in 7 minutes. It was a delightful meal. When in the center of Fukuoka, if I ever crave a beef bowl, this store is my go-to choice. There used to be a Yoshinoya behind Katsushige Park, but it has since closed down. These types of restaurants are gradually relocating to the suburbs. I hope this particular store remains in the city center. I look forward to trying the King size again. Perhaps I'll even challenge myself to eat two bowls next time.
