This is my fourth time at this restaurant. Whenever I want to eat delicious udon and tempura, this is the place to go. This time, I tried the mentaiko butter udon for the first time. I also ordered chicken tempura. The udon that came out had flat noodles. I found out that the noodles vary depending on the menu, as the cold bukkake udon I had before had thick noodles. The chewy noodles were well coated with butter and mentaiko, delicious! The chicken tempura was crispy with a light batter, and despite being tempura, it was refreshing. It was delicious~! I will definitely go back again!

The udon noodles were chewy and the broth was very delicious. I ordered the set with egg over rice, which was unusual but tasty. The fresh egg over rice was amazing♡ It's great that you can help yourself to extra tempura flakes and green onions.

The shrimp and chicken tempura udon cold noodles for 990 yen is delicious! The shrimp tempura is surprisingly plump and tasty, while the chicken tempura is large and juicy breast meat, also delicious. The udon noodles have a flat, firm texture similar to thick noodles, and a chewy texture that is good. I really like it.

Today I visited a hand-made udon restaurant called "Kamayasai" to try their udon noodles. I had noticed this place before while passing by and was curious about it. The interior of the restaurant is quite small, but it has a nice atmosphere as you can see the udon being boiled right in front of you behind the counter. I ordered the Kamatama Udon (with 2 red eggs) with spring onions and pickled ginger tempura as toppings. The condiments and toppings like tempura flakes and green onions are self-service, similar to Marugame Seimen, which is great. This is a must-have at an udon restaurant. However, when I went to get some pickled ginger, it was not available. Seriously...even though I ordered Kamatama Udon... The noodles arrived shortly after I ordered. I was a bit disappointed about the missing pickled ginger, so I wasn't too excited when the noodles arrived. The tempura with spring onions and pickled ginger was served together. I had imagined they would be served separately, but this was interesting. When I looked for the "2 servings" option on the menu, I couldn't find it, so I used my chopsticks to separate the noodles and realized that one serving had already been mixed by the restaurant, and it was clumped together like scrambled eggs. This was a bit disappointing as the concept of "2 servings" didn't make sense. The udon noodles were soft and lacked the hand-made texture I was expecting. Overall, without the pickled ginger, I didn't feel satisfied with the Kamatama Udon experience...disappointing.

I love udon noodles. I went for lunch today. The kake udon had flat noodles with a good chewy texture that felt like they were hand-made, and it was delicious. The cold bukkake udon seemed to have thicker noodles with a good firmness, so I want to try it next time! Thank you for the meal!

The bubbling hot pork kimchi udon is priced at 1,050 yen, and the salmon onigiri is 210 yen, making it a total of 1,260 yen. This dish is incredibly delicious. The flavors of the vegetables, miso, and egg are rich and sweet, just like in a kimchi hot pot. The cabbage and pork are also really tasty. The egg adds a nice sweetness to the dish. It feels like eating udon at the end of a hot pot meal. The onigiri is just average, so you might be better off with plain rice.

I chose this place for my first meal of the year, but they were closed until tomorrow! So, I came back today for a second try. I ordered both the cold and hot udon with tempura because the tempura looked delicious. The broth for the hot udon was warm and comforting, with a gentle flavor from the bonito and the noodles had a nice chewiness. However, the broth for the cold udon was a bit disappointing, it seemed a bit thin and lacking in flavor. The noodles and tempura were delicious though. I'll try the bukkake udon next time! The tempura with chikuwa was absolutely delicious. The tempura with spring chrysanthemum and pickled ginger was also amazing! I will definitely be looking forward to trying it again next time. I used to be more of an udon fan, but in recent years I've been eating more soba. Maybe this year will be the year of udon for me again!

Kake Udon 440 yen Shrimp Tempura 270 yen Chicken Tempura 280 yen Tuna Mayo Onigiri 210 yen Total: 1,200 yen Hmm, delicious! The broth has a strong kombu base. The noodles are really tasty, smooth and flat, with a great texture. The chicken tempura is incredibly delicious, juicy and satisfyingly large. However, the shrimp tempura's batter is a bit too thick. The tuna mayo onigiri is a bit salty. I also tried the bubbling hot pot Chige Udon, which was incredibly delicious. The tarako mentaiko butter udon looked really good too. I will definitely come back!

I recently went for udon for the first time in about a year, as I had been eating ramen and soba a lot. I ordered kake udon with additional squid tempura and chicken tempura. The noodles were flat and had a smooth texture, which I liked. The tempura was crispy and very good, with attention to the origin and brand of the ingredients. The Kansai-style broth, made with white dashi, was flavorful but slightly salty for my taste. I was expecting a soy sauce-colored broth like the ones in Hokkaido, so it was a bit surprising. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

The interior of the not-so-spacious restaurant is clean and cozy, with a slight cafe-like atmosphere. There are 6 seats at the counter and 2 tables for 4 people. The counter in the front is welcoming for solo male diners, while the tables in the back are arranged for female customers to enjoy their meal without feeling self-conscious. In between, there is a self-serve condiment counter and dish return area, providing a clear view of the whole restaurant. The noodles are not the typical thick and chewy Sanuki style, but rather flat and easy to eat. Even someone like me who usually leaves some food behind managed to finish every last bite (although my stomach regretted it later). The bukkake (hot or cold) comes with grated daikon radish, ginger, lemon, and green onions as default toppings. The lemon adds a delightful flavor to the dish! I only recently discovered how well lemon and dashi broth go together, and I love it! The optional tempura shrimp, while freshly fried, was a bit oily, so I ended up peeling off the batter after a few bites. Apart from the tempura shrimp, I would definitely consider coming back to this restaurant.

"I ordered the 'Tanuki Tempura Half-Cooked Egg Bukkake Udon (warm)' for ¥790. Although the business hours are not listed on Tabelog, please note that there is a break from 15:00 to 17:00 for noodle making, so if you plan to visit, be aware of this. I made the mistake of coming during this time before and was disappointed, so I decided to give it another try. I arrived promptly at 5:00 PM. I entered the restaurant after a family of five. There was only one female staff member working, so it seemed quite challenging for her. Self-service for water and returning dishes was the only way to assist the staff member. She efficiently cooked while multiple timers were going off. It seemed really tough for her. The noodle cooking time is about 9 minutes. I heard that they also offer various delivery services, so I worried about how much more challenging it would be if they received orders from Uber Eats or Demae-can. Around 5:20 PM, a second staff member came to help. The female staff member seemed relieved. Shortly after, a third staff member appeared! The situation suddenly became very stable. The udon was served in about 20 minutes. The flat noodles had a good chewy texture. The broth was a bit salty but lacked a punch. Mixing grated radish and ginger made the flavor more robust. It was almost too strong. The tempura tanuki was piping hot as it was freshly fried. The half-cooked egg tempura turned into a normal half-cooked egg as I ate it, losing its crispy coating. It was delicious, so I thought it might be unnecessary to fry it. The conversations between the staff members in the kitchen were full of mutual praise and support, showing their kindness. When I finished eating and was clearing the dishes, I realized that the bukkake udon was supposed to have lemon in it. I asked the staff if they forgot to put it in, and they admitted that they had forgotten. With all the hustle and bustle, it's understandable to make mistakes. It's not a problem at all. I didn't reflect this mistake in my evaluation. They even gave me a discount on the bill, which made me feel bad. Next time, I'll try the 'Tarako Butter Udon' that caught my eye."

I went to the restaurant by electric bicycle from my home in November 2022. It was a bit farther than I thought, haha. I looked for a ticket machine inside but couldn't find one, so I ordered verbally after looking at the menu. I intended to order warm udon but ended up ordering "bukkake udon" which is hand-made so it takes some time to cook. I also ordered an inari sushi. I waited at the counter seat and they brought the food to me, but I had to return the tray to a designated area. Toppings like tempura flakes, green onions, and chili powder were self-service. I asked for an extra serving of tempura flakes. I dipped the udon in the broth and noticed a hint of sourness, which I later found out was from lemon in the broth. It would have been refreshing in the summer. The udon had a good chewiness and was easy to eat. The inari sushi wasn't too salty and the rice had a nice vinegar flavor. I would like to eat here again. The restaurant had a mix of customers coming in and out. I imagine the nabeyaki udon would take some time to prepare. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. I'll probably try the warm udon next time!

Egg over rice and kake udon have increased to 680 yen. It can't be helped. The kake udon was originally 290 yen and is now 440 yen, but it still seems cheap. The broth has changed from before. It used to be clear and had just the right amount of flavor, with a stronger taste of broth than soy sauce, but this time the soy sauce is stronger. The broth also seems weaker. Where did the broth go...? Comparing it to the previous photo, it looks like a different restaurant? The color is completely different. Looking at it again, it's like a different dish. I prefer the previous one. The noodles were also thinner than before. Since I was hungry, I had egg over rice. The rice was a bit mediocre. Maybe it had been sitting for a while. Still, for this price in this area, it's okay.

I felt like eating udon for dinner and visited this udon restaurant. It's rare to find a udon restaurant open at night, but I found this one and decided to go at 7:00 PM. When I arrived, the small parking lot next to the restaurant was full. The restaurant was also crowded, but luckily, as the customers before me were leaving, the place suddenly became empty. I was seated at a table and ordered the cold noodles with shrimp tempura and chicken tempura. I waited for 30 minutes before my food arrived. The noodles were thick and chewy, somewhere between udon and thick noodles. The tempura was tasty, but towards the end, I found it a bit too salty. Overall, it was a good meal.

On my commute, I noticed a sign with "udon" written prominently, so I decided to go there for dinner. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of Maruyama, making it a bit difficult to access and park. Inside, there are a few small tables and counter seats, creating a cozy atmosphere. The udon menu consists of basic options like kake udon for 390 yen and bukkake udon for 490 yen, with additional toppings increasing the price to around 700-800 yen. I ordered the cold bukkake udon with chikuwa, half-boiled egg, and tempura. The broth was quite generous, with a refreshing taste thanks to the lemon and daikon radish. The udon noodles were flat and chewy, which I enjoyed. The toppings of tempura and half-boiled egg added a nice touch, making the dish delicious. My boyfriend ordered the warm bukkake udon with shrimp tempura and chicken tempura, which also looked satisfying. Overall, we were pleased with the meal and will definitely visit again when we crave udon. I wonder what I should try next time. Thank you for the meal.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Maruyama Station, this is a specialty store for handmade udon noodles. I visited on a weekday during the Obon holiday, right after they opened at 10:00 am. Even though I saw on Tabelog that they open at 8:00 am, when I arrived at 9:00 am, they were still preparing to open. After checking, I found out that they actually open at 10:00 am, so I went back to Maruyama Station and waited at Starbucks before returning. There were no other customers when I entered, and there was one person waiting for a takeout order. They told me to choose any seat I liked, so I sat at a table in the back since it seemed easier to take photos there. I ordered the simplest option, kake udon (390 yen). Even though it's just kake udon, you can help yourself to as much tempura flakes and green onions as you like, which adds to the value. Handmade udon noodles, with unlimited tempura flakes and green onions, all for 390 yen, it's amazing. You have to get your own water and put away your tray when you're done, though. There was only one man working there. It took about 7-8 minutes from ordering to the udon being served. The tempura flakes and green onions were served in small dishes. It might have been better if they were directly on top of the noodles, but I think they did it this way to make it easier for photos. The broth was salty with a mild dashi flavor. I didn't taste any sweetness, so they might use less mirin. The noodles were chewy and delicious, as expected from handmade udon noodles.

In July 2022, I visited a restaurant that opens early. I had been wanting to visit this place for a while. They have both table and counter seats inside. I ordered the bukkake udon with lemon, grated ginger, and green onions, topped with shrimp tempura, chrysanthemum leaves, and pickled ginger. It took about 15 minutes for the dish to be served. The udon noodles were not too thick, had a good chewiness, and were delicious. The broth was flavorful without being too sweet. The lemon provided a refreshing citrusy taste. The tempura was served hot and crispy, with the shrimp cooked just right. The chrysanthemum leaves and pickled ginger tempura were thick but still crispy inside. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was welcoming, and I felt comfortable dining there.

I passed by this place and decided to have breakfast. This is a convenient restaurant that opens at 8:00, although it's already 10:00. Both parking spaces in front of the store were empty. The inside of the restaurant is nice and cool with the air conditioning on, which is great on a hot day. I ordered something warm because I feel like I might get cold if I stay here for a long time. I had the tempura udon. The udon that was served after a while was huge, almost like a large serving. The tempura pieces were a bit big too. I just wanted something light, but the taste was pretty good. However, I prefer the strong flavor of bonito flakes like they have in Kansai. Ah, I'm full now. I'll definitely stop by here again if I pass by.

Family meal. Handmade udon at Kamayan... We usually go to Marugame, but Dad insisted on trying a different place today. Found this place on Tabelog for the first time. Self-service with unlimited green onions and tempura flakes. It was nice that the staff asked if the kids wanted ginger or not. Younger child had zaru udon, older child had kake udon, and my wife had bukkake udon with shrimp tempura and chicken tempura. I had chikuwa and half-cooked egg bukkake cold flat udon. It was quite filling. Slurping was a challenge... The kids didn't eat much! It would be nice if they had a half-size menu... I don't like leaving food, so I ate it all, even though my wife didn't like the taste... but she finished it. Stuffed... Time to go to Atsubetsuyamamoto Park. Thank you for the meal.

Located along the loop road in the Maruyama area, this udon restaurant has a few parking spaces next to the building. They open early in the morning, so I decided to stop by for breakfast. The interior has a high counter and table seating, but it's not very spacious. In addition to a la carte udon dishes, they also offer set meals with rice. I ordered the "bukkake udon (cold) for 400 yen" with a "large serving (+110 yen)". It was ready in about 7 minutes. The udon noodles are thick like Sanuki udon, but they are soft and chewy rather than having a strong firmness. Personally, I prefer udon with more firmness, but this was still delicious. The large serving provided a satisfying amount, and I left feeling full. The prices are quite reasonable, similar to chain udon restaurants, making it a great choice for udon lovers.

Located at the foot of Mount Moiwa, this restaurant catches your eye as you drive towards Maruyama. With parking space for about 3 cars, the restaurant is situated in a complex terrain, and you have to park diagonally before entering through stairs. Upon entering, you are greeted with a cheerful "welcome". The interior has a counter in front, booth seats on the left, and each table is partitioned with a wooden design. I ordered the "Shrimp and Chicken Tempura Udon" cold for 750 yen including tax. The visually appealing dish has a strong presence and seems satisfying. The noodles are smooth and slightly thick, with a chewy texture that is satisfying. The simple broth supports the dish well. The tempura, however, could use a bit more refinement in presentation. The chicken is tender and the shrimp is plump, allowing you to enjoy them with the broth or on their own. It seems like a new restaurant, and I hope they continue to do well. Thank you for the meal.
