たこやきくん
Kikuya, a famous Kanto-ni (hot pot dish) restaurant in Tamatsukuri, and just a stone's throw away, there's a yakitori and horumon (offal) skewer restaurant called Tegari. While waiting for the oden I ordered at Kanto-ni Kikuya, I took a stroll in the nearby park and came across a sign that caught my eye! It was advertising various takeout menu items, and one in particular piqued my interest - the "Agosuji Bakudan Don" (Chin Meat Bowl). What's more, it was labeled as a "specialty"! Despite just purchasing oden, I couldn't resist and decided to get it for takeout. So, I had it for lunch at home. The Agosuji (chin meat) is thinly sliced off the jaw, also known as "Agi". It has a firm meaty flavor and a unique chewy texture. When I tried the Agosuji meat on its own... even though it's thinly sliced, it has a satisfying chewy texture! It has a strong garlic flavor and is slightly salty. It's so delicious!! The meat is packed with flavor, and the more you chew, the more you can savor the meaty goodness. Once you try it, you'll definitely get addicted! On top of the meat were sprinkled green onions, under the meat was shredded cabbage, and the rice was cooked to a soft texture. Surprisingly, the rice was moist and had a hint of sweetness, complementing the meat's chewiness and the crispness of the cabbage perfectly! Squeezing lemon over it... the strong garlic flavor of the junky taste was transformed into a refreshing acidity, making the overall dish deliciously refreshing! And the junky feeling also softened somewhat. I was really surprised by this... Adding shichimi (seven spice) for a change in flavor... the balance of the Agosuji meat, garlic aroma, shichimi's spiciness, and lemon's acidity all worked well together, adding an extra punch... It was so delicious!! I realized later that I could have added mayonnaise to make it even more junky... a little regretful (*´艸`) Hooray for junk food... \(^o^)/ Until now, I've always been thinking about wanting to eat that dish from that restaurant, or trying this one, but I've realized that enjoying a leisurely bento at home is also quite nice nowadays... (#^.^#) Nowadays... my lifestyle seems to be changing a bit due to the influence of the coronavirus. While searching for store information online, I noticed a few blogs that seemed like they could be advertisements popping up here and there... ((+_+)) Oh dear... based on past experiences, I sometimes have other thoughts afterwards, so I'd rather not say anything negative about it and leave it at that. Bon appétit!
