Udon restaurant located in Fukuoka, Kushida. Recommended by a friend from Fukuoka, I went for lunch during a business trip. Feeling a bit of summer fatigue, I ordered the "Summer Daikichi Udon" cold noodles. The chewy noodles paired perfectly with the slightly sweet dipping sauce, and I devoured it all. The freshly fried tempura also had a satisfying crunch. The restaurant was lively but not too noisy, with all table seating allowing for a relaxed dining experience. A hidden gem in the udon battleground! It's a 7-minute walk from Akasaka Station, but definitely worth a visit!

About 7 years ago, when I had just transferred to Fukuoka, I visited this chain restaurant for the first time (I think it was the Hashimoto branch). At that time, I had no knowledge of Fukuoka's udon scene, and the experience didn't leave a strong impression on me. Since then, I never really felt the urge to visit this restaurant again. However, today, with the temperature rising, I was craving some bukkake-style udon, so I decided to give it another try, now that I know a bit more about Fukuoka's udon. I chose the "Summer Daikichi Udon" for 880 yen, topped with shrimp tempura and egg tempura. The interior of the restaurant is small but clean, and there were a few customers when I arrived. The turnover seemed good, and the staff was managing the orders alone behind the counter. The portion of noodles could have been a bit more generous, but the shrimp tempura was decently sized. I added some yuzu pepper for a refreshing flavor and enjoyed the udon with a good chewy texture. The shrimp tempura was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Overall, for 880 yen, with this quality of noodles and size of tempura, it's not a bad deal. My impression of the restaurant has changed a bit since my last visit.

First visit. Purchased a ticket for cold chikudama udon for 480 yen. The flavor of the seaweed, green onions, and ginger is good. Added tempura bits and extra green onions. The dipping sauce is also quite good. The egg and fish cake were freshly fried. Overall, good value for money and satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the newly opened "Komugiya Keigo Store" in Keigo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City on February 20, 2023 (Monday). This new store opened on February 17. Komugiya is known for having stores with large parking lots in the suburbs, so it was surprising to see it open without a parking lot in the city center. When I looked at the ticket machine, the basic kake udon was priced at 240 yen, which is very cheap! I also chose gobou tempura and kashiwa to go with my udon. I handed over my food ticket and waited for my order. I had to get chopsticks and shichimi (Japanese spice) here. They asked me, "Do you want green onions and tempura bits added?" and "Do you want pickles with the kashiwa?" It would have been nice if they had chopsticks and shichimi available at each table. The gobou tempura udon was 380 yen (tax included) and the kashiwa was 90 yen (tax included). The total came to 470 yen (tax included). The kashiwa onigiri (rice ball) was delicious with the savory flavor of chicken. It was nice that the kake udon came with free tanuki udon toppings. In hindsight, I didn't really need the gobou tempura. The clear soup had a strong dashi flavor, and the tempura bits melted in, enhancing the taste. The udon was a soft Hakata-style udon. It was a cheap and delicious bowl of noodles. Located at 2-11-10 Keigo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed days are unconfirmed.

It's amazing that they opened a standing udon shop in the competitive area of Koganei. Just go in with the feeling of eating standing up and you'll be fine.
