It's been a while since I had katsu curry. It cost 520 yen. I used to eat it a lot during my student days. The price has gone up quite a bit though. It came with a salad. The Thousand Island dressing was delicious. It was curry from Suzuran (a bento shop near Fukuoka University) - so nostalgic. Thank you for the meal.

At Fukuoka University for lunch (December 2019 information), I had "Tantanmen" for 340 yen. The noodles were topped with bean sprouts, spinach, and minced meat. The broth looked spicy red, but when I tried it, it was mildly spicy and easy to eat, delicious.

On November 8, 2018 (Thursday), I went to the second cafeteria at Fukuoka University in Nanakuma, Fukuoka. I came for the famous tantanmen at the second cafeteria. It has been about 8 years since I last visited. The tantanmen was priced at 340 yen and the 3 pieces of karaage were 100 yen. The tantanmen had a slight price increase of 10 yen. It had plenty of ground meat, green onions, and bean sprouts, which was pleasing. The soup had the perfect amount of saltiness and spiciness. Even though I could tell the soup was cheap, my body craved it. I have to admit, I didn't want to acknowledge it, but I couldn't resist in front of this tantanmen. I wonder if they changed the noodles; they were slightly chewy. The karaage was the worst I have ever had in my life. It was cold, the batter was cheap, and the meat was dry. I regretted ordering it. Despite the delicious tantanmen, the aftertaste was ruined by the karaage. Today, I learned the importance of the last thing you eat. Tastiness: 35/50, Cost performance: 16/20, Atmosphere: 10/20, Service: 5/10. When adding everything up, the repeat rate is 66/100. Fried chicken set meal for 520 yen. It was nostalgic with a crispy fried coating. Reminds me of school cafeteria food. Almost got caught in a long line during the open campus event. Luckily, I made it through. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant when I had a qualification exam at Fukuoka University. I was initially thinking of going to another place, but a student at the university was holding a piece of A4 paper that said "学食はこちら" (The cafeteria is here) and softly saying "学食はこちらですー" (The cafeteria is here). I decided to stop by after talking to him and finding out that it was okay for non-students to eat there. Since I arrived early, the restaurant was not crowded and there were various menu options available, starting from around 200 yen. I found the daily recommendation A set (Katsudon for 410 yen) to be convenient and delicious. The portion of rice was generous and the pork cutlet was tender. All this for 410 yen... I envied the Fukuoka University students! I understand that being a student can be tough. Personally, I felt that the prices and quality were better than the university I attended. Overall, thank you for the affordable and tasty meal!

On January 13, 2011, I visited the nostalgic Second Cafeteria in Jounan-ku, Fukuoka City to eat my favorite tantanmen. The cafeteria is open from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. I ordered the tantanmen (330 yen) and cold tofu (50 yen). The tantanmen had a rich tofu with soy sauce poured over it. Despite feeling frustrated by how cheap the tantanmen is, I can't help but love it. The soup has a lot of ground meat, which greatly influences the flavor. The finely minced meat blends well with the soup, along with plenty of green onions and bean sprouts. It's slightly spicy, and the noodles are smooth egg noodles. It's frustrating how something so cheap can taste so good. Deliciousness: 37/50, Cost performance: 16/20, Atmosphere: 10/20, Service: 5/10. Overall score: 68/100.
