The atmosphere was great. The dimly lit interior with the warm glow of the oil lamps was beautiful and created a very nice ambiance. I sipped on beer and reminisced about the good old days. The faint scent of lamp oil was also nice. It was a precious experience.

When you think of Otaru, you think of glassware, and that was my purpose for visiting this cafe. It's a magical space where you lose track of time.

There was a bit of a line at the entrance around 10:30, but it seems you pay at the register and receive your drinks there. The interior is spacious with plenty of empty seats. Even in the dark, photos come out beautifully thanks to the amazing advancements in smartphone cameras.

Kitaglass Building No. 3 Terrace - Chiffon Cake Set - Waited for about 30 minutes in line to order and pay inside, then picked up the order and found a seat. The chiffon cake, which was said to be the most popular, turned out to be just an ordinary chiffon cake. The coffee, on the other hand, may not be very delicious. The atmosphere at Kitaglass is nice and you can relax even in the noisy interior. A place that values atmosphere! There's something comforting about dimly lit places (laughs). The café had a lovely atmosphere. You pay first, choose your own seat, and clean up after yourself. The chiffon cake, coffee, and royal milk tea were all delicious. It was a quiet day, so I took some photos. I also bought some glasses for home, gifts for my parents, and a lamp for my bedroom at the neighboring store on the way back. It was a memorable experience. It seems like you can buy the glasses used here at the neighboring store too.

I thought that soft serve ice cream would be perfect to eat in the cold winter because it doesn't melt easily. So, I finally went to try it out. However, it seemed like I was the only one who thought that way because there were no other customers at the soft serve ice cream stand or in the dining area next to it. I bought an 8-tier soft serve ice cream cone for 780 yen. There was also a 12-tier soft serve ice cream option for 1300 yen, but I thought that was a bit too expensive for soft serve ice cream, so I decided to pass on it this time. The soft serve ice cream had various flavors and was delicious, but towards the end, I started to get a little tired of it, so the 12-tier option might have been too much after all. Oh, and by the way, the ice cream hardly melted until the end, just as I expected. There are other shops that sell jumbo-sized soft serve ice cream, but I prefer the taste of this shop over others. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I ordered Earl Grey chiffon cake. It was not too sweet and had a delicious tea flavor. The atmosphere was amazing, even better than the taste of the cake! I was completely captivated by the ambiance. I highly recommend going with someone you like. I went alone, but still had a great time, haha. The space reminded me a bit of Harry Potter, and I was very satisfied.

In September 2022, after relaxing at Hokkaido Hall, I planned to take a stroll along the Otaru Canal. However, my companion insisted on wanting to try the 8-layer soft serve ice cream. I managed to persuade them to try the 2nd most popular item instead, the "Hokkichi Special Rich Milk Soft Serve" (400 yen). It was smooth, not too sweet, and delicious, although it didn't seem particularly rich. Next time, I want to challenge myself and try the 8-layer soft serve with an empty stomach! My daughter was lured by the sign for 8-flavor soft serve ice cream and wandered into the shop. First, we confirmed the usual allergy information. "Do you use eggs in the soft serve?" Since they use cones with eggs, we decided to go with a cup. Plus, we had already bought various sweets, so we decided to save some room. We ordered the special mix with all 6 flavors - chocolate, strawberry, melon, milk, ramune, and white peach yogurt. It looked so Instagrammable! Even though she was happily eating, the ice cream was melting quickly in the nearly 30-degree heat. But each flavor was enjoyable, and she was very satisfied. Good for her! 🍦

The lighting in the shop is only lamps?! It is a shop where you can fully enjoy the mature atmosphere. I ordered the Cream White Ball with red bean paste. The collaboration of Tokachi-produced red bean paste and cream is an unmistakable dish! In this dimly lit shop, you can also enjoy glass crafts! This is the most recommended shop in Otaru. The stars are for the atmosphere of the shop only! The atmosphere is very nostalgic with live piano music, but the popular chiffon cake set has coffee and chiffon cake that are not tasty. The chiffon cake is dry and the coffee is not good either. It feels like this place is more about enjoying the atmosphere rather than the food.

The soft serve is quite firm, so it doesn't collapse easily. I thought it might be a touristy gimmick, but it was surprisingly tasty. During a visit to the company's third building terrace, I tried their famous "8-tier soft serve ice cream." Otaru is a competitive sweets area with various famous shops, and amidst the trendy sweets, I wanted to try something a bit different, which led me to try this unique soft serve that caught my attention in a guidebook. The shop was quiet when I visited on a Sunday around 5:30 pm, with only one other customer present. The menu featured a variety of soft serve ice creams, with the highlight being the 8-tier soft serve priced at 630 yen (tax included). The flavors in the 8 tiers included milk & chocolate, melon & strawberry, chocolate, milk, melon, strawberry, matcha, and ramune. The ice cream started melting from the moment it was served, but the individual flavors were enjoyable. The milk soft serve was rich and delicious, while the chocolate was tasty and the melon had a nice flavor. However, the matcha and ramune flavors got a bit lost towards the end, and by then, the mixture of flavors was a bit overwhelming. Overall, trying this unique soft serve was a good experience, and I'm glad I got to taste it.

Then, I found a shop at the back called Terrace, where they were serving an 8-tier parfait! Even though I had just eaten a mini parfait, the Instagram-worthy soft serve ice cream at this shop sparked my competitive spirit. So, I decided to take on the challenge of the 8-tier parfait! It had melon soft serve and wine soft serve in it, and the cone was filled to the brim with soft serve too. When it was handed to me, it was heavy! I got to work right away, blending the different flavors of each tier as I went. The melon flavor was refreshing and delicious, and the wine flavor was surprisingly light. As I progressed through each tier, I found myself eating out of sheer determination. My mouth was freezing, but I soldiered on until the end. I may not do Instagram, but I'll settle for a review on Tabelog. Thanks for the meal!

I wanted to try the famous 8-tier soft serve in Otaru, so I bought it when I passed by. It might be a bit difficult if you're in a car by yourself with just the driver's seat. The flavors were all delicious. It wasn't the kind of soft serve that melts right away, but rather a consistently tasty level of soft serve. The lavender flavor had a unique taste and felt a bit like a miss, but the rest were delicious. We shared it among three people. Ordered a 3-flavor soft serve - melon, chocolate, vanilla. Melon was delicious, chocolate was rich and satisfying, and vanilla had a refreshing sweetness. Enjoyed all three flavors. The acidity of the strawberry and the sweet-sour taste of the white peach were also great.
