Located in the educational district of Nishijin in Hakata West, Fukuoka City, Nishinan Gakuin University is situated between Meiji Street and Yokatopia Street. Within the campus lies Nishinan Kaikan, which serves as a base for student activities and clubs, as well as the Nishinan Gakuin University Co-op-operated student cafeteria called "Nishinan Kaikan Shokudo." The cafeteria offers a variety of set meals on the first floor with around 530 seats, specialized in rice bowl dishes on the second floor with about 450 seats, and a multipurpose hall on the second floor with approximately 270 seats that can also be used as a dining area, totaling over 1,000 seats. In addition to daily and regular menu items, they also offer limited-time specials to cater to different preferences. Popular dishes include the Negitoro Don and Niku Udon. The cafeteria is not only for students and staff but also open to the public, providing a lively and bustling atmosphere for everyone to enjoy their meals. You can also purchase homemade bento boxes and freshly baked bread for takeout at the adjacent store. It is a nostalgic and welcoming place where you can enjoy a hearty and healthy meal while watching students engage in various activities.

This time, I visited during the "Registered Dietitian Menu Fair" to have lunch. The menu not only displays calories but also fat and salt content, which is great for someone like me who needs to watch their health. The food is not only healthy but also delicious! There are two cafeterias at Seinan Gakuin University, and this one is run by the cooperative, so it's cheap. The building is old and the prices are low, so it's crowded with students and noisy. It's strange to see elementary school students (probably staff members' children), elderly men, and groups of elderly women. Maybe young people find it comfortable in the noisy, lively atmosphere? As I started using it, I found it interesting to just watch the energy of the young people. Some elderly people relax as if they were at home, reading newspapers while eating. It almost feels like having your father there. Sometimes there are grandmothers too, making it feel like a family. By the way, you can never find a seat during the students' lunch break. Lunch breaks are from 12:10 to 13:00 on Mondays and Fridays, and from 12:40 to 13:30 from Tuesdays to Thursdays. If you avoid those times, you'll be fine. Breakfast and dinner times have fewer users, so you can relax. The menu is limited, but don't expect too much from the taste - the pride here is the low prices. (The mango pudding was delicious though. It might have been a limited menu item.)

For my last memory at vocational school, I snuck into the university cafeteria nearby at Seinan Gakuin University! Well, I say "snuck in," but this place is open to the public, so we entered as regular customers. It was me and a friend. As expected, the cafeteria was filled with people around our age, mostly in their early 20s. And the menu was cheap! Just like a university cafeteria should be. I played it safe and ordered curry rice. It was good, just your average taste. But eating while watching the Seinan students made it taste a bit better, or so it felt.笑
