Akane Maru Honpo in Tennoji, Osaka, is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop known for their dorayaki. The dorayaki sold here can also be found in supermarkets in Osaka. The one I bought this time was the Five-Color Dorayaki from Akane Maru Honpo, marked with a star and the shop's name. The cute, fluffy dough and light-colored sweet bean paste are a delightful combination. Inside the light-colored sweet bean paste are five sweetened beans: "Kintoki beans," "Tora beans," "Uguisu beans," "Shiro beans," and "Azuki beans." These five sweet beans make the experience of eating this dorayaki enjoyable. I want to try other dorayaki from this shop as well.

In Osaka City, Tennoji Ward, there is a famous shop called "Akemaru Honpo Daion" located about a 10-minute walk from Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line "Shitennoji-mae Yuhigaoka" or JR "Tennoji Station". When I visited around 3:00 PM, most of the products were already sold out, but I managed to buy two delicious items. - "Muki An Shu" (298 yen including tax): Even before tasting it, I knew that red bean paste and cream go well together. It reminded me of "An Butter Bread", but the deliciousness of the red bean paste really stood out. The choux pastry and cream complemented it well, leaving a lingering taste of red bean paste at the end. - "Handmade Ohagi" (181 yen): The texture of the whole red bean paste and the subtle crush of the rice inside was excellent, with a slightly restrained sweetness. I could easily eat three of these ohagi (laughs). Akemaru really does great work. I would like to visit at an earlier time next time. Thank you for the delicious treats. - "Akemaru Honpo Daion" - Business Hours (Mon-Fri): 9:00-17:30, (Sat-Sun, Holidays): 10:30-17:30 - Closed: No regular holidays - Address: 2-13-15 Omichi, Tennoji Ward, Osaka City, Osaka

I received a popular dorayaki from Osaka as a souvenir. When I opened the bag, I found a dorayaki with the name "Akane Maru" engraved on the dough. The fluffy dough is filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste and large chestnut pieces. It was a delicious snack.

I bought the Osaka-exclusive souvenir "Gwashi!! Illustrated Akane Maru Akane Goshiki Dorayaki" at the Kazuo Umezu exhibition at the Harukas Art Museum to give to a friend I was meeting. I was able to purchase the Akane Maru on my second visit to the museum shop, as you can enter without a viewing ticket. The "Gwashi!! Illustrated Akane Maru Akane Goshiki Dorayaki" costs 800 yen, which is 2.4 times the price of a regular Akane Maru at 164 yen each. It's a bit pricey, but it's okay since it's a gift.

Visited Shitennoji Temple and feeling a bit tired, so let's take a break with something sweet. Oh, look, there's Akane Maru nearby. It's a shop that sells delicious traditional Japanese sweets, which I often buy at a supermarket near my home in Tokyo. I really like their chestnut dorayaki, five-color bean dorayaki, as well as their packs of sweet red bean paste and smooth red bean paste which are great for making traditional Japanese sweets. The high-quality flavor of the azuki beans is excellent. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, I couldn't eat inside the shop (only 2 seats available). Oh well, let's get some takeout and enjoy it at a rest area near Shitennoji Temple. (But the rest area was closed due to the pandemic too. Sad face) I bought a pudding dorayaki, which I've never seen in Tokyo before. It has a bouncy pudding with red bean paste and cream inside. The visual presentation is stylish with white chocolate drizzled on top, and the crunchy rice cracker topping adds a nice texture. Maybe a bit more cream would be nice. The main shop really has a wide variety of items, and I want to try more of them!

I bought a variety pack with 10 different items for an offering at a Buddhist memorial service. Since I didn't know everyone's preferences, I also bought 5 individual pieces of my mother's favorite colorful dorayaki. When I mentioned it was for a memorial service, they gave me items with longer expiration dates. Thank you. Besides the colorful dorayaki, I tried apple and yuzu flavors for the first time and they were delicious. I was surprised to see cakes as well. I will definitely go back to try more.

Located a 8-10 minute walk from Tennoji Station, Akane Maru Honpo Daiongan is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop established in 1940. The shop is known for its unique character, Akane Maru, who greets customers. They offer a variety of Japanese sweets such as dorayaki and ice cream, perfect for enjoying at home or on the go. I purchased their popular items, An Purin and Mizuyokan. The An Purin, a combination of rich red bean paste and egg custard, had a fusion of Western and Japanese flavors, each ingredient complementing one another perfectly. The Mizuyokan, filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste, was delicious as well. I highly recommend visiting this shop. Bon appétit!

Akemaru is famous for its colorful dorayaki and is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located near Shitennoji Temple. Their delicious red bean paste is not only popular among regular customers but also used in bakeries, Japanese confectionery shops, Western confectionery shops, welfare facilities, and more. Established in 1940, Akemaru continues to evolve its traditional Japanese sweets, as well as featuring commercials with Aketaro. One highly recommended item is the "Anpurin" for 270 yen each, which features a custard pudding topped with a light caramel sauce and smooth red bean paste. The combination of Japanese and Western flavors creates a harmonious balance. Another must-try is the "Kabukimon" for 130 yen each, which took over 5 years to develop. The rich red bean paste inside is complemented by the aroma of milk and butter, and the smooth texture melts in your mouth. You can even see the wig that Aketaro wore in the commercial at the store. If you're lucky, you might run into Aketaro himself, who is known for his warm and friendly service. You can also purchase their products on Akemaru's online store.

The filling is really special. I've been buying various types of fillings, including those from Imuraya. Imuraya is famous and delicious, but there are so many different types of fillings - some are thick and heavy when scooped with a spoon, some are dense, and some are light and smooth. When you eat them, some are rich and comforting, while others are light and refreshing. The filling from Akemaru this time was light and smooth! It reminded me of the famous red bean paste from Ise's Akafuku mochi. The location is around halfway between Shitennoji and Tennoji in Osaka - it has a very Osaka vibe with flashy buildings. At the entrance, there's probably a doll of the company president, running around on a motorized platform. It's cute. I bet the president is a fun person (*^▽^*) They're famous for their dorayaki, so most people probably buy that, but I'm hooked on just the filling, so I got only the filling. 500g for 540 yen - it's incredibly smooth and just slides out of the bag. It's different from the fluffy fillings, but it's really delicious!

Osaka Tennoji, Akemaru Honpo, Ah Honma, Ah Honma, if my big dream comes true, I wonder? A CM song I heard when I was a child. The round dorayaki was a treat at home during the New Year holidays. Akemaru Goshiki Dorayaki. As I grew older, I started avoiding sweets, and it had been a while since I had it. The fluffy dough and the red bean paste inside were delicious. The elegant and refined taste, low sugar content red bean paste.

Whip & red bean paste normal dorayaki (Lawson) is my favorite because the dough is moist and chewy, not too sweet, and has great value for money ❤️ However, I continue to search for a dorayaki that surpasses it. The shop is located near the South Gate of Shitenno-ji Temple, between Tanimachi-suji and Kamimachi-suji streets, along Route 25, which is a one-way street from the west. I was always curious about this place, but couldn't easily stop by because there is no parking lot (there is a coin parking lot just after turning left at the shop). Akemaru specializes in red bean paste, but it seems that they also sell a variety of dorayaki at the store. Overall impression... Appearance: stylish Price: stylish price (not cheap, but not overly expensive) Taste: delicious without being too sweet. The red bean paste tends to be prominent (which makes sense since red bean paste is their specialty). My thoughts after buying and eating this time... <Pudding dorayaki> - Half of it is coated in chocolate, which is crispy and delicious, and looks stylish - Pudding, red bean paste, and whipped cream, with the red bean paste being prominent <Mukinama choux> - A large choux pastry with a diameter of about 8cm - Filled with whipped cream and smooth red bean paste. Quite delicious! With a variety of flavors and a lovely appearance, it's great for giving to someone, as a souvenir, or as a treat for yourself! I will continue to visit and try other flavors.

I recently noticed a commercial airing and decided to buy [かぶきもん] at a nearby supermarket. I enjoyed it in various styles, from just as it is to microwaving it and toasting it, but it was delicious no matter how I ate it (*´∀`*)b

If you come to Shitenno-ji Temple, you must try the Akemaru Goshiki Dorayaki. This shop is well-known for its commercials and the variety of dorayaki they offer. You can even buy them at supermarkets like Konsho Store. However, at the shop, they also have chilled sweets available. Perfect for souvenirs for your family. The classic Goshiki Dorayaki costs 162 yen, while the chilled Strawberry Custard costs 194 yen. The combination of red bean paste and sweetened adzuki beans at this price point makes it easy to buy as a gift, and it also has a good shelf life. The chilled sweets have a wide variety, including seasonal limited-time flavors. The staff's service is always pleasant, and they even kindly allowed me to take photos. I noticed the presence of vinyl sheets on the counter for COVID-19 measures, creating a slight distance between the staff and customers, which felt a bit lonely. As I hum a cheerful support song, I look forward to revisiting this place.

In Tennoji, there is a shop called "Akane Maru" with cute dolls moving around as a sign. I was intrigued by their dorayaki pudding and decided to go in. I didn't know they also had cream puffs and other treats besides dorayaki. I bought a variety of items to take home and my family was delighted. The red bean paste is incredibly delicious, so smooth. They use peeled red bean paste, which makes it so smooth. I recommend the strawberry dorayaki pudding. Everything was delicious, but this one was unique and good! The classic items were also delicious, as always! I would definitely buy some souvenirs again when I'm nearby! (^-^)/

After a long time, I bought and ate Akimaru's dorayaki. The skin and filling were as usual, with a slightly light sweetness in the filling. The skin was thick and the filling was a bit on the higher side, giving a sense of quality. It is often used as a gift. Thank you for the delicious meal.

From Tennoji Station North Exit, walking through a very Osaka-like residential area towards the vicinity of Shitennoji Temple. Along Hankai National Route, there is a dorayaki shop called "Akane-ya" with humorous signs typical of Osaka. There are so many different types of dorayaki that it's hard to decide what to buy. The red bean paste business seems to be extensive, with manufacturing bases even in Tokyo. It seems to be popular among locals, as customers keep coming one after another. Feeling a bit tired from the heat outside, I decided to take a break. The prices are mostly around the mid-100 yen range for custard, red bean paste, etc. It's not much different from the renowned wagashi shops in Tokyo. Inside the shop, there are simple chairs where you can sit and enjoy while sipping cold tea. I decided to try a few dorayaki. Custard, tapioca milk, they're okay... but surprisingly, the soda-flavored ramune paste dorayaki was delicious. Perfect for the summer. When it comes to red bean paste sweets, they can be heavy in the summer, so this refreshing flavor is a good choice. It goes really well with cold tea. I also bought the popular milk manju (Kabukiemon) as a souvenir. Outside, I saw a character doll named "Akitaro". I wonder if he's the owner? Osaka people really seem to love this kind of thing, just like the food-loving character Kuidaore Taro.

I thought Akemaru only had dorayaki, but they also have milk manju. And the packaging is lovely. My son, who loves Kabuki, was drawn to the packaging. Milk manju Kabuki style. Even my son, who doesn't like sweet bean paste, enjoyed tasting it. The dorayaki is as delicious as ever.

The other day, on my way home, I came across a famous shop in Osaka, so I decided to stop by! Although I occasionally see Akemaru's dorayaki at other stores, since I was at the main shop, I decided to splurge on their chewy dorayaki and limited edition sakura bean dorayaki. They were a bit pricey at around 300 yen each, but the taste was much better than regular dorayaki! The weight of the dorayaki was immediately apparent when I held it in my hand, and the chewy texture of the outer dough combined with the chewiness of the mochi inside created a rich and sweet flavor that I loved. The sakura bean dorayaki had a generous amount of red bean paste and a strong sakura flavor, leaving me completely satisfied. I will definitely stop by again. Thank you for the delicious treats!

In March 2019, I bought some dorayaki from "Akemaru Honpo" near Shitennoji Temple. I have purchased from them before, but this is my first review. They have a variety of dorayaki flavors, and this time the lineup included: Banana (Custard), Caramel Banana, Cafe au Lait (Cream), Double Chocolate (Cream), Mochi Dorayaki (Matcha), Strawberry (Cream), Strawberry (Custard), Strawberry (Chocolate Cream), Banana (Cream), Anko Whipped Cream, and more. I bought Caramel Banana, Mochi Dorayaki with Kinako, and Mochi Dorayaki with Purple Sweet Potato. The Caramel Banana was delicious with a combination of banana, cream, and caramel. The Mochi Dorayaki had a generous amount of filling and was satisfying to eat without feeling heavy. Overall, it was a delightful experience.

Well, well, I often feel like eating Akane Maru's Goshiki Dorayaki. (*´ω`*) I got it! (*´ω`*) The key is to have large red beans inside. In reality, it may not look like five colors, but mostly just red bean paste with a few white beans. But the taste is good. When you want something sweet, this is the one to go for. Thank you for the meal! ☆★ (σ´∀`)σ ★☆ Thank you for visiting and reading. ♫ ( ´θ`)ノ release 2018 Nankaihawks1’s gourmet guide Nankaihawks1’s blog http://hawks1.exblog.jp/
