I visited Kiraku, located a short walk from Kami-Shinjo Station. They have a variety of menu items, but everything is delicious! Especially the meat - the steak and beef cutlet are amazing! The udon for dessert is also a must-try! Oh, and the sake selection here is great, but the beer is also delicious with fine bubbles!

Unfortunately, there is no favorite udon restaurant in Jo Shinjo, so I had high hopes for this place. The hand-made udon served at this izakaya during lunchtime is reasonably priced. I found that the cold udon was better than the hot one. I tried the bukkake udon with geso tempura topping for 600 yen. The udon noodles were thin, soft, and lacked the flavor of wheat. Miso soup was served with the udon, which had no broth. This udon may not please udon enthusiasts, but it is a good option for lunch at an izakaya. The restaurant has a slightly old-fashioned Showa-era charm, which I found appealing. I think it would be a nice place to visit for izakaya dining in the evening.
