Ron Poan, located in Higashi Ward, is a shop that specializes in bread and sweets. I absolutely love their croquant, which is among the top sweets in Fukuoka in my opinion. I enjoy the crunchy texture and the abundance of nuts, which are my favorite. The nuts are large and fragrant, and the sweetness is just right. I also recommend trying the tea-flavored version. Overall, it was a delicious experience. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Hotel Okura Fukuoka and was looking for a bakery nearby that opens early in the morning for breakfast. I found Hakataza Bakery just around the corner, and I went in shortly after they opened at 8 am. I couldn't resist buying a bread that was perfect for breakfast, which you can eat with bacon and eggs. It was really recommended for breakfast. I also tried their kinako (soybean flour) fried bread, which was fluffy and delicious with a sweet kinako flavor. The anpan (red bean paste bun) from Hakataza was filled with plenty of red bean paste. The Hinata chicken sandwich, curry bread, and fried bread with sausage were all tasty as well. It was nice to brew some hot coffee in my room and enjoy the delicious bread while looking at the view. Thank you for the meal! I used it when I watched Miss Saigon. Before the corona, I could have a meal freely inside the Hakataza theater, but during the corona pandemic, I thought it would be nice to have a quick meal, so I used it for the first time. When I visited before the show, the variety of bread was good, with a wide selection of meal-type sandwiches and sweet dessert-type breads. This time, I chose bread that would fill me up a little because I had plans for dinner right after the show, so I bought the White Condensed Milk Bread and the Chewy Cheese Bread. The White Condensed Milk Bread was quite sweet, not very big in size, and looked fluffy, but it filled me up quite a bit! The Chewy Cheese Bread was a traditional Pon de Queso, with a moderate amount of saltiness and cheesiness, making it just right for snacking during intermission to satisfy my hunger.

I happened to come across this bakery near Nakasu Kawabata Station and decided to stop by. It is located on the first floor of the Hakata-za building right after exiting Nakasu Kawabata Station. The shop has a small but stylish bakery atmosphere inside the building. I bought a croissant. The croissant was quite large in size, with a crispy surface and a light and fluffy interior. It had a decent buttery taste and was quite delicious. Since I stumbled upon this shop by chance, I didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be surprisingly good. I would like to try a different type of bread next time.

On 4/24 (Sunday), I walked from Hakozaki Station to the Yakuin area to go on a bread tour. It was about a 20km stroll. It was cloudy when I started, but the sun came out shining brightly from noon to evening, making me slightly regret wearing long sleeves. Now, let me introduce the visited shops one by one. Visited Shop #3: "Hakataza Bakery" This shop is located next to Hakataza. I didn't plan on visiting this shop, but it caught my eye on the way to the next bakery. I went in and bought some interesting items. I got the Gyoni-So Pan and the Hakataza Anpan. I was completely hooked by the label on the Hakataza Anpan saying "Only available at Hakataza!" The Gyoni-So Pan was eaten right after leaving the shop. It is a stick-shaped fried bread with a sausage cut in half used as is. At first glance, it looks like a stick-shaped curry bread. But when you take a bite, the sausage appears! Sausage x curry bread, not a combination that comes to mind easily. But surprisingly, it tastes delicious! The Gyoni-So Pan is said to be a famous product of Hakataza Bakery. The Hakataza Anpan, also considered a famous product, I will try another day. On 4/27 (Wednesday) morning, I had the Hakataza Anpan from "Hakataza Bakery" and the Petite Raisin Bread from "Epidor" (to be reviewed separately). The Hakataza Anpan has the Hakataza imprint on it, showing its value as something you can only buy at Hakataza. When you cut it open, it is filled with red bean paste. The homemade red bean paste is made with ingredients all from Hokkaido, showing their dedication. The perfect sweetness of the red bean paste and the fluffy, fragrant bread (probably made with sake kasu) bring happiness to your awakening body.

I ended up buying Croquant, Blanc et Darjeeling from the bakery. It's hard to pass by Hakata-za Bakery without stopping, I resisted a few times during this stay but ended up buying inside Hakata-za. I know how delicious it is. The crunchy texture is so good, not too sweet. The aroma is the winner, especially with the Earl Grey. The bread is good, but Croquant is my favorite.

During my wife's outing, I went to "HAKATAZA BAKERY" on the 1st floor of Hakataza to look for breakfast bread, and ended up buying a loaf of bread for 500 yen. It seems like there were many options, but her eyes were drawn to the loaf of bread. Unlike the trendy bread from specialty stores these days, this bread was not pale or soft, but had a firm outer crust with a nice brown color. It even had the "Hakataza" logo stamped on the side! It would make a great souvenir to take home. Today, we decided to simply enjoy it with some butter. It had a slight sweetness, but not overpowering. Since it's on the smaller side, a few slices should be enough. Thank you for the meal.

Even if you don't enter Hakata-za, there's a bakery on the first floor. It's just a regular street shop, but the quality is quite impressive! By the way, Hakata-za is probably my favorite theater. I can't come often, though. Peanut bread. It's filled with peanuts, and inside, there's a mildly sweet peanut paste, not butter. So it's refreshing. Churros, moist rather than crispy, with a simple sweetness that warms the heart. Earl Grey croissant, a light texture, maybe due to cashew nuts? Crispy and crunchy. Tea, a hidden feeling in the caramel. Among croissants, this is a type I really like. No stickiness at all. Cafe Caramel, a moist pound cake, rich coffee flavor for adults, with a strong bitterness and caramel aroma. Yeah, I'll buy it again. Even without entering Hakata-za.

The purpose was to seek the limited edition anpan at Hakataza, which is the only one. Upon entering, the left shelf was full of Hakataza anpan, clearly indicating the main products. Further inside, there was an anpan with shiratama dumplings inside, which was a fantastic find. However, the shiratama dumplings unexpectedly turned out to be hard. It may be better for elderly people to warm it up before eating to soften the tough shiratama. The anko filling was not very sweet, and the bread had a slightly dry texture. It seemed like it was designed to be eaten warm. The overall impression was that it lacked something when eaten as is. The anpan from Hakataza had the same slightly dry texture as the shiratama bread, and the anko had a strong appearance with visible grains. The taste was not sweet, but rather had a hint of saltiness. It seemed like a unique type of anpan, perhaps meant to be enjoyed for its saltiness. I would only recommend it if you are buying it as a souvenir for the Hakataza limited edition logo. I offered it to a coworker who had no interest in anpan nearby, and they said, "Isn't it just normal?" Maybe I am just too focused on the sweetness. It was a good experience. Let's eat it warm.

Took my daughters to Hakataza. It's been a while since I last saw Ebizo. It was the first time for my daughters at Hakataza. Surprisingly, we went to see an AKB performance of "Ninkyo Naki Otoko." A classic by Bunta Sugawara... I remember seeing it on TV. I was a bit worried about AKB performing it... I wonder how it will turn out? Oh, Bunta-san. Personally, I preferred "Truck Yaro" over this one! (laughs) We arrived just in time, so we grabbed a bite at the first-floor "HAKATAZA BAKERY." I wanted to eat a bento on the upper floor, but my daughters weren't hungry. However, this bakery was very stylish... with a small, crowded interior filled with delicious-looking bread. I wanted to try them all. My favorite was the "Oeuf" croque-monsieur (200 yen). It was so delicious. The "Old-fashioned Sausage" (160 yen) was a fried fish sausage on bread, completely different but also tasty. They had special burgers for the performance, AKB Burger and HKT Burger. I also got the "HKT Burger" (400 yen). "H (Hinata chicken)," "K (cut cabbage)," "T (tomato sauce)." The K was a bit forced, but it was delicious. My daughters had a croissant (180 yen), Hakataza red bean bun (200 yen), and German potato focaccia (250 yen), sticking to the safe choices as usual. I also got scones for souvenirs, "Fig and Cranberry" (200 yen) and "Caramel" (200 yen). They were light and perfect with coffee! Enjoyed them even after we got home. It was a fun night at Hakataza. Ended up buying more treats at the upper floors, but this bakery was a lifesaver for my daughters. Surprisingly, the AKB performance of "Ninkyo Naki Otoko" was a complete copy of the original. I actually enjoyed it. (laughs)

Hakata-za Bakery in Fukuoka City, Hakata-ku, Nakasu Kawabata area is a bakery located on the first floor of Hakata-za, a theater specializing in kabuki and other theatrical performances. I stopped by for lunch as it was nearby. The compact store does not have seating for dining in, but there are a few terrace seats outside that you can use. The main attraction is the anpan with the Hakata-za logo, which seems to be their specialty. In the showcase next to the register, there are Western-style sweets such as choux cream and madeleines, which I purchased. The items I bought were: Hakata-za anpan, sausage bread, apple cinnamon bread, and sandwich bread. The sausage bread had a thick fish sausage inside with a sweet curry sauce in a fried bun. This type of bread is not commonly found in trendy bakeries these days, but I personally like it. The apple cinnamon bread was a thin type of bread with a sense of Western sweets. The anpan was for my mother, who was delighted to see the Hakata-za logo on it. Although the image of the bread is traditional, it is a reasonable souvenir from Hakata-za that older people seem to admire. Hakata-za Bakery is open from 8 am to 7 pm and has a few terrace seats outside.

After leaving the ramen shop, I decided to buy some bread at a bakery nearby. I searched on Tabelog for a bakery near Nakasu Kawabata Station, as it was a Sunday and I assumed many shops would be open. I found a bakery that had just been renovated last year. It is located near the Hakataza theater. I arrived at the shop around 11:00 AM and saw a sign near the pedestrian crossing. The shop is located near the entrance of Hakataza on the first floor. The interior of the shop is relatively small. Since it was an odd time, there were no other customers. Since it was my first visit, I took my time looking around. Without much prior research, I picked out a few bread items, paid, and left the shop. There was also seating outside, but I had just eaten soba so I decided to take the bread home. I bought a curry bun, a bread with white bean paste and rice cake, and a mango brioche. They were all small in size. The curry bun was mild and had a thick and easy-to-eat curry filling. It was quite delicious with plenty of curry inside. The bread with white bean paste and rice cake had a chewy texture due to the rice cake. The sweetness of the bean paste was somewhat subdued. The mango brioche, a new item, was moist and had a juicy mango flavor. It seemed to also contain cheese. I leisurely finished all the bread items. The total cost was 670 yen. Although the bread items were small, the price seemed reasonable considering the location near Hakataza. I often visit Nakasu Kawabata Station, so I may stop by again in the future.

Breakfast bread at the office. "Hakata-za Bakery" in Kawabata. I heard that the "Hakata-za Bakery" on the 1st floor of Hakata-za has been renovated, but the appearance and interior don't seem to have changed much. They still have their famous red bean paste bread. Oh, but overall, it seems like the prices have gone up a bit. The fluffy egg and bacon sandwich called "Ufu" is 200 yen. The sausage bread with a large sausage is 280 yen. The popular hamburger is now 300 yen. It seems like they have become a bit more expensive. Well, I guess it suits the customer base.

After visiting Dazaifu, I came to Hakataza via Tenjin and Nakasu Kawabata. I was looking for flyers or posters for the HKT48 young member performances on January 8th and 9th, but couldn't find any. Since I had come all the way here, I looked around and found a bakery next to the grand staircase. Suddenly, Emily's voice could be heard and a promotional video for the performance started playing on the huge monitor above. After watching it, I went into the bakery and bought an anpan with the Hakataza logo for 200 yen. It didn't have whipped cream or custard, but I had to buy it! I wanted to take a picture of Emily's first appearance, so I spent about 10 minutes staring at the screen, but there was no more HKT promotion after that. The next morning, I had it for breakfast. The bread was a bit dry, probably because it was a day old, but it had plenty of sweet red bean paste filling. It was quite sweet, so I needed more than one cup of tea to balance it out.

I was curious about the whipped cream croissant and the chocolate cream croissant, so I asked the staff if the chocolate cream croissant has whipped cream or chocolate cream inside, and she told me it has chocolate cream. So, I decided to try the chocolate cream croissant this time. The chocolate cream inside was not too sweet and when I ate about half of the croissant, the cream started to overflow. It was worth the price of 230 yen. They also started selling a red bean bun for 200 yen at this shop, but it feels a bit lighter than before. It's a delicious red bean bun with red bean paste. The sausage fried bread has curry sauce spread inside, which increases your appetite.

I purchased these breads from a bakery before going to see a play at Hakataza theater. The breads from this bakery can be brought into the theater, which was convenient. I bought three types of savory bread (curry bread, avocado topped bread, egg and bacon topped bread) and an anpan. They were all delicious. I will definitely purchase them again the next time I go see a play.

During the performance of the new Kabuki play "Arashi no Yoru ni," original bread was being sold at the Hakataza Bakery, so I decided to buy some. The bread was designed to resemble the two main characters, with two pieces in a set. One piece had chocolate dough with whipped cream representing the wolf, and the other had white dough with milk cream representing the goat, but... it ended up looking like a mysterious creature because I tried to attach their faces to the bread. I only bought this original bread and a salt bread for now, but since the dough was good, I'm thinking of trying some other items as well. (After all, it's a Simon series). The original bread is said to be sold at the theater shop on the Hakataza official website, but it is also available at the bakery on the first floor, so you can buy it even without watching the play.

Strolling around Hakata. Walking through the arcade from Kushida Shrine to Kawabata, you will come across "Hakata-za." On the first floor of Hakata-za, you will find a bakery called "Hakata-za Bakery" with a trendy atmosphere. Feeling a bit hungry, I decided to buy a sandwich for a snack. I chose the Basil Chicken Panini for 350 yen. It's a bit pricey, but I took a big bite. Hmm. It's just delicious. A chicken and cheese sandwich with basil sauce on a bun, or rather a panini. It gives off a healthy and low-calorie impression. Thank you for the meal.
