I decided to have lunch at Shin-Osaka Station, so I went to Bon cafe located on the 2nd floor of Medio Shin-Osaka, between the Midosuji Line Shin-Osaka Station and the Shinkansen Shin-Osaka Station. The restaurant is divided into smoking and non-smoking sections (smoking on the right, non-smoking on the left), but there are no partitions, so the overall atmosphere is a bit cloudy. Since it was lunchtime, I chose the Omurice set for 900 yen. The Omurice set includes Omurice (with demi-glace sauce or white sauce), a mini salad, and a drink. The price of 900 yen seems a bit high for what you get. The Omurice was fluffy, but the taste was just average. I was a bit bothered by the small tables and the service. Being located in a station facility (outside the ticket gates), I guess the small space is unavoidable. The service was at the level of a typical café with young staff. If I'm in a hurry at the station and it's not crowded, I might choose to eat here. Medio Shin-Osaka seems to be a result of JR's lackluster facilities, as you can see from their website. As a comparison, Osaka Station, just one stop away, has the recently renovated Ekimaru Shé. Both Medio and Ekimaru Shé are located under the platforms (outside the ticket gates), but which one would you prefer to visit? I took my mother to Shin-Osaka Station to catch a Shinkansen, and since we had some time before departure, our family decided to have dinner at the dining area in the station building. We had trouble deciding on a restaurant as my daughters couldn't agree on whether to have udon, omurice, 551 Horai, or okonomiyaki. Eventually, we settled on BON, where I ordered the chicken cutlet set while the others got omurice and seafood gratin. The chicken cutlet was small but tasty, and the omurice and gratin were also delicious. The food came out quickly, making it a good option for a quick meal.

In August, I decided to avoid the Bon holiday traffic congestion in Osaka by taking the Shinkansen. Unfortunately, the Shinkansen was suspended due to bad weather at Shinagawa, causing unexpected fatigue. Upon arrival at Shin-Osaka, I decided to replenish my energy by enjoying a fruit parfait and hot coffee at a café called Medio in the Shin-Osaka station building. The fruit parfait was beautifully decorated with melon, pineapple, oranges, bananas, strawberries, and a generous amount of whipped cream. It had a refreshing and delightful taste. The hot coffee was standard but had a nice tangy aftertaste, which was perfect for waking me up. The café was bustling with customers due to its location, but the seating arrangement was spacious and comfortable. It's a recommended spot for those craving a big parfait in Shin-Osaka.

July 2012. I had the ginger pork set meal. It tasted familiar, like store-bought ginger pork. I sometimes come here when I have some free time. The restaurant is non-smoking, and many people enjoy a coffee while taking a break. Most customers during lunch seem to be office workers. March 2012. I ordered the omurice for lunch. I was in a hurry to catch a bullet train for a business trip, so speed was crucial. The restaurant was spacious, and the young staff member was refreshing and provided good service. The omurice had a keema curry flavor, with a curry-colored appearance. The egg was fluffy and creamy, and the ketchup rice had a strong flavor, which I found acceptable. The curry flavor may have enhanced the ketchup taste. Overall, it was tasty. The service was quick as the restaurant was not busy, but it may get crowded during peak hours.

The world seems to be in summer vacation mode, with kids even sneaking onto the weekday bullet trains. I can't understand how the annoying noise can continue endlessly, coming from the bratty kid next to me. Talking in a high-pitched voice non-stop is a kind of pollution. Are they sick or something? It's so irritating! Even if I scold them, the bratty kid won't understand. The older brother looked scared though. If I raise my hand, I'll be the one who loses. The mother got angry and said, "Can't you travel quietly? You'll be tired from running around since morning when you go back!" In times like this, it's best to listen to music on a Walkman to drown out the noise. Oh, the battery ran out... When it comes to lunchtime at Shin-Osaka Station, you'll have a hard time deciding where to eat with so many shops below the ticket gate. Just like carnivorous plants waiting for insects with their beautiful colors and scents, the eateries are eagerly waiting for customers with their mouth wide open, displaying samples of delicious meals. As I walked through the food court, consulting with my stomach, I locked onto the minced cutlet and chicken karaage. The other option was omurice, but being a meat lover, whether it's chicken or minced meat, omurice wasn't even considered. I ordered the minced cutlet and chicken karaage set for 900 yen. Oh, it comes with a drink too. I'll have an iced coffee. Here comes my lunch. The minced cutlet is topped with demi-glace sauce. The freshly fried chicken karaage is so hot that it almost burns my tongue. There was a potato salad hidden next to the salad. And surprisingly, it came with a drink. It seems like lunch sets with drinks are becoming rare these days. It's nice to have a drink included when you have some time to relax.

Before heading out for the long weekend, I tried to find a place to eat, but all the familiar names like Kameo, Hourai, Mimi Uo, and Naniwa Soba didn't seem exciting. I briefly considered going to "Tamago to Watashi," but there's a branch at Whity Umeda that I can always visit, and I've been there many times before. So, I decided to try a place called "BOM" just before that. The interior was apparently divided into smoking and non-smoking sections, and I was asked if I preferred non-smoking. Since I don't smoke, I was seated near the entrance, which was convenient because I had a large bag. The staff at the restaurant were all very polite, standing out as exceptional in Shin-Osaka. The pork ginger stir-fry set meal I ordered for 920 yen arrived quickly, but it was disappointingly bland. The pork lacked flavor, the sauce was weak, and it didn't pair well with the rice. For 920 yen, it was pretty bad, and I couldn't help but think the 850 yen bento from Shabutei would have been better. Despite this, the staff remained courteous throughout. I don't think I'll go back, but I want to emphasize that it's not a bad place.

Around 2 pm, a little after lunchtime, the restaurant was empty. They have both smoking and non-smoking areas, with about 5 lunch options to choose from. I ordered the safe option, the ginger pork set meal. It came with ginger pork, a bit of vegetables, miso soup, rice, and a drink. Two things bothered me. Firstly, the meat was extremely tough, overcooked for sure. It felt like they used cheap meat. Secondly, the miso soup was very watery. Despite these issues, the lunch set at 920 yen in Shin-Osaka station with a drink included, and the comfortable seating, made it not a big problem.

On February 25, 2010, I was wandering in Osaka! Sorry for the delayed update_|‾|◎)) After finishing work in Esaka, before heading home, I wanted to eat "kushikatsu" so I had a quick drink at Shin-Osaka Station♪v^^v The place I went to was "Cafe Bon". You might think it's strange to have kushikatsu at a cafe, but they had a kushikatsu set displayed outside the shop, so I decided to stop by before catching the Shinkansen! The interior of the shop had only table seats, around 20 tables... I quickly ordered the kushikatsu (with beer) set. There were 5 types of kushikatsu, crispy and piping hot, perfect with beer♪ I ordered another beer! I also added some snacks, octopus karaage and umeyakko. Although they had takoyaki on the menu, it was almost time for me to catch the Shinkansen (time's up) so I sadly left the shop... (・´з`・)ぷぅー It was deliciousヽ(´∀`*)ノ【Cafe Bon】TEL06-6302-5931Address: 5-16-1 Nishinakajima, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka-shi, OsakaInside Shin-Osaka Station 2FOpening hours: 7:00-21:30Closed: NoneBonus: Next time I wander in Osaka, I'll eat a ton of kushikatsu!ヾ(◎´д`)ノ [ThankYou!!] Feel free to leave a comment, but if the administrator deems it inappropriate, it will be deleted.

I stopped by a restaurant on a whim and decided to take a walk since the weather was nice. As I was walking, I started to feel hungry and began looking for a place to eat. That's when I found it! What caught my eye was the omurice, a trendy dish with a creamy egg on top. Of course, it was served with demi-glace sauce instead of ketchup. The creamy egg definitely pairs well with demi-glace sauce! It went down smoothly into my stomach in no time!

It's a Western-style restaurant located in the dining area outside the ticket gates of Shin-Osaka Station. It's not as crowded as the restaurants inside the gates, and there are plenty of seats available. I went in alone and sat at a table for four. I was drawn in by the happy hour offer for draft beer until 6 pm. I ordered a draft beer and four pieces of kushikatsu, and they recommended a set menu which was cheaper than the happy hour deal. It included four pieces of kushikatsu with shrimp, lotus root, and others. They were hot but not overpowering. The only downside was that the sauce was served in a small dish, making it hard to dip. I also ordered takoyaki, which may not be a specialty. For my second beer, I ordered another draft beer. I also tried the grilled edamame, which was priced at 350 yen, 50 yen more than boiled edamame, but the portion was generous and the taste was great. It may be a specialty. For my third beer, the total bill was in the 2000 yen range.
