There was a long line in front of the ticket gate at Senri-Chuo Station. One is the well-known 551 Horai, and the other is this shop, Gozakugo. Since my relatives were gathering for New Year's, I bought some as souvenirs. I got 11 pieces of red bean paste turnovers for 95 yen each, totaling 1,045 yen (tax included). They recently raised the price, but still 95 yen per piece, which is amazing. The red bean paste inside is unbelievably delicious. It's not fancy, but the subtly sweet taste is really good. Personally, I think it's tastier than Usagiya's dorayaki. Thank you for the meal.

Ordered items... were as expected. The dishes... selling for around 100 yen nowadays seems tough, but I bought them anyway! I wonder if items like taiyaki and dorayaki really make a profit... Japanese-style sweets definitely have a stable appeal. The filling is not too sweet, which makes it feel like you haven't done anything wrong. The moist skin is quite nice.

Located underground in Hankyu Senri, this shop is situated between Senri Chuo Station and the department store. Priced at 95 yen each, they have gradually increased the price, but it is still cheap. The red bean filling is not too sweet and very delicious. They are quite large, so eating two of them will make you feel full.

Introducing "Gozakou"さん's taiyaki, which is well-known in the Kansai region! I didn't know until recently that Gozakou is a company from Himeji (^O^;)☆ Gozakou's taiyaki is sweet and savory. The red bean paste made from Hokkaido Tokachi beans has a great texture and some stores even have long lines. They also offer a delicious white bean paste made from silky smooth beans. Now, a question for everyone! What is this type of taiyaki called in your area? In Osaka, it's called "taiyaki," but the sweet and savory old man called it "taiko manju" ( •̀ᴗ•́ )/

A traditional Japanese confectionery shop located underground in the center of the city. They only offer takeout. The customer service is good. They accept iD payments. I purchased the Gozakou's red bean paste for 85 yen this time, which I received at Hankyu Department Store. The taste is decent, a bit on the sweet side, but satisfying when eaten warm. I thought it was cheap.

Now, I have come to Senri-Chuo and found something delightful at Senri Hankyu's rear waiting area. Without delay, I went for the 85 yen (tax included) red bean paste taiyaki. It was piping hot and made me happy to eat it right away. If you take it home, you might break a sweat, but it's still delicious. The red bean paste has whole beans in it, and the sweetness is just right, so one piece is satisfying. Thank you for the feast. Release: November 2015.

In the underground passage on the Hankyu side, there is a place that I sometimes crave. It's a type of snack that is known by different names in different regions, such as "kaitenyaki" or "obanyaki". You can choose between two types of fillings, red bean paste and white bean paste, but both are popular choices. The process of making them can be seen through the glass window, and they are served warm and gooey. They go well with green tea. Personally, I prefer the sweeter white bean paste, but I often see people buying the red bean paste. It's a perfect snack when you're feeling a bit hungry or as a small gift, and the best part is that you can buy and eat them quickly.

Today, I would like to introduce a popular sweets shop called Gozakou located in Senri Hankyu (as well as other locations). It is a representative sweet in the Kansai region, not commonly seen in Kanto. I rarely visit Senri Chuo, so last week I took a walk around while running errands. Next to Senri Celsie where live events are often held, there is Senri Hankyu. I had never been to Senri Hankyu before, so I stopped by in search of sweets. To my surprise, there were few shops in the sweets corner of Senri Hankyu! Honestly, it was unexpected. There were only shops like Henri Charpentier and Morozoff, nothing new. But since I was feeling a bit peckish, I was hoping to find something light to eat. That's when I came across Gozakou, the shop I will introduce today. I purchased two red bean and three white bean sweets (90 yen each). They are carefully wrapped. The size is great for the price. Now, let's taste them. They are filled with plenty of sweet bean paste. The sweetness of the chunky bean paste is consistent. If I could have Gozakou for breakfast every day, maybe I would see some better results with a little more research. Personally, I prefer the white bean ones.

In the central area of Senri-Chuo, downstairs from Senri-Hankyū station on the Midosuji line, there are several major stores. Among them, located next to 551, is a shop called Gozakō. I used to buy from here a lot, but I haven't been back in a while, as I now frequent the Umeda branch. The last time I ate was at the Umeda branch, but the taste is the same, and I prefer to limit my reviews to one visit per chain store, so I'll review the Senri-Chuo location. This shop sells traditional taiyaki, and it meets a decent standard compared to other stores, so I used to indulge occasionally. However, I later realized that Gozakō is actually a chain store. I feel embarrassed for thinking it was just a "delicious shop in Senri-Chuo" (laughs). They are famous for their regular red bean paste and white bean paste taiyaki, but I prefer the white bean paste. In fact, I really like white bean paste, even when it comes to anpan, I prefer white anpan over regular anpan (by the way, I prefer smooth red bean paste over chunky red bean paste). The skin is delicious, and the filling is generous, making you feel like you got a good deal! Even when it cools down, you can reheat it in the microwave to enjoy it again, making it a perfect souvenir to bring home!

When I used to work in Senri-Chuo, I would often buy from Gozakou. I especially love their white bean paste. Even when I buy white bean paste from other stores, it's just not the same - sometimes too sweet. Gozakou is still the best. Although it's in a different location now, it's closer to the station, which is more convenient. This time, I bought a mix of red (regular bean paste) and white. And about the Gozakou itself... I ate it without even taking a photo (laughs). The white bean paste is made from a type of green bean called "Tebomame," which is rich in dietary fiber and is said to be a preventive medicine for gourmets! (From the Gozakou website) I don't go to Senri-Chuo much these days, so I rarely eat it anymore, but I still love it.

At Senju, there were a lot of red bean snacks which my parents love. Whenever we went there, we would always bring some back home. They were also stored in the freezer. They are not too sweet, so you can easily eat two of them. I prefer the red ones, but sometimes I crave the white ones. When I buy them, I usually get 8 red and 2 white. I currently live in the city, so I can only go there occasionally. When I want to eat them, I heat them up in the microwave and lightly toast them in the oven. They are cheap, filling, and satisfying!

Next to Penglai, there is a place called Gozakou. I finally visited it after being curious for a while. I tried one of each, black bean paste and white bean paste, each costing 85 yen. The black bean paste has a clear sweetness that satisfies my sweet cravings. Although it has bean grains, it doesn't have a strong grainy texture. I don't particularly taste the bean flavor, but it is a very delicious sweet bean paste. The white bean paste has a sweetness reminiscent of kidney beans. It has a smooth texture in the dorayaki and a gentle sweetness. Personally, I prefer the black bean paste, but I feel like I want to have the white bean paste about one out of three times. I was able to buy a reliable taste for 85 yen.

Sometimes my mom buys this thing on her way back from work. This thing, well, you guys probably don't know much about other people's souvenir customs haha. I always thought her workplace was around Minami-Morimachi or something. But turns out it's in Senri-Chuo. And right next to the 551 Horai pork bun shop haha. The other day, when I was sent to buy pork buns, I happened to stumble upon it. While waiting for the pork buns, I saw them baking and couldn't resist buying one. It's a shop that sells taiyaki (fish-shaped cake filled with sweet red bean paste or white bean paste). I got both the red bean paste and white bean paste ones. Yeah, it's a very standard taste. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5! I wonder if there are people who don't like it. Oh, it looks like the pork buns are ready too.

When it comes to oyaki, this place is the best. It's cheap and delicious! Really delicious! If you find it in the department store basement, you can't go wrong with buying from this shop. The sweet red bean paste is delicious! It's not the expensive kind you find in high-end stores, but it's more like the taste you grew up with at home. It's a comforting and delicious taste. Of course, there are probably fancy taiyaki and red bean paste sweets at high-end stores, but this taste is just irreplaceable. The affordability is also a plus! Definitely recommended!

There is a corner in the food section at Senri Hankyu station where freshly baked Gozakko is quietly sold. It is shared with 551 Horai, so when waiting in line at Horai, I often feel like getting some Gozakko as well. I prefer the black bean paste filling over the white bean paste, as it is not too sweet and the outer skin is chewy. You can easily eat 2 or 3 of them in one go. It could also be a nice souvenir. You can see them being baked, and when they are fresh out of the oven, they are really hot with a slightly crispy outside. It may not stand out as much as the line for Horai, but when you stop by Senri Chuo station, I recommend trying this simple and delicious treat.

The shop is located on the underground first floor directly connected from the central ticket gate of Senri-Chuo Station. It is a symmetrical station with a left-right design, but this shop is located on the Senri Hankyu side of the passage. A few years ago, it was located in the underground of the Senri Hankyu building, but it moved to the outside passage during a renovation. The food is cheap, filling, and delicious, so there always seems to be someone lined up in front of the shop. The staff's handling is very fast, so even if there is a line of customers, it is over in no time. There are red and white bean pastes available, and it seems that many people buy both. I personally like the red (regular) bean paste. As it gets colder, it becomes a classic and popular Japanese sweet that you want to eat with hot tea.

I love both red bean paste and white bean paste! But today, because it's hot, I bought the summer limited edition ice cream. I bought both flavors, but I think I like the matcha ice cream better... The red bean paste is incredibly delicious. Every time I pass by near Hankyu Department Store, I can't help but hesitate if I should buy it or not (laughs).

A chain store in Senju offers a large dorayaki for only 90 yen, which is very affordable and filling. They have both white bean paste and black bean paste, and I love both options. There are other snack options in the area, like Mister Donut, but there's nothing as convenient and consistently delicious as this traditional Japanese sweet treat!
