Now the legendary Osaka spice curry "Columbia Eight". I heard that the Sakaisuji Hommachi branch is open for dinner on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, so I visited promptly. The Sakaisuji Hommachi branch exudes the same unique aura as the main store. I want the Columbia font. Compared to the main store with only 9 counter seats, it gives a much more relaxed impression. This may be due to the fact that the main store is filled with the intense energy of the owner Ogimil's preambles and talks. ★Orion Beer (small bottle) ¥500 This shop has a cozy atmosphere for having a drink. There are several spice appetizers available for evening business, but I didn't have much time on this day, so I went straight to the main curry. ★Spinach Keema ¥1100 The password at Columbia Eight is "Spoon in the right hand, Shishito pepper in the left hand," but the spinach keema does not come with shishito pepper. Maybe because I'm used to the visual of it with shishito pepper, it feels like a samurai who had his topknot cut off, but it's amazing how the visual image has become established. Let's go with "Spoon in the right hand, Shishito pepper in the heart." The rice is a blend of turmeric rice and brown rice. Topped with nuts and powder spices. Along the coastline are green onions, nuts, and at the boundary of keema, there are raisins and green beans. In a simple design that looks like a flying saucer, there are finely arranged elements. A grapefruit juice to reset your palate during the meal is also included. In the absence of shishito pepper, you can feel the green appearance of spinach in the keema itself. At first, it feels light and refreshing, but as you eat more, the flavors start to layer. And towards the end, a gradually warming sensation, not spiciness but a warm feeling, similar to the basic keema. This unique dining experience with a clear time axis, this is the essence of "Columbia Eight". Everyone acknowledges it as the "legend of Osaka spice curry," yet the fact remains that no so-called "inspired" shops have emerged. That is exactly the case. ●twitter "Curry Cell": @hm_currycell

This was my first time trying spice curry in my life. I actually heard that curry is effective for hangovers, so that was my impure reason for trying it. But wow, it was delicious! I wish I had discovered it sooner. As a beginner, I chose the Keema Palak curry from the three options available - Keema, Keema Palak, and Noodle (a mix of rice and noodles). Next time, I want to try the Noodle and the "Fireworks" option (apparently you eat it while chewing on a green chili). It seems like you can also use it for izakaya-style dining, with a highball drink that goes well with curry. There are so many things to eat in Osaka!

This is a curry restaurant selected as one of the top 100 curry restaurants in 2022, located near Sakaisuji Hommachi Station in Osaka's Chuo Ward. While the main branch in Kitahama closes at 3 pm, the Sakaisuji Hommachi branch stays open until 9 pm. I visited around 8:30 pm using a subway day pass. The entrance is a bit hard to find at the back of a narrow passage, especially with ongoing exterior construction. Thanks to this, I was able to be seated without waiting. I ordered the Noodle Rice (¥1,050 tax included) which seemed enjoyable with both noodles and rice. It came with grapefruit juice automatically. After a detailed explanation, I held the lion chili in my left hand and slurped the rice flour noodles with chopsticks in my right hand. The spiciness was subtly mild at first but the spices gradually kicked in afterwards. After finishing the noodles, I added rice and egg yolk. The egg yolk made the spiciness milder, but I started sweating a bit. I refreshed with grapefruit juice and finished the meal. The service was great, and I left feeling satisfied and in a good mood back to my hotel.

Delicious curry! I'm not very knowledgeable about curry, but it was so tasty! The shishito peppers in my left hand and the spoon in my right hand guided me through the dish. Their bitterness enhanced the sweetness like salt on watermelon, bringing out the flavor of the curry. Oh, it's not spicy. It's light and smooth, and as I pondered, the spiciness and complexity of the flavor gradually intertwined. With each bite, it became more and more delicious. It's spicy, but it's delicious. I will definitely go back! ❤️

I challenged a famous spice curry restaurant near my workplace. To be honest, I'm not a fan of spice curry, but I decided to try their Noodle Rice, which they recommended for beginners. It wasn't too strong in flavor and was the best spice curry I've ever had. The grapefruit juice was refreshing and left a good impression.

Located near Koyasu in Sakaisuji Hommachi, this restaurant is one of the top 100 curry shops in Osaka. The main branch is in Kitahama, and both branches have been selected as Curry Top 100 shops. For my first visit, I ordered the "Hanabi," which is a Keema curry made extra spicy. The curry roux contains over 30 types of spices, nuts, raisins, black sesame, and more, creating a complex flavor profile with a kick of spice. The aroma of cardamom lingers in your nose as you enjoy the curry, which is accentuated by the abundance of black sesame. The recommended way to enjoy it is to take a bite of shishito pepper alongside the curry roux. As a fan of spicy food, I found the level of spiciness to be manageable, but those who prefer milder flavors can opt for the Keema curry with a soft-boiled egg and grapefruit juice on the side.

I had Keema Curry this time. It has a moderate spiciness and is delicious. The light and refreshing taste is wonderful. The combination of the curry flavor with the spiciness of the shishito pepper is exquisite. It goes well with the bitterness of the grapefruit juice. Thank you for the meal.

This is a famous curry restaurant in Sakaisuji-Honmachi. I noticed that they also have advertisements at Tokyo Station when I returned to Tokyo, so it seems like they have quite a few locations. I couldn't try their Hanabi curry on my first visit, so I went to a different location instead of the main store. Surprisingly, they also offer curry noodles and mixed rice dishes, and they even served side dishes like egg whites since it was dinner time. The food was delicious.

Long time no visit. It's been a while since I had Key Makare. The smell of spices fills the restaurant, really whets the appetite. Mini fans are placed on each table, which is a nice touch. "Hanabi" is not recommended for first-timers. I have a high tolerance for spiciness, so I decided to try it. It's definitely spicy, but not unbearably so. I have some doubts about the combination with Shishito peppers and grapefruit juice. Perhaps it's a type of performance. If I have the chance, I'll consider trying the regular type next time.

It's been a while since my last visit, and when it's hot, I always crave spicy food. So I ordered the Keema Curry. It was delicious as always ☺️ The texture was just right, and it tasted even better when eaten with shishito peppers. The grapefruit juice that came with it was a perfect match too! I was very satisfied with the Keema Curry, thank you for the meal.

This was my first time visiting the restaurant. I actually live very close by and had been curious about it for a while, so I was finally able to go. There is a famous curry restaurant on the second floor of the same building, so I feel lucky to live in Sakaisuji Hommachi! I tried the curry with shishito peppers, which was delicious. As a beginner in spicy curry, I found the level of spiciness to be just right. The bitterness of the shishito peppers, the spiciness of the curry, and the occasional sweetness of the raisins all combined in a way that felt like tasting a course meal. I enjoyed it slowly, savoring each bite.

I visited a curry restaurant that is one of the top 100 in the area at 8:30 pm and was able to sit down smoothly. I heard that the classic dish is Keema, so I ordered that. As a beginner in the curry industry, I was surprised to receive a Keema curry that was actually soup curry! I took a sip of the soup first and the spicy flavor was invigorating. They also serve a delicious grapefruit juice which helped cleanse the palate and made the meal enjoyable until the end! ☺️

Today's Curry
Today, I visited Colombia Eight Sakai-suji Hommachi store after a long time. I ordered the "Hanabi (spicy Keema)" curry. The tradition at Colombia Eight is to hold a spoon in your right hand and a shishito pepper in your left hand. It comes with grapefruit juice, which you can sip while eating. The rice served was brown rice. Once again, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Fireworks (1050 yen) This time, I tried the spicy "Fireworks". It was delicious with a spoon in my right hand, a green pepper in my left hand, and grapefruit juice. Next time, I will try the Spinach Keema Curry. It seems to be an original menu at the Sakaisuji Hommachi store, so I'm curious about it.

I visited during lunchtime on a regular day. The restaurant is located at the back of the building, giving off a hidden gem vibe. The interior has only counter seats, with a dim and very atmospheric setting. I ordered the classic Keema curry, which came with deep-fried green peppers to eat with the curry.

I entered the building and found the entrance to the restaurant at the back. The seating consisted of a counter with space for about 10 people, and the background music was pop-style. I tried the Keema curry, and the staff kindly explained to me how to eat it. I held the shishito pepper on top of the curry in my left hand and took a bite of the curry. The curry had a unique flavor from the spices, although it wasn't spicy. It felt like a "spiced curry"! The grapefruit juice that came with it was a perfect match for the curry. Even after finishing the meal, the spice flavor lingered in my mouth. If you're in Honmachi, be sure to stop by this place!

Personally, I thought the sweet raisins in the curry added a perfect balance to the spiciness!! The grapefruit juice that came with it was a perfect match too!! I also want to try the Curry Noodles!!

I visited the restaurant around 2 pm on a holiday. I was prepared for a long line as it is always crowded, but today being a holiday and a late hour, I was able to get in right away. This restaurant is one of the 100 famous curry shops in Osaka, so I carefully looked at the menu and ended up choosing the Hanabi curry! The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. The presentation was beautiful, just like the main store. I dug in and the spices spread in my mouth, followed by a pleasant spiciness. Eating it with shishito peppers created a unique experience, it was amazing! I finished the meal in no time and also had a pineapple juice. It was delicious, just like the main store! Thank you for the meal!

This restaurant is a famous spice curry shop located in Kitahama. Luckily, we arrived a bit early and were able to get in without waiting in line for lunch! (After we entered, more and more customers came in and a line started to form.)
◆Location
Very close to Honmachi Station, this area is a curry battleground!
◆Interior
Located at the back of a mixed-use building, the entrance is a bit nerve-wracking for first-timers. The interior has a bar-like atmosphere. With only 9 counter seats, it's not a spacious place, so it's better to have small bags. Maybe due to the season, there are small fans attached to the seats (laughs).
◆Order
Keema Curry 1000 yen
*Comes with grapefruit juice
◆Impressions
The password is "spoon in the right hand, shishito pepper in the left hand!" First of all, I was surprised by the appearance! The curry is surprisingly watery. It's like a soup-like curry, but the complex flavors and richness of various spices are solid. It's not very spicy, but it's incredibly delicious! Eating it while nibbling on shishito peppers makes the taste change again! In fact, shishito peppers are a must. Eating it while sandwiching the grapefruit juice that comes with it in between makes the taste very mellow. I can't believe how well grapefruit juice goes with it!! It was very delicious, and the staff's customer service was friendly, polite, and always smiling. It's a wonderful restaurant that you can see becoming famous!

Fireworks curry for 1050 yen, with an extra 100 yen for a large portion. Truly addictive curry with a strong spice flavor. I found myself eating it almost unconsciously. The generous amount of sesame seeds surprisingly complemented the dish well. As a fan of spicy food, I didn't find it too spicy. It was delicious!
