A Hat-Gu restaurant in Osaka Korean Town. Hat-Gu is a popular Korean street food that I had been curious about. I ordered the Potato Cheddar Jumbo Sausage Hat-Gu. There are multiple stores in Shin-Okubo as well, and they seem to be quite popular. There was always a line, but the food was served within about 5 minutes of ordering, so I bought a ticket and waited. The potatoes were chopped and fried, and the combination with the sausage was better than I had imagined. They sprinkle sugar on top and drizzle ketchup, which is a Korean style, and the mix of sweetness and saltiness is great! It's filling and perfect for eating on the go!

Let's try some food in Koreatown. I ordered a Cheese Kimchi Hotteok for the first time. After waiting a bit in line, they handed me a freshly baked one. It was so hot... I could barely hold it with the paper they put underneath. I couldn't eat it at all. Maybe the sweet dough would go well with kimchi and cheese, but it was too hot to enjoy. It didn't cool down even though it was summer. I think I'll try some easier-to-eat hotteok on a stick next time.

Located right at the entrance of Osaka Korea Town, this ticket machine offers a variety of options to purchase. I decided to try the Tteokbokki, which is one of my favorite Korean dishes. Today's highlight was the Tteokbokki, which consists of a large amount of chewy rice cakes coated in a bright red Gochujang sauce. It screams Korean cuisine! I purchased two servings for ¥500 each. The rice cakes were slightly thick and chewy with a good bounce when you bite into them. They had a sweet taste at first, followed by a subtle spiciness from the Gochujang. It's a snack that you can't resist and can be enjoyed as a snack or appetizer.

Osaka Korean Town Food Tour ①
Located in Osaka City, Ikuno Ward, "Johnno Hatgug Osaka Korean Town Store" is a popular spot for cheese hatgug. The ordering process is done through a ticket system, where you receive your ticket and place your order simultaneously. Once your order is ready, you can add your preferred sauce and enjoy your meal.
I tried the "Potato Mozzarella Hatgug" which had a crispy exterior with a delicious potato flavor. As you bite into it, the mozzarella cheese oozes out, creating a mouthwatering experience. It's like a bite-sized version of a cheese hatgug.
Another must-try is the "Cheese Ball," a bite-sized version of the cheese hatgug. Be careful when eating it as the inside is scorching hot. Overall, it was a delightful culinary experience.
Next stop, here I come!

Representative snack of Korean food stalls "Hotteok" is recommended for eating while walking at "Johnno Hotteok". With 15 stores in Japan, "Johnno Hotteok" is a popular shop in Shin-Okubo. Established in July 1997, Kyozan Co., Ltd. has been franchising stores, including other Korean food restaurants such as "Hanamdejijip", "Nene Chicken", and "Hanmichon". The location of the shop is an 8-minute walk from Tsuruhashi Station. On the same premises, "Nene Chicken" operated by the same company is also located, attracting young people looking for Korean food and is a well-known spot for Korean food walks nationwide. As the name suggests, the main menu is Korean-style hot dogs called "Hotteok". The "Potato Mozzarella Hotteok" is reasonably priced at 480 yen and is popular among young people for its SNS appeal. There are also sweet dessert-like items such as "Honey Hotteok" that are popular mainly among women. In addition, items such as Tteokbokki and Hotteok are also sold, so you can enjoy a wide range of Korean street food menus. When you want to eat Korean gourmet food while walking, be sure to stop by.

I came to Koreatown during my trip to Osaka. Even on a weekday, there were young people lining up. I tried buying a hotteok and hotteok. You buy a food ticket type. It's good for snacking on junk food, but I don't want to fill up on this during my trip lol. Thank you for the meal.

I couldn't find what I was looking for at the vending machine, so I quickly changed my mind and tried the one with potatoes and purple sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were heavy, so I only had one and gave the rest away, haha. The one with potatoes was good, with the cheese stretching out, but I wish I had put a little more ketchup on it.

I came to Koreatown for a food tour. My son ordered the Potato Mozzarella Cheese Hotdog, and I took a bite as well. They asked if we wanted sugar on it, and ketchup and mustard were self-serve. The potato was crispy and delicious. I prefer the dough to be a bit chewier.

Went for a casual stroll in Tsuruhashi and Ikuno Koreatown with my partner, eating and trying out the Cheese Hat Potato for 480 yen. I never thought I would eat this, but it was freshly fried and hot when I tried it (lol). It stretches and looks good, just as expected. It was delicious, a bit junk food-like. The crispy potato chips around it were tasty too. Long live Korea! Thanks for the meal.

I arrived at Koreatown for a food tour! I'm excited to try different foods. First stop is Jonno Hot Dog. I'm in line but it's moving quickly since it's for takeout. I couldn't decide quickly enough and had to rush to take a photo when it was my turn. I got the classic mozzarella hot dog for 380 yen. I bought a drink from a nearby vending machine and enjoyed my hot dog standing up. It was chewy and delicious! The cheese stretches nicely and the rice flour makes it light and not too heavy. I want to try a different version next time. It was a great meal!

I have been checking Tabelog for over 10 years, but I don't really remember seeing reviews of Koreatown. In the past, Koreatown didn't have the image of being a tourist spot. I visited Ikuno Koreatown, which is next to Tsuruhashi Koreatown. It's also called the "Shin-Okubo of the West". When I came here, I was surprised!! It might be bigger than Kobe's Chinatown? (If you include Tsuruhashi, it's probably bigger). Apparently, Shin-Okubo always has long lines and you can't get into the shops, but here, there aren't really long lines on weekdays. The customers seem to be high school and college girls, as well as foreign tourists. There are various shops and you can immerse yourself in a foreign atmosphere. No passport or airplane ticket required (laughs). Quite enjoyable.♪♪

The children wanted to eat, so I ordered the simplest mozzarella hot dog. I paid at the ticket machine and then handed the ticket to the staff. They made it from scratch right in front of me. It took about 4 minutes to fry. The hot dog was served piping hot. I added sugar and ketchup myself. The first bite was a surprise because it was so hot, but the cheese stretched a lot. The children were delighted. However, it seemed high in calories. Apart from mozzarella, there were various options like sausage and sweet potato fries.

On my day off, I decided to visit a popular shop with long lines! It was my first time at a hot dog specialty store, so I was excited. I went right after opening on a weekday, so there were only about 2 people in line ahead of me. The item I tried this time was the Potato Mozzarella Rice Hot Dog for 450 yen, which is the most popular item. You order from a ticket machine. Once you get your ticket, the order is automatically sent to the kitchen, so you don't need to show it to the staff. While waiting in line, I waited for my order to be ready. It was not crowded, so it was completed in about 5 minutes! There are sugar, ketchup, and mustard near the pick-up counter, so you can dip them as you like. There is seating space, so I ate there. It was crispy, fluffy, and the cheese stretches! (It's like the ones you see in videos, haha) Be careful because a lot of sugar falls down below! As expected from a specialty store, it was delicious. Recommended for those who like sweet and salty flavors! Freshly fried is the best. The seating space was spacious. I could also drink water. There are various types, so next time I want to try the one with sausage (^-^) It's quite filling, so don't forget to consult with your stomach when eating out ✨

The dish I enjoyed this time was the Potato Mozzarella & Cheddar Rice Hotdog. Unlike the American hotdogs commonly sold in Japan, this one is thick. It can be a bit difficult to eat with sugar, ketchup, mustard, etc. on top, but it's delicious so I end up buying it every time. It's filled with plenty of cheese inside, and when you take a bite, the cheese stretches out like a bridge between the hotdog and the potato mozzarella & cheddar rice. Jonno Hotdog has stores at both the entrance and exit of Koreatown, and it's always popular with people lining up. The staff, a cool Korean who speaks a bit of hesitant Japanese, taking orders made it a bit exciting. It was delicious again this time. Thank you for the meal. I tried it for the first time. In one word, it's delicious! The cheese dog has cheese inside and is deep-fried with a coating, so I thought it might be very salty because of the cheese, or greasy because it's fried. However, it's completely different - not salty, not greasy at all. I couldn't help but look inside the cheese a few times. What's fun is that you can season it yourself after receiving it fried, like adding sugar or dipping it in ketchup, you can customize it as you like. This shop has a clean and spacious seating area on the second floor, where you can sit and eat what you bought on the first floor, so you can enjoy your meal leisurely. They also have a menu and serve draft beer, so adults can enjoy it with alcohol. I want to go eat there again.

Today I went on a food tour in Tsuruhashi Koreatown ✨ First up was Cheese Hotteok! I usually only have it with ketchup but... I decided to try it with sugar (*´ω`*) I divided it into three flavors but... I put too much sugar and ended up feeling sick. I need to be careful with the ratio next time haha.

I went alone on a weekday morning to [Mozzarella Rice Hatdog], a familiar Korean-style cheese dog. I tried it with plenty of sugar, ketchup, and mustard. When I took a bite, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't super hot. The mozzarella cheese inside did stretch nicely, but it was only warm, not piping hot. The taste itself was not bad, but I thought it would be even tastier if it was hot. A bit of a letdown. Since it was a weekday, there were only about 5 people in line. I was able to buy it quickly, but it felt like it was fried a little while ago. I wonder if you can get it freshly fried when there's a long line? I might try going on a weekend next time.

This is a shop in Osaka's Ikuno Koreatown where you can enjoy hotteok and hot dogs. Koreatown is bustling with young people, especially women. It may feel a bit awkward for a man to line up alone, as my wife and I did. On this day, I decided to try the hot dog instead of the hotteok, which I have had before in Korea. I had tried a hot dog from a different stall once, but it wasn't freshly fried and didn't taste that great, so I wanted to try a freshly fried one from a proper shop. The menu mainly offers options like sausage-filled or cheese-filled hot dogs with either mozzarella or cheddar, and you can choose to have the batter coated with potato. I went for the most popular choice - the mozzarella hot dog with potato batter. After a short wait, the freshly fried hot dog arrived, generously coated with sugar. I didn't know they put so much sugar on it. I decided to coat half of it with sugar and the other half with plenty of ketchup and mustard on top. The hot dog was crispy, with gooey cheese inside. It was delicious with a sweet and savory flavor. Just be careful not to burn your mouth as it's really hot. Overall, it was tasty, and I realized that freshly fried hot dogs from a specialized shop are much better than those sold at random stalls. It was a satisfying meal.

While shopping with friends, we found this new store where you can cool off inside while enjoying your food. You can order takeout on the 1st floor and bring it up to the 2nd floor, or you can order directly at the counter on the 2nd floor. The staff are all Korean, and the atmosphere inside is just like in a Korean drama. On that hot day, we ordered a milk shaved ice with tapioca for 680 yen. It was huge and filled with lots of tapioca! I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it because of the size, but the fluffy shaved ice was so good that I managed to eat it all. With plenty of tapioca, my stomach was full too. This shaved ice is definitely going to be a hit! It was the most delicious shaved ice I've had this season. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the Koreatown "Gokotu Shopping Street" in Ikuno Ward, Osaka♪ There are lots of cute and affordable items here♡ Before shopping, let's do a little food tasting~♪(* ॑꒳ ॑* ) Both my friend and I tried the "Hot Dog" for the first time at Hattog✨ What, just now? Don't say that haha. We heard it's delicious from my daughter❢ It seems you need to buy a ticket from the vending machine first. Cheddar Jumbo Sausage Rice Hot Dog 480 yen (tax included) A Korean guy puts cheese and other toppings on the sausage and fries it. It arrived piping hot! You can add granulated sugar, ketchup, and mustard according to your preference❢( ´͈ ᗨ `͈ )◞ The cheese didn't stretch as much as I expected, but it was delicious~! It felt like eating a slightly fancy American hot dog haha. It was tasty♬ Bon appétit(*˘︶˘人)
