I used to frequent DD House in Umeda decades ago, but when I visited recently, I was surprised to see that the restaurant had changed significantly. It was my first time visiting, and I mainly had sashimi and conger eel. The dishes were fresh and reasonably delicious. The only downside was that the air conditioning was too strong.

The staff were all very kind. Despite being young, they were always smiling and happily brought us one draft beer after another during our all-you-can-drink session. They were busy, but never showed it. Thank you so much!

I passed by DDHOUSE at lunchtime, so I decided to have lunch here. I went downstairs and chose Gonsuke because it looked delicious. I had the carefully selected "Gonsuke set meal" for 1200 yen, limited to 5 meals per day. I added a Line friend, followed them, and got a 100 yen discount. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice, so I definitely want to come back to this restaurant!

I went to Osaka. During lunchtime, I visited "Gonpachi Umeda" at DD House for the first time in a while. I started with a highball to quench my thirst. Intrigued by the limited availability of only five servings a day, I ordered the "Gonpachi Special Set". It included meat, sashimi, tempura, side dishes, rice, and miso soup. The large bowl of miso soup was nice. The rice was Koshihikari, and it was delicious. Usually, lunchtime in Saitama is rushed, but in Osaka, I was able to relax during lunchtime. DD House. It's been about 20 years since I last visited. Three colleagues and I went to the basement floor here. The basement floor still had a stream flowing. I remember seeing many people who got drunk and fell in love with this place when I was young. We had a reservation for 5:00 pm. We arrived 15 minutes early. The person who seemed like the manager (around his late 50s) greeted us, but said, "We open at 5:00 pm. You can't come in yet." He seemed a bit blunt... We waited until 5:00 pm to enter. The seats were all separated, giving a private room-like feeling. The interior had a bit of a high-class feel, which was nice. We ordered some draft beer and were about to cheers when the same person who seemed like the manager said, "Today is a 2-hour time limit." He said it without any change in expression, and no friendliness at all. We were all surprised, thinking, "Now?!" The food is mainly seafood. The dishes we ordered were generally delicious. That day, they had a "Squid Feast from Yobuko," which was fresh and satisfying. The female staff who served us seemed to be working hard to provide good service. I found a calm izakaya in Umeda and visited it twice because the atmosphere was nice. The seafood and creative dishes were of high quality, and the staff provided polite service, making the dining experience pleasant. Since it is located in Umeda, sometimes I run into large groups having a drinking party. At those times, the contrast between the quiet interior and the loud conversations can be a bit of a concern.

I heard that you can eat the representative local dish of Saga Prefecture, "Ikizaki Squid," at a reasonable price, so I came to Gonnosuke in the basement of DD House in Umeda. I came here for lunch to have Ikizaki Squid, but when I didn't order alcohol, they brought out appetizers. They kept pushing for additional orders, which was a bit off-putting. The Ikizaki Squid set meal included squid somen, salt-grilled squid, and tempura, and it was quite delicious, but it ended up costing almost 4,000 yen. It felt like the bubble era all over again. Come to think of it, DD House was built during the peak of the bubble era. I paid the bill and I probably won't be coming back for lunch. The "Gonosuke Gozen" is synonymous with a high-class meal, and the word "limited" is like magic, making you order the most expensive item without hesitation. The Gonosuke Gozen is as extravagant as its name suggests, with only five servings available each day. Imagine it being carried in on a tray with no space left, that's the spirit of the name. The sashimi of tuna and yellowtail comes with wasabi and soy sauce. The tempura includes shrimp, conger eel, green pepper, and sweet potato with tempura dipping sauce. The ginger pork is enjoyed with cabbage. In between, there's mentaiko rice, cold tofu, and pickles, followed by a refreshing miso soup. This satisfying meal can be enjoyed with a sense of elegance. If you visit after 1 pm, you may even receive complimentary coffee or tea. Gonosuke Umeda.

We had dinner with our family of three at a cozy Japanese izakaya located on the basement floor of DD House. The sashimi, horse sashimi, yakitori, etc., all had a rich flavor. The oden was also delicious. We enjoyed four servings of tasty sake that paired well with the dishes. The staff were generally polite and the timing of the dishes being served was just right. I recommend this Japanese izakaya.

I started wandering around Kinokuniya bookstore, but eventually found my way to the restaurant. I'm glad I went! Even though I wasn't hungry, the mushroom tempura was unbelievably delicious and totally hit the spot. I ended up getting seconds (laughs).

The food was delicious. The menu wasn't very extensive, but there was a wide selection of drinks. I had some errands nearby during the weekday afternoon and was able to find some hidden gems from the daily recommendations. I highly recommend the squid from Yobuko. There are semi-private rooms available, and the convenient location is very handy. The variety of sake was also delicious!

I chose the ultimate course for 4800 yen with a reservation from Ikkyu, and used it for a girls' gathering of three people. We added a 500 yen option for a 30-minute extension of free drinks, and they provided us with a semi-private room, so we were able to enjoy our drinks and conversation leisurely. The individually served course had a great variety of dishes and a good amount of food, which made everyone happy. The three appetizers of tuna sashimi, pike conger, and the next dish of steamed hamo had a seasonal touch. The main steak exceeded my expectations in tenderness, and they even served pork shabu-shabu! The pork was moist and tender, unlike the dry image of pork in small pots often seen at hot spring inns. It was delicious! The hot pot also came with udon noodles, so we were full. The mini-pressed sushi served in between was a nice touch, and the shrimp tempura was impressive. The cost performance is excellent here! We had plenty of drinks, and the staff was attentive in taking our refill orders at the right timing. As it is affiliated with the Esukaiya Club, the restaurant has a more Japanese traditional atmosphere than a typical izakaya, and the staff are well-mannered. I would definitely come back here for the same course. I found a great restaurant with good cost performance and delicious food. Thank you for the meal! ☺️

I was not expecting much from the extravagant year-end party course, but it turned out to be surprisingly good. Starting with a delicious sashimi platter, followed by a hot pot dish and a lamp steak, all the dishes were tasty. Perhaps due to the discount during the pandemic, the 8000 yen course was only 4800 yen. I was satisfied.

Due to the coronavirus, everywhere feels empty, and this restaurant is located at the back of the underground floor of Umeda DD House. Even at 6:30 pm, there were only a few groups, and it was quite empty. We started with a highball and draft beer. Three appetizers were served. They were okay. The homemade potato salad had cucumbers in it and was a bit bland. We ordered the "Hakata-style squid" dish. Sashimi and shredded squid were served. We were advised to eat the sashimi with soy sauce and the shredded squid with dashi broth. Both tasted like squid, just prepared differently. Tempura and grilled squid were served later. The tempura was delicious, and the grilled squid was the best dish of the day. We squeezed lemon over it. We ended up spending more than expected due to drinking quite a bit. Thank you for the meal.

I used this izakaya from a little after 9pm until the last train on Hankyu line, which was about 2 and a half hours. The seating was all separated, and the menu offered a variety of dishes including vegetables, seafood, and meat. We ordered karashi renkon, three kinds of horse sashimi, negi and agedashi tofu, and a trio of yakitori. The food wasn't extremely fresh, but the cost performance was good. What surprised me was that despite the separated seating, we had to speak loudly to have a conversation with the person next to us due to the noise level in the restaurant. I couldn't bear it, so I mentioned it to the staff, and they changed our seats, but the issue wasn't resolved. Also, even though our new seats were almost enclosed by walls, there was no call bell, and the staff didn't come to our table often, so we couldn't order additional dishes after changing seats. I realized that this is the atmosphere of this restaurant, so I will try to avoid using it in the future.

I declined a business social gathering and was recommended this restaurant by a friend. I waited a bit without a reservation on the night before the long weekend, but I wanted to eat the sashimi of squid from Yobuko (2480 yen) so I came here. The appetizer (known as "otōshi" in Kansai) for 500 yen might be a bit expensive, but it's okay because it's a vinegar dish of eel. The body is served as sashimi with tempura for the ear part and salt-grilled for the tentacles. You can enjoy every part of the squid without leaving anything behind. It was written as serving 2-3 people, but one serving is quite satisfying. If you were to eat this in Yobuko, Saga, it would likely cost over 3000 yen. The Tonpeiyaki (580 yen) is also a fluffy and gentle omelette soba. It has a tiger pattern appearance and a sweet taste. I only ordered an appetizer, 2 dishes, and a drink, but all the dishes were carefully prepared. The restaurant was busy with salarymen, office ladies, and couples throughout. The staff were efficient and friendly, and I would like to visit again.

When I went to Osaka for work, I wanted to have a solo drink early on, so I came here. They were open early and it was okay to drink alone in a private room. The seasonal menu was good and the food was delicious. It was nice to be able to work on my laptop while drinking in a private room.
