I bought Ajari mochi at Daimaru Umeda store. I bought both for souvenirs and for home use. I went there right after opening because they often sell out by noon. These mochi are very chewy and the dough is moist. The sweet bean paste has an elegant sweetness typical of Kyoto. I will bring it as a souvenir and everyone will be pleased. It is a highly recommended item with a high repeat rate.

In the evening at Daimaru Umeda store. Every time I went, all I saw was a sold out sign, but suddenly, I saw someone standing there so I approached and found the product. Since I had never seen the product before, I wondered if I would ever buy it in the future. What a lucky find! In a case for individual sale, there were many products lined up. Motsukiya, which has been continuing since the Edo period for 165 years, has only four items on the menu. Among them, the Ajari Mochi is very popular. It is a half-cooked confectionery with a unique texture, with Tamba Dainagon red bean paste tightly packed inside the moist and chewy Motsukiya secret mochi dough. It has a casual feel that you can hold in your hand, but the moist skin stops you from eating it all in one bite, giving it a noble mouthfeel. It is elegant. Since it is not easy to come by, I savored it slowly. I went to see it again another day. It seems that you have a chance to buy it around 6 pm. Previously, there were no staff in the store, but recently there have been staff there.

My family bought this for me when they went on a business trip. I was happy to eat it again since I couldn't buy it at the Isetan Kyoto exhibition a while ago. The chewy texture and the perfect combination of red bean paste are really good. After eating it, I felt like going to Kyoto. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. What I ate: Ajari mochi *Price unknown as it was purchased by my family.

I visited a Japanese confectionery store at Daimaru Umeda on my day off. I bought 2 pieces of Ajari mochi! The texture of the dough was chewy and very delicious (*^^*) I've liked it for a long time, so I'll buy it again when I find it. Thank you for the meal♪

It is well-known that Ajari mochi is a famous Kyoto confectionery. I was looking for souvenirs as I was leaving the next day, and Ajari mochi was originally on my shopping list. It doesn't last long, so it's convenient that they sell it individually. Ajari mochi is truly delicious.

It is so popular that it sells out if you don't go in the morning. Ajari Mochi has a texture like fresh maple leaves. It is very delicious when paired with moderately sweet red bean paste. It's no wonder it's ranked 2nd in the national souvenir rankings.

It has become smaller than before, but the dough is chewy and the filling is just the right amount of sweet red bean paste, making it delicious.

I visited the department store "Daimaru Umeda" directly connected to Osaka Station to buy souvenirs from Osaka. They have a wide range of products from the Osaka area. I found a famous Kyoto treat called Ajari Mochi. It costs 108 yen per piece. The mochi has a chewy skin with sweet red bean paste inside. It definitely tastes like traditional mochi and is deliciously sweet. I really liked it.

After a big year-end party with fellow reviewers in the Kansai area, we stopped by here at Barilax The Garden Umeda. Whenever I come to Osaka, I make sure to stop by here, but usually in the evening, the Adzuki bean mochi is sold out. This time, it was 3:30 pm, so I peeked in and they still had some left. I was so happy and bought five Adzuki bean mochi! The Adzuki bean mochi has a chewy texture with a mildly sweet bean paste that is so delicious. It's definitely worth the price! I love it. Next time I come to Osaka, I want to make sure to stop by here without giving up!

In Kyoto, there is a famous sweet called "Ajari Mochi". I had never tried it before, but I heard that it is sold at the basement sweets section of Daimaru Umeda store, so I went to check it out. Since it was my first time, I bought 5 pieces for a taste test. It looks like a flat manju (sweet bun), but when I split it in half, I found that it was chewy and the sweet red bean paste inside was delicately sweet. The chewy skin goes well with it! I think it would be delicious with a cup of green tea. It is said to be a traditional sweet with a long history, but I had never heard of it until recently. Whenever someone asks me what to buy as a souvenir from Kyoto, I will confidently recommend "Ajari Mochi" without hesitation. Thank you for the delicious treat!

I went to Daimaru Umeda to buy Ajari mochi, which I had found very delicious when I visited Kyoto before October 18, 2015. This time, I bought a pack of 5. The Ajari mochi costs 540 yen for 5 pieces. It looks like a regular steamed bun, with Tanba red bean paste inside. The texture is like a mix between mochi and dorayaki. The red bean paste inside has a simple and calming taste. The price is reasonable, which makes me happy. Thank you for the meal. Ajari Mochi Honpo, Mangetsu Daimaru Umeda Store, 3-1-1 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka, B1F West side, 06-6343-1231.

Occasionally, I buy "Ajyarimochi" and I love its chewy texture. My mother loves it too. This traditional sweet has been around since the Taisho era. The name "Ajyarimochi" refers to a high priest, and the shape of the sweet, with a raised center, is said to resemble the net hat worn by priests during their ascetic training on Mt. Hiei, where they would eat mochi to stave off hunger. Made with glutinous rice and filled with adzuki bean paste, this semi-sweet confection has a moist skin and a light bean paste flavor that is very satisfying. Priced at 100 yen each, it's quite reasonable considering the current high prices of traditional Japanese sweets. Recently, there have been long lines at stores in Kyoto, but in Osaka, the department stores are less crowded. If you're craving "Ajyarimochi," the Osaka department stores might be a good option. But of course, most people wouldn't go that far just for a sweet treat. So, if you feel like having some, head to Osaka's Daimaru or Hankyu department stores!

I received a gift of Ajari Mochi from Ajari Mochi Honpo Manketsu at Daimaru Umeda. The Ajari Mochi is like a mini dorayaki with a brown outer layer that is moist and chewy like mochi. Inside, there is sweet red bean paste. The first time I tried it, I was blown away by the soft and delicious texture. The sweetness of the red bean paste is just right, creating a refined balance with the outer layer. This would make a great gift for anyone, as it is a classy Kyoto confection. The ingredients include sugar, red beans, rice flour, eggs, water candy, and trehalose. It's amazing how these simple ingredients can create such a wonderful Japanese sweet. Thank you for the meal!

I visited this ultra-long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto, which was founded in 1856, on January 3, 2015, at 2:50 PM. The main store is located on Imadegawa in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, and they have also opened stores in Tokyo at Isetan Shinjuku and Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi. Despite the ongoing redevelopment in Umeda, the Daimaru Umeda store expanded in 2011 and continues to thrive. Within this bustling area, this shop stands out for its focus on a small selection of traditional Japanese sweets. Although the number of products is limited, the atmosphere is truly unique. It exudes the essence of a renowned Kyoto establishment. At first glance, the sweets may seem ordinary, but once you taste the Ajari Mochi priced at 108 yen, you will be pleasantly surprised. The texture of this confection, created in the Taisho era, is truly exceptional and embodies the essence of Kyoto's traditional sweets. The Ajari Mochi at Daimaru Umeda store is delicious. This is a must-visit ultra-long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto!

On December 30, 2014 at 5:00 PM, my son's classmate Y brought a visit and brought a gift of "Ajari Mochi" as a greeting for the New Year. This Ajari Mochi, said to have originated in the late Edo period, is a renowned confectionery that often ranks in the "Top 10 Kyoto Souvenirs". The skin is made of mochi rice, chewy when bitten into. It is filled with sweet red bean paste, which is perfectly balanced in sweetness and leaves a lingering taste. Even though I don't usually eat cakes, I do enjoy traditional Japanese sweets occasionally. Y brought two of these Ajari Mochi for me. Ajari; a title given to those who complete the ascetic practice of "Sen-nichi Kairyou" where one walks approximately 40,000 kilometers over a period of 7 years. Sakai Yuuya Dai Ajari has completed this practice twice. Sakai Dai Ajari was a significant figure in my life.

The other day when I went to Kyoto for autumn leaf viewing, I forgot to buy Adzuki bean paste mochi. The first time I bought it was at Ajari Mochi Honpo Full Moon Tourist Department Cube Store. When I visited Osaka Station, I would often stop by this store, but since it was usually in the evening, they were often sold out... In addition to this store, you can also buy it at Ajari Mochi Honpo Full Moon Hankyu Umeda Main Store near Osaka Station, where you can also meet the character "Sakura Panda" from Daimaru Matsuzakaya. The store is located in the basement where various Japanese sweets shops are lined up, and this store is the only one with a little bit of a line at the Japanese sweets corner. It was around 12:00 this time, so I didn't have to worry about them being sold out, and I bought 5 Adzuki bean paste mochi for 108 yen each. Adzuki bean paste mochi... the chewy skin with a subtle sweetness and elegant bean paste inside is very delicious. It's a simple confectionery without any additives, which is really nice! Japanese traditional sweets, wagashi, are wonderful, aren't they? By the way, there was a confectionery that looked like yokan in the showcase, but it seemed to be honey-preserved Kyoto Nishiki beans. It also looked very delicious. On top of the showcase, there were roses and 5-piece and 10-piece sets lined up, and the prices were very reasonable, which was also attractive. Actually, I bought one piece separately, so I thought they would just put it in the same paper bag as the 5-piece set, but they kindly wrapped each one individually in the same paper bag and said, "Thank you for waiting!" It was quite polite. I will probably go buy it again, but I would like them to open a store at Kobe Daimaru, which is relatively easy for me to visit.
