Today's lunch was at "Akadori Sumibi Yaki Nagatomo-ya" in Osaka, Sakaisuji Honmachi. I noticed a new restaurant in this area. They have a menu that looks delicious, so I decided to try it out. I had the "Momo Yaki Chahan" (660 yen) with extra-large portion (110 yen). It's not just regular fried rice, but it has "momo yaki" (grilled chicken thigh) in it. The restaurant has a long and narrow layout with counter seats for solo diners. After a short wait, my dish arrived. It was huge! The portion was really generous. The dish was piled up high when served, but it collapsed a bit while being carried to the table. At first, I thought the black thing was mushrooms, but upon closer inspection, it was chicken thigh meat. What is the red thing at the bottom? It looks like spicy miso. Alright, time to dig in. Mmm, it's delicious! The combination of fried rice and the smoky aroma of grilled chicken thigh is amazing. And the red miso-like paste is probably doubanjiang. It goes well with the dish. It's not just tasty, but the crispy rice and chewy chicken meat complement each other perfectly. It's so good! I could get addicted to this. The miso soup was average. Finished! Looking at the menu, I want to try all the "momo yaki" dishes, especially the "garlic momo yaki," although the smell might be an issue for regular office workers. But now, with masks being mandatory, maybe I can try it next time. The restaurant is located near the popular udon shop "Honmachi Seimenjo Main Store." On this day, I was out with my subordinate for drinks when suddenly it started pouring rain. I remembered that a nearby izakaya had turned into a different restaurant, so we decided to check it out. It had become a charcoal grill restaurant. Inside, there were four men who seemed to be office workers, and we sat at a table near the kitchen. The layout of the restaurant was almost exactly the same as before! We started with our usual beer cheers and nibbled on the appetizers while ordering various dishes. The charcoal-grilled chicken comes in 200g portions, with a half option of 120g. We tried the Negi momo yaki in half portion, which had a generous amount of green onions on top. It had a nice texture and went well with the ponzu sauce drizzled underneath. You can watch the grilling process at the counter, with the fire burning brightly. The dashimaki tamago was quite large and slightly on the sweet side. The avocado cheese spring rolls were served with a sweet chili sauce typical of Asian cuisine. Although we were only two people that day, I would love to come back with a larger group to share and enjoy more of the charcoal-grilled dishes. Since it's close by, I definitely plan on visiting again. Thank you for the meal!

Recently, takeout for bento boxes and side dishes has been popular. This shop offers takeout for both lunch and dinner, which is convenient. Their specialty is basic and Kyushu charcoal-grilled dishes, which are highly recommended. Personally, I like the miso flavor, but all of them are delicious. The chicken's fatty flavor goes well with shochu. The lunch grilled chicken fried rice bento also has a generous portion and is very satisfying.

Charcoal-grilled chicken is usually blackened, but I tried the miso-grilled option this time. It was my first time trying Miyazaki-style miso-grilled chicken. The taste was a good mix of miso richness and the savory flavor of grilled chicken. It might go well with sake because of the miso flavor. The chicken had a satisfying texture, and the side dish, which varies each time, had a unique taste with something like myoga adding a different accent to the meal.

I revisited a restaurant that I used to like for their local chicken grill. This time, I ordered the Kuro 200g chicken grill. Although the Aka (red) chicken has a nice spiciness, adding some shichimi spice to the Kuro chicken made it just as delicious. The appetizer dish was different from last time, but it was satisfying and had a good portion. It was nice to have chicken dishes served as appetizers. It was quite cold that day, so the old-fashioned stove was working at full capacity. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I received a request from a new restaurant review to visit a place that recently opened serving chicken charcoal-grilled dishes. Despite the cold weather, the restaurant was warm thanks to a traditional stove. I started with a Ruby cocktail and the appetizer, which was a chicken and egg dish with a satisfying texture. I tried the specialty dish called "Akayaki," which had a spicy kick compared to the regular black-grilled chicken. The cooking process involved impressive flames from the charcoal grill. The half-size portion was generous, with plenty of cabbage and green onions sandwiched in between. It was delicious and reminded me of the tasty charcoal-grilled dishes I used to enjoy. I also ordered the Chicken Nanban, which was served in a large portion and topped with a flavorful onion and egg tartar sauce. It was a satisfying meal, and I even enjoyed the Highball drink.
