On a Sunday afternoon in February 2023, I visited this particular Sukiya location by myself for lunch. This Sukiya is located at the north exit of JR Hachioji Station. It is situated on a major street in Hachioji, the large Kusanamiki Street that extends north from the north exit (the street where Yodobashi Camera is located). It is only a few minutes' walk from the station. The interior of the restaurant is typical of Sukiya, with counter seats and square table seats. I sat at a table seat and ordered the "Gyudon lunch set" (tax included 550 yen) using the touch panel on the table. It comes with miso soup and salad, which was a nice set. I topped it with shichimi togarashi and pickled ginger from the table, and enjoyed it.

Lately, they have been serving a lot of Cheese Beef Bowls, but before that trend, I used to love the Spicy Pickled Cabbage Mentaiko Mayo Beef Bowl. I had it again after a long time and it was delicious with its spicy kick.

Today, I went for a food adventure in Hachioji. I skipped breakfast and hopped on the train, so by the time I arrived at Hachioji Station, I was really hungry. Let's head to my usual spot. This time, the chosen restaurant is Sukiya Hachioji Higashicho Branch. There was an interesting menu sign displayed outside the store. Let's give it a try, as I am a food blogger. I tried the Mushroom Pepperoncino Beef Bowl for 520 yen. Before digging in, I had no idea what to expect in terms of taste, which was exciting. First, I tried the toppings. Oh, it really tastes like pepperoncino! The spicy kick from the chili, the strong garlic flavor, the overall oily texture, and the various mushrooms made it a dish that could even be paired with pasta. As for the combination with the beef bowl, it surprisingly worked well. Sukiya's beef bowl itself has a versatility to accommodate various toppings. It was delicious. The contract with the Hachioji office is coming to an end soon. How many more times will I be able to eat here? Well, thank you for the meal.

Today, I had my weekly roadwork in Hachioji. Since June, I started working twice a week at another branch, so for the time being, I am juggling three different locations along with Nakano. As usual, the Chuo Line Rapid Service in the morning was packed, and by the time I arrived at Hachioji Station, I was exhausted. I had some time before starting work and I was hungry, so I decided to have breakfast. This time, I chose Sukiya Hachioji Higashimachi Store. When I entered, my favorite window table was available, so I was lucky. I ordered the limited-time item that was being promoted outside the store. I love unique items like this. The dish was called "Spicy Tomato-Reta Gyudon (Regular) for 500 yen." It was served on a large shallow dish, with Gyudon topped with crispy lettuce, red bell peppers, bacon, spicy tomato sauce, and Parmesan cheese. The visual presentation reminded me of tacos. Now, onto the taste test. I first tried the toppings before moving on to the Gyudon. It was spicier than I expected, which I welcomed. The salsa sauce had a taste that I found addictive. Then, I dug into the Gyudon, which was also delicious with the tomato sauce adding a unique twist to the usual Gyudon flavor. Sukiya is great at bringing out the potential of Gyudon by experimenting with toppings. I have tried various toppings before, and personally, I enjoy the spicy ones like garlic sprout Gyudon, similar to this one. I look forward to trying new items in the future. Ah, it was delicious. Today, I had my regular road trip in Hachioji. As I have mentioned before, I have changed jobs multiple times and do not have any retirement funds. Therefore, I have to work part-time jobs for about 4 years until I start receiving a pension. In March, I only had one day off. I feel grateful to have work, so I travel to various places. Looking through my photo files, I found pictures from last spring when I did a day labor job in Ikebukuro. The food I ate there was very delicious and left a strong impression on me. This year, the same dish was released, so I went to try it again. The restaurant I visited this time was Sukiya Hachioji Higashimachi branch. I was seated at my favorite window table. I ordered the "Japanese-style Onisara Gyudon" for 480 yen. Last year, it had the prefix "Shaki" in its name, which is not important, but the fact that it is now 20 yen cheaper is fantastic! The dish arrived quickly. On top of the beef bowl, there were plenty of onion slices. They looked very crispy. I tried the onion slices, which were cold and had a refreshing texture on my lips. The combination of bonito broth and onions cannot taste bad. It was very welcome. Next, I tried the beef bowl. The heat of the beef, which I usually don't think about, was warming my cold lips. Today, I worked as a day laborer in Hachioji. The Chuo Line Rapid Service is usually not crowded after 8:30 am, so I can usually find a seat. Whether I get a seat or not makes a big difference in terms of physical exhaustion. There are rumors that Green Cars will be introduced on the Chuo Line soon, so I might consider using them when I'm tired. As usual, I only had warm soup for breakfast before heading to work. My wife prepared about 10 different soups in the kitchen, and I choose one based on my mood for the day. Feeling good, I arrived at Hachioji Station with a growling stomach. I head straight to a place where I can quickly satisfy my hunger. This time, I went to the restaurant [Sukiya Hachioji Higashimachi Store]. When I entered, it was 100% men, all eating beef bowls in the morning, which makes sense. Simply eating a beef bowl wouldn't be interesting or make a good story, so I ordered something I hadn't tried before. - Wasabi Yukke Beef Bowl 480 yen The dish arrived promptly. On the tray, there was a beef bowl, grated yam, and a small packet of wasabi. I started by trying the plain beef bowl. I believe in enjoying the original taste without adding things like chili pepper right away. The basic beef bowl was good. Delicious. I asked the waitress for hot tea, and she quickly brought it, which I appreciated. Next, I poured the grated yam over the beef bowl. The sticky texture of the yam slowly covered the beef bowl, which was a delightful sight. Then, I added wasabi from the small packet on top of the yam. The green color of the wasabi stood out against the white yam. Grated yam may give a healthy impression, but that is probably due to its natural viscosity. Once again, the addition of grated yam to the beef bowl transformed it into a healthy menu, and the sharp scent of wasabi added an accent to the dish. I felt so happy! I mixed the grated yam with the beef bowl using my chopsticks, and the combination improved the texture, making it easy to swallow. I finished it in no time, feeling surprisingly satisfied in my stomach. Ah, it was really delicious. I've decided to continue enjoying beef bowl toppings in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Usually, I would stop at a McDonald's to kill time, but on this particular day, I couldn't resist my hunger and decided to eat properly. This time, the restaurant was "Sukiya Hachioji Higashicho Store", which regularly introduces interesting menu items, making it a valuable find for a food blogger like me who often struggles with content. The sign outside displayed cute characters mixed with enticing dishes. I entered the store and took a seat at a table. Limited Revival: Foodie Menma Gyudon (Regular) 500 yen As soon as the bowl was placed in front of me, it was almost entirely covered with Menma, each about 1 cm wide and just over 6 cm long. In the center, there was a drizzle of eating chili oil and a topping of green onions. Quite an impressive presentation. First, I picked up a piece of Menma and tried it. It was a bit soft, so it didn't have much texture, but it definitely tasted like Menma. With this as a side dish, it's guaranteed to go well with alcohol. Next, I tackled the Menma drizzled with eating chili oil. When I put it in my mouth, the crunchy garlic chips in the chili oil hit my teeth, making a sound. It really was wild. Then I moved on to the Gyudon. I wondered how it would taste with the Menma. Surprisingly, the combination was delicious. Breaking up the Menma drizzled with eating chili oil and mixing it with the Gyudon added a spicy kick that enhanced the flavor even more. It was delicious. I washed it down with the hot tea I ordered at the beginning, topped with some ginger on the table, and finished it all in one go. Ah, it was so tasty. This time, it's a limited-time revival menu, but I think it's a wonderful idea to enjoy Gyudon in various ways. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, in Hachioji, I had my regular routine. It was so busy that I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack. It was not good for my health at my age, but I managed to get through it. What saved me was that my work finished in the morning. As soon as I felt relieved, my parasympathetic nervous system kicked in, and a strong feeling of hunger hit me. (Oh no, I can't take it anymore! I need to eat something!) At times like this, I am grateful for fast food restaurants, so I decided to go to one. The restaurant I visited this time was Sukiya Hachioji Higashimachi Store. The interior was relatively empty, so I chose a table seat. I ordered a small bottle of beer (290 yen) to enjoy a drink since I don't have many opportunities for daytime drinking. After a tough day at work, having a drink during the day tastes much better than usual! The cold beer went down smoothly. For my meal, I chose the Gyudon with Grilled Beef Rib (regular size, 550 yen) without hesitation. The bowl arrived quickly, with grilled beef rib neatly arranged on top of the rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds. First, I tried the grilled beef, which had a nice texture and was easy to pick up. The seasoning was sweet and savory, but milder compared to the typical grilled beef set meals. It was great as a snack, and I enjoyed it with my beer. Then, I tried it with the rice, and it was delicious as expected. I topped it with the pickled ginger on the table and enjoyed it until the last bite. Simple things like this are what make life happy. It was an affordable meal, but I had a great time. I watched all the episodes of the "Mentai Piriri" TV series on Amazon Prime over the past few days before watching the movie. The movie, like the TV drama, was a heartwarming comedy with moments of laughter and tears. The husband and wife played by Hakata Hanamaru and Tomita Yasuko were a perfect duo, solving various incidents at "Fukunoya" in a brilliant way. This masterpiece taught me the importance of kindness, which is often forgotten in our daily lives. Once again, I realized how wonderful movies can be. Next time, I plan to watch "Mr. Glass".

On this day, I was doing day labor in Hachioji. I only had a warm soup for breakfast, so when I arrived at the station, I started to feel hungry. As I walked, I saw a sign for a place that seemed interesting. This time, I went to the 【Sukiya Hachioji Higashimachi Store】. Last time, I had the Caesar salad gyudon, but Sukiya offers a variety of menu items, which is always fun. This time, I sat at the counter and ordered the Spicy Bean Sprout Gyudon (regular size) for 500 yen. The challenge of the "spicy" in the name may not be for everyone, but I believe you have to try new things. When the bowl arrived, it had bean sprouts on top of the gyudon, along with shichimi togarashi (easy, right?). I first tried the bean sprouts, and they really made my tongue numb. Upon closer inspection, I realized that there was high-quality sansho pepper sprinkled on top. Sansho pepper can vary in intensity, but this one was really strong! I quickly tried to soothe my tongue with the gyudon, but even the beef was coated in spicy sauce, making this gyudon different from the usual. I hadn't even used the shichimi togarashi topping yet, so I cautiously mixed it in. However, maybe my tongue was already numb, as I didn't feel the spiciness as much. Eating too much spicy food can numb your taste buds. At this point, I started to crave pickled ginger. I usually only take a little, but this time I took more to refresh my palate. However, my lips still tingled from the spiciness. The sansho pepper must have been really strong. Looking at the menu again, I saw new items like the 4 Cheese Gyudon and Curry Tonjiru. Sukiya seems to have some unique gyudon options. I'll save those for next time. I look forward to what Sukiya has in store. Thank you for the meal.
