In Osaka, there is a well-known supermarket that offers both good and bad things. I tried some surprisingly normal deli dishes there. Located along a main road is Okunimachi Station, with a shrine nearby, and if you enter the side streets, it's quiet... but amidst the calmness, there was a brightly lit shop. This local supermarket, which also advertises in Dotonbori, is often talked about online. The only entrance is labeled as "exit only." Inside the store, the vegetables, fresh fish, meat, sweets, and bread sections are not much different from other supermarkets. The deli corner, which was my main purpose for visiting, had a uniform look with trays, but nothing particularly unique. Perhaps only the unique aspects are often highlighted, making it seem more unusual than it actually is. However, the prices are generally cheap. Everything I bought was under 500 yen. There are plenty of fried foods, as well as traditional Japanese dishes like simmered tofu. I picked two items this time. I devoured the garlic fried chicken, so I skipped the main dish and had the side dishes for dinner. While chatting on a long phone call with a former colleague, I tried the following two items: Garlic Fried Chicken (\118) - Deep-fried garlic with a strong bitterness and garlic flavor. Tonkatsu Set (\213) - A thin tonkatsu with a side of spaghetti, potato salad, and vegetables, all for a bargain price. The taste was as expected. The tonkatsu, slightly moistened in the breading, was enjoyed with the mayo from the packet. With a pack of rice, it made a satisfying meal. I came to this shop with some expectations, but found surprisingly normal deli dishes. Thank you for the meal.
