I was told about a delicious game meat restaurant, "Jibie Shimanochi Hyena Heights," located in Taisho, Osaka City. On a day when I finished work early, I decided to stop by on my way home. - About the Restaurant: Located about a 2-3 minute walk from Taisho Station, the restaurant is situated under the JR Loop Line viaduct. There are entrances to the restaurant from both sides of the viaduct, so you can enter from either road. The interior of the restaurant has a slightly dim lighting with counter seats facing the kitchen and table seats made from drum cans. Since I visited alone, I was seated at an available counter seat. - Food I Tried: I started with a cold beer, which was very refreshing after work. I quickly finished two glasses of beer and then had a White Horse highball. I asked the owner for recommended dishes and ordered accordingly. The dishes I tried that day were as follows: 1. Shimanochi Heights Potato Salad: A smooth-textured potato salad with crispy onion chips and deer meat inside, adding a rich flavor. 2. Specialty Ezo Deer Leg Roast: Rarely cooked Ezo deer leg roast with a tender and juicy texture, served with a slightly sweet wine sauce and a side of blueberry sauce. 3. Homemade Thick Deer Sausage: A recommended dish, the thick deer sausage was juicy and flavorful, complemented by a generous amount of herbs. 4. Negi Mori Drooling Boar: A dish with boar meat that had a chewy texture and plenty of fat, served with crunchy leeks and a spicy sauce with a hint of Sichuan pepper. All the meats had a wild and flavorful taste typical of game meat, but they were not too strong, making them easy to enjoy. The restaurant mainly serves deer and boar meat, but they also had bear meat available that day. I was interested in trying bear meat, but as I was dining alone, I had to pass on it. I look forward to trying other game meats at this restaurant in the future. Overall, I was very satisfied with the delicious meal.
