During a regular day, I had the No Wait Katsu Sandwich with vegetables (¥700) and an iced coffee (¥200). It had been a while since my last visit, but I have been here many times before. When I used to come to Senri Chuo during my student days, my options were always between having a Katsu Sandwich at New Austria, miso ramen and gyoza at Kitahaiya, or curry at Jumbo Curry. Even after decades, that choice remains the same, and since I had gone to Kitahaiya last time, I decided to come back for the Katsu Sandwich. There is also "Ichi" nearby, which has a similar taste, but I've only been there once because it allows smoking. It's a bit of an odd time in the morning, but it's still quite crowded. There were a few empty seats at the counter. I ordered the Katsu Sandwich, which is what almost everyone here orders. Although the other sandwiches like the Mixed Sandwich are also delicious, most people go for the Katsu Sandwich. If you order an iced coffee with your sandwich, it's ¥200 off, making it ¥200. However, I've hardly seen anyone just drinking coffee, so most people get the discount. Now, the Katsu Sandwich. It's cut into bite-sized pieces, so you can eat it in one bite. The taste hasn't changed at all since the old days. It's a familiar taste, but it's so delicious that you almost want to say "delicious" out loud. What's amazing is the perfect match between the vegetables and the cutlet. The onions are subtly seasoned and the fresh tomato and lettuce in between make it even better. Especially the onions seem to absorb all the excess fat from the cutlet, so the cutlet isn't greasy at all. Despite being a cutlet sandwich, it leaves a refreshing aftertaste and doesn't make you feel heavy. I asked the old man what was in these onions, but he wouldn't tell me. It's truly a one-of-a-kind Katsu Sandwich (excluding "Ichi"). In my personal national Katsu Sandwich ranking, it's definitely number one with a rating of 5.0. When you come to Senri Chuo, head straight to New Austria! Or rather, when you're traveling from Itami Airport to Umeda or Namba, skip the bus and take the monorail to Senri Chuo, then go to New Austria before hopping on the Midosuji Line!
