After visiting colleagues and clients at a company, I suddenly felt like eating knife-cut noodles and vaguely remembered a restaurant near Meijima that serves them. I searched on Google and found a place that serves knife-cut noodles in the Meijima area where I have been exploring for lunch recently. I discovered "Torisai Daireimen" tucked away near Meijima Athletic Park while driving towards Fukuoka City on the left side of Fukuoka Urban Expressway Kaizuka Line. Initially, I only saw a udon shop and parked my car in a nearby coin parking lot. After a thorough search, I found "Torisai Daireimen" a bit further back. I entered the restaurant and was greeted by a variety of Chinese-style side dishes in a refrigerated case on the left. The decorations and posters on the wall added to the authentic atmosphere. In the kitchen, there was a robot that looked a bit intimidating cutting noodles from a lump of kneaded wheat flour. I ordered the "Knife-cut Noodle Lunch" for 950 yen, despite being warned by a Chinese staff member that it was a bit spicy. The lunch set seemed to be limited to weekdays. The knife-cut noodle robot started working, and the "Knife-cut Noodle Lunch" arrived in about 10 minutes. It consisted of spicy knife-cut noodles, two Chinese side dishes, and rice. The side dishes included shredded potatoes salad, konjac with sesame oil, and stir-fried dried tofu and pig's ear. The meal was more filling than expected. I took a bite of the main dish, the knife-cut noodles, and indeed, they were spicy. However, it was not overwhelmingly spicy, and with caution, it was enjoyable without causing any problems. The noodles, made by the robot, had a chewy texture characteristic of knife-cut noodles. Eating the side dishes in between helped balance out the spiciness. The restaurant was almost full, with a high proportion of Chinese customers, likely regulars. The staff also spoke Chinese, giving the feeling of an authentic Chinese restaurant. Despite the novelty of the knife-cut noodle robot, the taste was authentic, and the side dishes were delicious, making it a surprising discovery. Thank you for the meal.
