On Sunday at 18:00, I went to "Yoshihei" in Nakazakicho. I wasn't really in the mood for "katsudon," but when I saw they had "minced pork cutlet bowl," I couldn't resist and ended up going in. So, I ordered the "minced pork cutlet bowl (regular size) (500 yen)." It arrived in 7 minutes. I took a bite. Delicious. The minced pork cutlet was crispy and juicy, freshly fried. There were two big pieces on top. The batter was thin and matched perfectly with the texture of the minced meat and onions. Eating it with shredded cabbage on top of rice is the best. If there's one thing to mention, the sauce is quite strong, making the overall dish a bit too salty. The sauce flavor is overpowering. If the sauce were a bit milder, this dish could become even more popular. But for the price of just one coin, it's definitely worth it. Thank you for the meal.

I missed lunchtime and ended up at Yoshibei, which offers continuous service. I chose a light mini pork cutlet set. The portion of cutlet and rice was small, but for a woman, it was satisfying enough for just 500 yen, which is a steal. I couldn't help but admire the guy who came in later and ordered the "tenko mori" set.

The rumored Manpuku set meal with katsudon, no zaru soba, and tonkatsu had quite a powerful impact. Ordering with less rice was the right choice. Considering the price, I can tell they put in a lot of effort. However, if they were going to be this bold with the set, I wish they had gone all out with options like zaru soba or katsu curry.

Addictively delicious! Whether it's summer or winter, I crave this dish regularly. The spicy miso and half-cooked egg combination is a must-try for everyone. The more you eat, the more you want, and the satisfaction after eating is top-notch! When you come here, the Korean Spicy Miso Katsu Don is the only choice!

My daughter, who is visiting home, said she was going to a friend's house to play. I had some errands to run in Umeda. I had my family, including my two grandchildren, drive me to the station. I got off at Umeda station alone and saw them off. After about two hours, my errands were done, and it was past 12 o'clock. I realized once again that my internal clock is quite accurate. My stomach was also growling. I remembered the restaurant I went to yesterday. It was a specialty store for katsudon. As a katsudon lover, I was immediately drawn to it. It happened to be Saturday, and I had errands in Umeda. So, of course, I had to go (*≧∀≦*) I purchased this at the ticket machine: - Sauce Set: 950 yen This was a katsudon with sauce and red miso soup set. It had been a while since I had sauce katsudon, and I was excited. I ordered a regular size, which looked small at first glance. However, it turned out to be quite satisfying. The small-looking pork cutlet was made with firm pork loin, and it was delicious. The sweet sauce matched perfectly, and it was just as good as a regular egg and pork cutlet bowl. Under the pork cutlet, there was shredded cabbage, and of course, rice was laid out underneath. The rice was also delicious. I asked the staff about the service when I ordered, which was related to installing the official app. I see! If you can use it on the same day, everyone would install it, right? So, I decided to add an extra egg❣️ In the latter half of the meal, I added a soft-boiled egg and enjoyed the rich katsudon again. I found some sansho pepper on the table, so I added a suitable amount to the red miso soup. It was still a great combination. They also provided large slices of pickled daikon, showing great service. It's clear from the staff's customer service that this is a very good restaurant. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

Suddenly, I felt like eating katsudon, so I casually stopped by this katsudon specialty shop, which has its main store in Sannomiya. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere with both counter seats and tables, and when I arrived around 1 pm, it was packed with customers. The staff were busy with customers coming in one after another, some for dining in, some for takeout, and some for Uber Eats orders. This time, I purchased the following items from the ticket machine:
- Katsudon (chicken cutlet) with extra egg x1: The "toripuru" (chicken cutlet) had an overwhelming volume and presence. I underestimated it and it seemed like it wouldn't end no matter how much I ate. The broth was gentle, the tonkatsu had a satisfying thickness, and adding an egg made it even better. I regret not adding two eggs to make it more creamy, but even with just one egg, it was delicious.
- Namasoumen katsudon (raw soumen noodles): I thought I might get tired of just eating katsudon, so I chose this option. It had a light and gentle broth, perfect for a break from the rich flavors of the katsudon.
I tried my best to eat everything, but ended up leaving a little rice behind. I learned that "double" size is just right for me, as I felt like my stomach was about to burst. The restaurant is open all day, making it easy to visit, so if I ever crave katsudon again, I plan to go back to "double" and order with two eggs. Thank you for the meal!

I felt like eating Katsudon, so I went to Yoshibei, which has two locations in Osaka. They have seasonal limited edition Katsudon, and this time I tried the "Spring Taru" which has delicious red ginger tartar sauce. It was my first visit in 8 years and I enjoyed it. The Katsudon with egg topping is also tasty, but the sweet and sour sauce Katsudon is really delicious. It's a Katsudon restaurant that makes you want to visit casually.

It's difficult to cook donburi dishes at home, so I went to Yoshiohei for a katsudon. They have counter seats, so it's fine for solo diners. Their katsudon features pork cutlet, beaten egg, and chopped green onions, without onions or trefoil. As you eat, the flavor can become a bit monotonous. Even the regular size is quite filling.

Today, I went to "Katsudon Kichihei Higashi Umeda" in Umeda to find a late-night snack! It was close to closing time, but I waited in line for a bit. I ordered the overflowing katsudon with red miso soup! I ordered the hire (fillet) cutlet, so it had less oil and tasted great, just the way I like it! Katsudon is really delicious when you have it once in a while!

In terms of December plans, the main event is gearing up for the year-end and New Year's holiday period (scheduled until January 9th). Starting from the 4th, a new series will begin featuring both 1,000 yen lunches and 500 yen lunches, with the latter starting early on the 20th. The "Katsudon Yoshibei Higashi Umeda Store" (Osaka, Higashi Umeda) is offering a special promotion for their 43rd anniversary, with their Tamago Katsudon normally priced at 750 yen now available for 500 yen.

On Thursday the 24th, I decided to walk home instead of taking the train and made a great discovery. It was the 43rd-anniversary celebration at a tonkatsu restaurant, and they were offering three kinds of tonkatsu bowls for only 500 yen each, instead of the usual 750 yen. I decided to go back next week on the 28th at 12:50 and saw that the tonkatsu bowls were indeed on sale. I chose the pork loin and egg bowl, which was delicious. I regretted not adding miso soup, but it was too much trouble to go back and add it. Overall, the tonkatsu was light and not too fatty, perfect for a healthy meal. I even received a coupon for a free tonkatsu bowl if I brought someone along next time.

Visit date and time: October 25, 2022, 14:05 at "Katsudon Yoshihei" in Higashi Umeda. The restaurant is located between Umeda and Nakazakicho, near the major intersection of Shinmidosuji. I have visited the main store in Kobe Sannomiya a while ago. I had the sauce katsudon back then, so this time I decided to try something different. I ordered the regular size "Tamago Toji Katsudon" with pork shoulder and 2 eggs. Unlike the main store where the pork was cut thinner, here it was more standard.
Food & Taste: 3.5
The "Tamago Toji Katsudon" is a very simple dish. This time, I added an extra egg and chose the higher quality meat option. The tonkatsu was about 2 cm thick with a good amount of meat. It was described as having a "meaty texture" on the menu, but it was surprisingly tender. There were parts with a lot of fat that required multiple chews to bite through. Personally, I prefer a softer texture over tough meat. The eggs were half cooked, providing a good balance of texture. The broth soaked into the rice just right, which was also good. The taste remained consistent, but I started to get a bit tired of it towards the end. However, the pickled radish helped refresh the palate.
Service: 3.2
The staff provided friendly and attentive service. There was complimentary pickled radish on each table. It's convenient that they offer continuous service due to being a small chain.
Atmosphere: 3.2
The interior had a wooden theme with spacious counter seats. Honestly, it was much cleaner than the main store in Kobe Sannomiya. The background music was Japanese songs from the Heisei era. There were 2 customers before me, and I couldn't see who came after me.
Cost Performance: 3.0
The regular size "Tamago Toji Katsudon" with 2 eggs costs 900 yen. There is complimentary pickled radish. Comparing the menu photos on Tabelog from April this year, there has been a 70 yen price increase. Adding some options at this price point for a rice bowl seems a bit high. However, since it's delicious, it's just within an acceptable range for me.

I tried the Tamago Katsu Don at Katsudon Yoshihei in Higashi Umeda. It costs 850 yen for a regular size. This dish has been popular since the restaurant first opened, and it still maintains its popularity. The Tamago Katsu Don is a simple dish made without onions, which is good because onions are expensive right now. The egg and pork cutlet are simmered in broth, and when it arrives at your table, steam rises and creates a white haze around it. It's not heavy, so it's enjoyable even on hot days. At first, it may not seem like much, but as the egg absorbs the broth, it transforms into a deliciously moist dish.

I visited for lunch on a regular day. It was my first time here. The restaurant was almost full with only one seat available. The customers were all men. I ordered the pork loin cutlet bowl with a regular size and added an egg for 830 yen. It was recommended on the ticket machine, so I chose that option. I received my food about 5 minutes after ordering. The pork cutlet was covered in a soft egg. The cutlet was thick and large, with just the right amount of fat. The amount of rice was perfect for me. It was delicious at first, but I started to get tired of the taste after eating about half of it. I wanted to try it with sauce and mustard, but I couldn't find any on the table. Since the taste was a bit monotonous, I wanted to change it up. I was full by the end of the meal. Thank you for the meal.

I chose the Spicy Miso Mayo Katsu Don from the menu of various katsu don options, such as Tamago Katsu Don and Curry Katsu Don, because it looked delicious in the photo. I opted for a small size and added potato salad. I felt a bit rushed when ordering at the ticket machine, so I accidentally chose potato salad, but later realized that there was a regular salad option available. The dish arrived in 5 minutes. The spicy gochujang and mayonnaise combination was addictive. The katsu was crispy and hot, and mixing it with cabbage and onsen egg made it even more delicious! The potato salad was average. I would like to try the regular katsu don next time. Thank you for the meal! ★

Today, I have graduated from the Kita-Shinchi area and will be reviewing in the new Nishinakazaki area for about two months. This time, I visited a place that I had been to several times in the Kobe area! I was surprised to see that they also have a branch in Namba, Osaka (laughs). It had been a long time since I last visited, so I decided to go for it! I was surprised when I looked at the menu - they offer two types of pork cutlets for the classic Tamago Toji Katsudon! You can choose between the meaty pork shoulder or the light pork loin. I chose the pork shoulder for that traditional taste, and since I wanted to try the fresh somen that I have had many times in Shodoshima, I ordered the "recommended set (pork shoulder Tamago Toji Katsudon + mini warm fresh somen)." The katsudon, cooked in a secret dashi without using onions, had a soft coating but a great harmony with the cutlet! The pork shoulder was thick, juicy, and delicious with a classic taste. The dashi was just right. Unfortunately, the fresh somen seemed to have been boiled a little too long, so it was hard to tell the difference from dried noodles. However, the dashi made with flying fish was delicious! The mini portion was too small and I finished it in about 15 seconds (laughs). Definitely, fresh somen should be eaten cold. They have a wide variety of katsudon options, so if I have the chance, I would like to try others too.

From Umeda East to Higashi Toriimae Shotengai, there is a small restaurant called "Kichibee" at Esuta Umeda. The restaurant has 7 counter seats and 2 tables. You pay in advance at the ticket machine. I ordered the "Tamago Toji Katsu Don" (regular size) for 780 yen and a "Akadashi" soup for 70 yen. It was almost full as it was just before noon. I received my meal in about 5 minutes. I wish I had ordered the double egg! Many places use two cutlets for a katsu don, so having just one made it look a bit lonely. I had eaten egg over rice in the morning, so I didn't get the double this time. The tonkatsu had different sizes of cuts, but it was freshly fried and delicious. There was some fat on the left side. It had a good texture overall and was tender, with a nice flavor from the broth. It was on the lighter side, I think. The rice was cooked well too. Instead of miso soup, they serve a rich red soup, which was a bit strong in flavor so I didn't really need it. Maybe a mini somen would have been better. I was the only woman there, everyone else was men, and almost all of them ordered the double egg. I recommend the double for those who aren't concerned about cholesterol!

The restaurant is located in Umeda. It's about a 5-minute walk from Hankyu Umeda Station. I visited around 12:30 on a weekday. There were mostly men inside, but the place was clean so I didn't mind. They have acrylic partitions for COVID-19 precautions. I bought a meal ticket at the ticket machine right after entering. They have a wide variety of menu items, and you can choose from different sizes for the rice bowls! It's nice that you can order a smaller portion. I ordered the Egg and Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl in small size for ¥730, and also got a mini somen for an additional ¥200. Somen is a rare side dish option, maybe only available during this season? Usually at rice bowl restaurants, you get miso soup or udon as a side. My order was ready in about 5 minutes. The cutlet bowl had just enough seasoning, not too strong. It was closed with only the egg on top. It had less sweetness compared to a regular pork cutlet bowl maybe because it didn't have onions. The pork was thick and satisfying! The somen was a nice change, with firm and chewy noodles in a light broth. I also received a coupon for ¥100 off my next visit when I ordered. Thank you for the meal!

I recently visited the expanding Katsudon Yoshibei restaurant in Higashi Umeda. I used to go to the shop in Sannomiya Center Plaza basement quite often before. The menu used to only have options like Tamago Toji Katsudon and Sauce Katsudon, but now they have a variety of Katsudon variations that I'm not familiar with. They cut the freshly fried pork cutlet into bite-sized pieces, simmer it in donburi sauce, pour beaten egg over it, and sprinkle chopped green onions on top. It's a very simple katsudon that doesn't use onions. They use quite small eggs, so I think you need two eggs. It comes with red miso soup for 900 yen. The bowl is shallow like the main store, and the table has the same silver ginkgo cut pickles. The taste is almost the same. The pork cutlet also tasted freshly fried and hot, so I assume the ingredients, preparation, and donburi sauce are probably the same as the main store. The only difference I noticed was the cheerful words of the staff. At the main store, they always say "Thank you as always! Thank you every time!" as if they were regular customers, but at the various branches, it's not quite the same. I feel like that also contributes to the deliciousness.

I visited in the early afternoon on a day off. It seems like a chain restaurant, and it was my first time here. They seem to be promoting somen noodles, so I ordered a katsudon set. The impression I got from both dishes was quite bland. It's okay for a casual meal, but I wish they had something more unique. Thank you for the meal.
